Meh.
I went here this past weekend and was more or less unimpressed. That said, it's not bad food by any means. I ordered up the fish n chips, which the waitress told me they were known for. The fish was delightfully crispy, but slightly overcooked. The fries that came with the dish were plentiful, but small strips of shoestring style. I don't get the point of those thin shreds because you barely get any potato.
Our waitress was very friendly and the whole staff seemed very good at their job.
I've nothing terrible to say of the place, but I've nothing wonderful either. The prices were pretty reasonable. 10 dollars for the fish n chips seems a bit low in comparison to other locations in Leavenworth for the same dish.
We have been to several places in Leavenworth and this was by far the worst. E waited at the door with no acknowledgment from the staff. When we we're finally seen, the waitress took us to a table and plopped menus down and didn't say anything else to us. We were going to give it a try still but after we saw the microwave in plain view and being used for everything we decided to leave...best decision ever. After reading other yelp reviews, glad we didn't stick around and waste the money. Went to a far superior restaurant in town. Â King Ludwigs.
Review Source:The inside is really near looking. I like the feel of the decor. Our waitress was a doll. Perfect service, drinks were filled and food came quick and there were 8 of us. The reason I give it 4 stars is that I feel like its a little pricey. It's almost $10 for a BLT and potato salad. The food alone is not worth the money. But combined with the great atmosphere and awesome service, it was worth it for the experience. Good place to go for a family.
Review Source:I went here for breakfast during a weekend in Leavenworth, and it's pretty much exactly what you'd expect. Â It was diner food: big portions, affordable prices, and pretty tasty. Â It's the perfect place to go when you're craving bacon, eggs and hashbrowns after a night at Oktoberfest! Â The decor is pretty dated, but I really wouldn't expect anything fancy with this place. Â It's totally casual, and the perfect classic breakfast spot.
Review Source:Small town, rustic, and woodsy. That's how I would describe Kristall's to a friend. The food is what you'd expect to find at a traditional small town American cafe. It's nothing special, but due to Oktoberfest, they added some specials that reached out to our party. I had the breakfast burrito. It was good.
Our server was nice. She went around, talking to all of the locals while we were enjoying our food. The place is conveniently located, a great place to stop if driving through or on your way in or out of town.
I had a really good French Dip here. The kid enjoyed the deep fried pickle spears, and though enjoyable I've had better at People's Pub. Ian's Monte Cristo was heavenly and there wasn't a speck of it left on his place. The kid also enjoyed a ginormous BLT with sweet potato fries. It was a good way to head into the mountains for a camping weekend.
Review Source:The service was very good. In fact, our server was super friendly and on the spot with drink refills and whatnot. But the food... not so much.
The meatloaf was way too salty, the beef in the kids burgers looked and tasted terrible, and my fried chicken was still so frozen that there was ice inside the middle of the breast. And the chicken was obviously not fresh since the meat was white all the way through, so it must've been at least partially pre-cooked.
When I told the waitress about the icy chicken, she seemed genuinely concerned and took it back to the kitchen. When it came back, it was the same piece of chicken that I ripped open, only fried more. Now, I had take a few bites before I hit the icy part, and it horrified me thinking about how many other half-chewed pieces of chicken were re-fried before I got mine. Needless to say, I didn't finish the meal.
We're definitely NOT going to be going back to Kristall's the next time we're in Leavenworth.
Everything and everywhere was packed packed packed last weekend and honestly, I kinda didn't care where we ate, as long as we ate something. Â Sadly, when we came, it was busy! Â We were one of the patrons part of the Leavenworth Drive and there were a couple big groups and 1 waitress! Â We ended up seating ourselves and waited patiently. Â Our waitress was really nice and sweet considering how stressed out she looked! Â
I had their eggs benedict which turned out okay. Â Not the best, but it filled me up and I was content with my order. Â My poor husband on the other hand, received an open face turkey sandwich with some kind of gravy on it and it looked pretty gross and it tastes like something you either get at a hospital OR old people homes. Â This isn't what he ordered either! Â But, our waitress was kind enough to put in his original order of the meatloaf sandwich which again, looked disgusting when it arrived. Â Basically, my husband drove 3+ hours to eat really really bad and BLAND food! Â
I understand it was busy and complete hectic, but at least we got semi-decent service. Â Sadly their food is low quality with an overpriced tag.
