We always have a beer at the La Conner Pub & Eatery whenever we are in town.  It's got a great small-town-local-semi-dive-but-nice-for-families vibe, which is tricky to pull off!

The long bar up front features just-bordering-on-tacky nautical decorations (models of tall ships with sails snipped out of Milwaukee Light cans, statuettes of fishermen, etc.) and brass plaques at each stool honor past owners and old soaks.  A couple of serviceable pool tables do a fairly brisk business.

There's a table smack dab in the middle of the front window - nice for watching Boomer and Greatest Generation tourists strolling along the main drag in their puffy white sneakers and pastel baseball caps - or you can opt for seating in the middle of the room - or even dine by a rear window with a lovely view of the canal out back.

We've recently taken to having the fish and chips and the clam strips.  The fish and chips are actually quite good - made to order from fresh cod, so they come out hot and crisp and yummy.  (I know how they're made because if you sit in front at the bar you can see everything being prepared, just like in an upscale "open kitchen" joint.)  The fries, while they are coated with that weird spice deep fry mixture, are hot and fairly plentiful.

The wait staff manages to be a trace 1980s bridge and tunnel tacky without going over the top, and they are always nice and friendly in that beach-side-tourist-town way that I associate with summers in the fading resorts of the east coast where I grew up. They know you're not coming back, so they crack the same jokes with everyone, but it's cheerful and efficient, if not particularly classy or personal, customer service.

Frankly, I really like this place. It doesn't hurt that the prices are refreshingly affordable in a town that can be a tad pricey.

Fish and chips isn't really bad.   You definitely can taste the ale/beer in the batter.  You just need to let the oiliness drip away a little.  Service was adequate.

Horrible fish and chips.  We have come here for 25 years on our way up or back to the San Juan's this is the first time we have had bad fish.  It was soggy and couldn't be eaten.  They Apologized  and that was it.  We went down the street to the la Connor brewing company and had a fabulous pizza -  gargonzola chicken - it was Wonderful.  No more la Connor pub for us or our boating friends.  Don't waste your money.

We had a burger and fries before we set out for the bars. The burger was one of the best I've ever had. But the fries were incredibly awesome. They are battered before they are fried. To top it off, there is a nice view of the water as you sit and dine. The wait staff is helpful and friendly too.

We dine at La Conner Pub whenever we take a trip up north. Love their Fish n Chips - four pieces of cod with fries and the pan fried breaded oysters. The sandwiches and burgers are also good especially the Reuben, French Dip and Dagwood (comes with choice of fries, soup or salad). Service is always good and servers are eager to chat with you about their laid back town. It's a bit dark inside so nothing beats their outdoor seating. Watching the boats go by on a sunny day while enjoying lunch is reason enough to keep coming back!

Two sisters have taken over the ownership & management and have made this one of the best places in town for lunch or dinner.  Clam chowder, fish & chips, oysters are not only scrumptious, but reasonably priced, as well.  Great hamburgers, too.  When the weather is nice, we like to eat on the deck and watch the boats go by!

I adore this pub!  The fish-n-chips are delicious (huge portions) and they have the best french fries anywhere.  The service is laid back and friendly, you can play darts or pool, and the little deck outside on a sunny day is sublime.  Getting to La Conner from Seattle feels like a  treck, but once you've arrive in this wonderful little sleepy town arrive hungry  and be sure and stop at the Pub!

I don't mind holes in the wall kind of places and this one kind of fit that description except that it was pretty spacious.  The long bar and stools looked like it had had some use and abuse.  Frankly, the whole restaurant had that tired and dreary kind of vibe.

It was off season, so there was no problem getting a river front table for lunch.  The advertised specialty here (like so many other places in the area) was fish n chips.  I had already sampled enough so I was ready to move on to some land animals.

When I saw the patty melt on the menu, I just couldn't turn it down.  My companions decided to go with the ubiquitous specialty.  Service was fine, a bit aloof, but we were chatting away so just the basics were desired from our server anyway.

The food came out in those plastic baskets lined with wax paper or parchment, I really don't know which.  At first glance, my melt looked pretty darn good.  Of course one look at my fries and I was totally bummed - coated, seasoned, and who knows what else.  What's wrong with just a plain potato?

As my table buddies dug into their fin friends, I started prepping my melt.  My biggest disappointment was the bread to patty ratio.  Heavy on the former, light on the latter.  Not good.  At least there were tons of carmelized onions.  Overall, it ended up being ok, but the meat was quite dry.  I picked off the excess bread and some of the onions so my basket ended up looking like a disaster.  As much as I hate the kind of spuds they served, they were piping hot and crispy, which warranted at least a bite or two.