Honestly, biggest waste of money I spent in Leavenworth.... heres why
- Terrible service
-over priced
-longest wait ever (oh.. there were 3 waitresses on duty and only one other family... are you kidding me?)
- our water and coffee were never refilled even though we finished both long before our food ever arrived
-the food.... the food... the food.... GROSSS!!
This place is a joke. They're lucky so many hung over people need to eat breakfast
We really got tired of the "German" food and the outrages prices in town. Kristall's was a refreshing break. We even had Christmas dinner there which was excellent. The owner and staff were very friendly unlike most of the restaurants in town. We were in Leavenworth for three days over Christmas and had one dinner and breakfast on two mornings. Good customer service and quality food made us return. It seems the restaurants in town do not care about repeat business. They should read Yelp!
The Tumwater is a good restaurant but stay away from The Alley Cafe and King Ludwigs they are both overpriced. On Christmas during the day we called and left messages three different times for reservations at The Alley Cafe. Never getting a return  call we went to the restaurant personally and the person (lady) that greeted us seemed very put out that we were there. We made reservations for 3:30 but after our personal experience with the staff and reading Yelp we canceled and went to Kristall's
Our experience in short-
-Near the door
-extremely flat soad
-stares from employees and customers
-rude employees
-food that made us both sick
-overpriced
-smaller portions then everyone else
-took fourty minutes for food
It seemed like we were being treated differently either because weren't local, which is crazy because that town relies on tourist to keep going. Or because we are in out twenties and everyone else was at least 40. Everyone but us got the best service and got really good looking and smelling food but us. Do not go here!!! You will regret it! All the other food places are yummy except for this one!!!
Stopped here for the first time after a hike to Colchuck Lake, Ordered a New York steak MR. Â It was cooked perfect, service was great, decently priced to boot.
For the people surprised at the negative reviews about this place, look at where the person who put up each negative review is from, Seattle, I would expect nothing less then some snot nosed, upper class, punk from that side of the state to post reviews like that, sense they are probably used to 5 Star restaurants, and not our "Slop".
We frequently eat at Kristalls when we are in Leavenworth. Considering the expense of the other places it is a great place to eat with your family. Â Our favorites are the deep fried dill pickles, the deep fried prawns, the meatloaf, and the Cobb salad. Â This summer the menu was changes slightly and we had the Blackened mango salmon, and the Carne asada and enjoyed that as well.
Review Source:Remarkably average. Food wasn't very good. I am a fan of diners in general, and this place has the correct ambiance but the food just isn't very good; definitely is not worth the price ($30 spent on breakfast for two, the dinner for $60 that night at Visconti's was at least a hundred times better in terms of overall value).
We won't be back, unless everywhere else is closed and we forgot to pack snacks in the car.
After a few too many glasses of wine the night before (see my next review) I was in the mood for some Eggs Benedict and a hot cup of coffee.
Kristall's delivered both with ease and flare...well maybe not so much flare, but you get my point.
We were greeted with a smile, seated right away. Our food did not take too long and my Benedict was exactly what I was craving. Perfectly poached runny eggs, soft English muffin, salty and slightly smoky bacon, topped with a generous pour of buttery (oh so artery clogging) Hollandaise sauce! YUMM!!! Add a side of hash browns and some fresh coffee, and we have a happy customer!
I will be back :-)
I wanted to give this place a good review because I've always been a fan of greasy spoons and this came recommended by a local. Â But it was gross. Â The sausage tasted really good when I was hungry but I'm pretty sure that's because it was all fat and no meat. Â The pancakes had a very spongy strange texture that I had to tear with my knife because it couldn't cut through it very well. Â The biscuits and gravy didn't taste good and my eggs were so over-cooked they were brown, rubbery, hard and tasteless. Â The coffee was watery and weak. Â
The service was good. Â And they had 3 different syrups to choose from which my partner thought was awesome. Â I thought they were bland and would have preferred one delicious syrup as opposed to three sweet flavorless ones.
Judging by the Yelp reviews, someone should open up a good breakfast place in Leavenworth a la Coastal Kitchen or The Dish; it's desperately needed for those of us who have become accustomed to really yummy, quality breakfasts.
You've had a long night at Ducks and Drakes, you head over to the Post Office for shots, then end up crawling out of Katz and pass out in a ditch. You are in a bad way...You need some serious help, but where do you turn?!?
Here's what you do-
Pull yourself together, put on your shoe, forget the sock. Steal the nearest bike and begin making your way toward the main road you stumbled in on. Don't make eye contact with the tourists.
Find Kristall's restaurant. At this point in time it is probably about 12 noon, and the lounge just opened at 11am. Go in the back and find the huge comfy seating rounder as you enter on the left. Now ask the waitress for a deliciously spicy bloody mary and tell her to turn down the soccer game. your head is pounding.
When she comes back, ask her for the CFS (local talk for country fried steak) You will love it and the little gut bomb will put some pep back in your step. Now, pull out your smart phone, and read my review on Munchen Haus, then read my review on Ducks and Drakes. This should guide you on how to rinse and repeat your previous night.
Good luck.
Obviously Kristall's management has paid attention to the previous reviews because service was great during each of our 3 visits while we were in Leavenworth on vacation. Â We had breakfast there once, which was really good. Â The only problem that morning was the server would yell across the restaurant when new people were waiting for a table: "How are you? Â Table for two?" Â It got really tiresome hearing her yell, instead of her acknowledging them across the room with a smile and a wave, before walking up to them and speaking to them quietly. Â Thankfully, she wasn't there on our other 2 visits which were in the afternoons, or this review might not be a 4-star (in fact, she's the reason it's not a 5-star). Â Our food was great every visit -- sundaes and coconut cream pie were THE BEST!! Â Friday night special included All You Can Eat fish and chips for $7.25, and they were packed!! Â Oh, and before I forget... hallelujah, the restrooms were spotless! Â When you're in Leavenworth, definitely go to Kristall's!
Review Source:We had 2 very bad food experiences in Leavenworth (Andrea Keller's and the Soup Cellar), so the following day we pulled over at this random restaurant that looked like locals frequented - Kristall's.
The staff was very friendly, place was very clean and the they had VERY reasonable prices and large portions. It's comfort food, typical diner fashion, but was delicious.
If you are looking for a BLT, clubhouse, burger-type food, check this place out.
I'm surprised about all the reviews! Service was friendly, prompt, excellent.
And the breakfast food was the best we've had the whole trip! Maybe the other places were sub-par, but I was pleasantly surprised since from the outside, it doesn't look like much.
I had the biscuits and gravy with bacon and eggs while the fiance had the eggs benedict. I'm not sure how his was, but I really enjoyed mine! The gravy was really peppery, but I like it that way. And the bacon was by far the best bacon I've ever had. Can't explain it. But right texture and just cooked the right amount.
It was about $27 for two of us plus 3 juices. Pretty standard for around here. But I really enjoyed it and would come back again!
Terrible. To begin, service here was lacking. We had 3 different people who would attempt to wait on us, but even that didn't resolve the fact that we had to wait for eternity to come and go before our order was taken or our drinks refilled. I Â would have looked past all this, but, alas, the service was not the only thing wrong. My steak medallions, mashed potatoes, and vegetables were cold! Completely cold, as if my plate had been sitting out for a long time. By the time our server came back to check on us, my family had finished their meals. There was no way I was going to wait for them to warm my food. At least they deducted the 15.99 for it off our final bill. We will NEVER go again. It's a shame this was our first restaurant experience in Leavenworth. It is worth noting that they were not busy at all while we were there.
Review Source:What do you do when the sign says, "Wait to be seated," but you have been waiting for almost 10 minutes while servers pass by without recognizing you are "waiting to be seated?" Â You seat yourself. Â
What do you do when you as for water three times, but you never receive water? Â Ask a fourth time.
What do you do when you see your food ready to be served for 5 minutes but your server is not paying attention? Â You ask for your food .
I have been to Leavenworth at least a dozen times, but I had never had the opportunity to eat at Kristall's. Â Although the food was average- I had the steak and eggs for $11.99- the service was just bad enough that I would not return. Â There are just too many great places/experiences in Leavenworth to come back to Kristall's.