The fish-n-chip review was a mixed bag.  The tempura like coating soon turned heavy and unappealing after the fish cooled a bit.  The dish definitely needed some help.  Not sure when or if I will ever return to La Conner, but this place will not be on my list of places to visit.

Excellent Fish & Chips! Horrible service! We go here when we are not in a hurry. As long as you are in the mood to relax and enjoy sitting outside I would not go. Although today a young long haired brunette waited on us and she was the best we've had so far. Food is great!

Horrible service. Went to enjoy a basic lunch while driving through. We were not greated upon entering. A few minutes after arriving we were seated and given menus. Thirty minutes went by and nobody had come to take our order. We tried to make eye contact with one of the two waitresses that wandered by, with no luck. We finally walked out.

My favorite off-season La Conner restaurant! The fish and chips, oysters, burgers, and patty melts are outstanding. Their fish and shellfish is fresh caught, and their beef is locally sourced Black Angus.

The farther you get from that core list of pub food, the more iffy it gets. But let's face it, if you want a fancy meal, the tavern is not the place to go! This is where you go to get the best burger in La Conner, end of story.

The key to enjoying a meal here is to avoid tourist season and busy times. If the restaurant is full, forget it! Servers are easily overwhelmed, and the busier it is, the more likely your meal will end up wrong, late, or sub-standard.

The best place to eat during the winter, or summer afternoons between the lunch and dinner rush. Not so great on a busy summer evening, though.

I have eaten here a few times, and I doubt I will ever go back.

The burgers are decent, the fish and chips are decent...

The service is some of the WORST I HAVE EVER HAD, consistently..the first time  and the second time I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it doesnt matter if its busy or slow you WILL wait FAR too long! The food comes out INSANELY show once the server finally gets around to you.

I don't think my food has ever arrived in anything under an hour.

Last time I was there I ordered their Dagwood sandwich, the menu talks it up as VERY big and just as tasty.....OMG what a pathetic excuse for a meal....it was a few bits of nothing on a SAD SAD roll that had been microwaved to get it hot.

Overall opinion, avoid AT ALL COST, if you do not you will regret it!

Stumbled on this place walking around looking for eats. Decided to eat here because we could sit on the edge of the water outside and enjoy the view.

Solid food, good menu. Certainly happy with the food. We saw someone at another table send a shrimp salad back because they didn't order it (OK) and we both were thinking, "hey, you can give that salad here."

We both have it on our mind to go back some day and order that shrimp salad.

Dinged a star because the service was a bit slow and our server about a pleasant as a state trooper having a bad day.

Its a Pub.. the chairs on the desk are plastic...so what should we expect?
    I really nice meal.

Deep fried seafood may not be seen as gourmet, but this was as well prepared seafood like that as I have had.  Clams were giant and tender.. Scallops melted like butter in my mouth.. really well done.

(We had seafood in SC at a famous place that was terrible) Not here..

They are right on the water so we could watch the Crabbers come in and our waitress was wonderful.. very friendly and open.. helping make it a very nice and romantic evening for not much $$

Terrible, Terrible,Terrible,Terrible,Terrible!  You would think that a small town pub would be very happy and appreciative of being busy.  This place had the worst service EVER!  If you visit the beautiful town of LaConner do not, I repeat DO NOT visit this place.  The servers were extremely short and bitched about being too busy.  It was sunny but a little chilly outside and we were sat in the shade outside.  When a table in the sun opened we moved to it, let me also say that there were 4 tables open around us, the waitress came over and told us that we could not sit there because it would mess up the servers.  The table was one away from where we were and our server was serving that table before the people left.  I'm writing this as I'm waiting for my food because it has already been 45 minutes of waiting!
The drinks were watered down and terrible,  if your gonna have shitty service at least get your patrons a little buzz so they forget about the wait and rude inpatient service.  If you can't at least act like you enjoy people then Get the he'll out of the service industry!
Now about the food my girlfriend ordered a hamburger that might as well have been made of sand it was so dry. I will say that my Ruben was not terrible but nothing to rave about.  Our friends ordered fish and chips, not bad and a shrimp louis that was not very good.  After the first hour and a half they could have served me up a nice steak from the met and I would have still never visited this restaurant again.  There are many other nice restaurants in la Conner that would love to have your business and have great food, unfortunately I went against yelp and settled for the first thing I saw.

Worst service ever. So disappointed. Went this past Saturday after Tulip Festival, and we waited and waited for service. We watched couples get up and leave. Our food was just average at best. The waitresses were in sour moods, they constantly complained about all the people, all the work they had to do. Disgusting! Do your job!

Don't go there!!!! Go somewhere else, where they want your money and treat you accordingly.

Some of the best Clam Chowder around. Excellent fish n' chips as well. Avoid anything that comes with Chili, it's canned Nalley chili. The service isn't the best, but the Clam Chowder is totally worth stopping by.

I have been here many times over the years. So fun!  The best time of year is to go in the summer and sit on the deck enojoy the sun, beer and watch the boats.  The food is pretty good too.  LaConner itself has lots of fun shops to look around in and the main street is fun to walk up/down.  This is a perfect spot to stop and have a beer!

I have been here several times over the years, and have always enjoyed it.  But this past weekend it was awesome!!  They have stepped it up a notch, so much so that I am really looking forward to going back.  We spent the weekend at the Marina, and went up to town for dinner on Friday night.  I had the Prawns and Chips, 6 HUGE Prawns, some of the best fries ever, great Tartar Sauce for $8.95.  My husband had the Fish and Chips...4 Large pieces of fish..so big he couldn't finish them.  The dinner and the service were awesome..though the drinks were a little weak.  We decided to back on Sunday..I had the same Prawns and Chips, and they were as good as the first nigh..so no fluke there.  My husband wanted steak, so he had the Top Sirloin, with a Baker and Salad.  Oh and I had a couple of Oyster Shooters.  Everything was YUMMY..Steak a little over medium, but tasty.  Can hardly wait to go back!!!

We've been to the La Conner Pub before. I'm always of the mind, "I'll try anything twice, once may have been a fluke".

It was not a fluke. Basically the same thing as the two prior visits. We sat on the patio for 10 minutes and nobody came over to greet us. Apparently the servers don't have set sections, they just alternate picking up tables as they come in, resulting in service chaos.

It was getting cold, so we moved inside and were greeted immediately by a different server. Drinks arrived quickly, as did our "garlic bread" starter, that was nothing more than a quartered hoagie roll with a bit of garlic butter on it and tossed in the broiler for a couple of minutes.

There was a man and his young daughter seated before us. No drinks or anything in front of them, just some crayons and coloring paper for the daughter. A server yelled across the restaurant, "I'll be there when I can!"  They left 15 minutes later after not getting service. As they walked out, they passed by the server, who was sitting near the video golf game, eating.

A few minutes later, a group of 12 came in and couldn't be accomodated at one table due to "fire department regulations" and the servers wouldn't pull tables together so the party could all sit together. The party got a bit upset about it, and instead of trying to accomodate them, the server that was taking care of them (and also taking care of us) left their first tray of drinks on the table behind us and walked away saying, "I'm not going to serve them, their party is too large and I'm not getting in the middle of this mess".

The party of 12 got up and left. Not only did the restaurant lose revenue from the FOURTEEN PEOPLE THAT WALKED OUT, they lost revenue on drinks poured and not served.

I ordered a chili burger and my wife ordered a regular burger. I asked how the chili was, and the server replied, "It's REALLY good!" Well, I know the difference between mediocre canned chili and *good* chili. This must have been a generic canned chili such as you'd get at the grocery store *cough*Nallys*cough*.

Mediocre burgers, mediocre fries, and a FIVE DOLLAR shot of Wild Turkey left us with a bad experience. Even having Miller High Life on tap couldn't save them. Similar experiences with food and drink the last two times, as well. We won't be back.

Service was good, the food, not so much... what we had were marginal bar food.  I suppose it's appropriate for the establishment.  Prices were reasonable, though.

What? I'm the first to write a review for the La Conner Pub?
This place seems like it has been here a while- I'm surprised to be the first to welcome it to the world of Yelp!

La Conner is one of our favorite little day-trip destinations, so we try to make it up a couple times a year to relax and take in this quaint little town.

Although many of it's eateries and bars have left a lot to be desired, La Conner Pub is another gem we've ran across in our visits.

This place has cozy, little small town pub written all over it. It's laid back, frill-less, and warm and it seems like you have quite a few locals hangin' out (always a good sign.)

The menu is American pub grub, pretty basic but not boring, and prices are VERY reasonable. This is one place that isnt set to gouge the tourists like so many other I won't mention here.

We tried the appetizer special- a GIANT plate of deep-fried goodness with some crazy delicious jack cheese sticks and a plethora of other goodies that went great with our ales. The soup was hot and delicious and our sandwiches were perfect.

I actually ended the meal with a small side salad and I remember being so surprised how fresh and crisp the veggies were for a pub salad. It just was pleasantly surprising to have food served at good temperatures, good prices and with a decent level of care at a small-town pub.

    Atmosphere- CHECK
    Food and Drink- CHECK
And the icing on the cake was the service.
AWESOME, friendly server named Jennifer just went out of her way to be nice and accommodating  the moment we walked in and was extremely efficient and speedy with her service. Man, I CANNOT tell you how rare that is in these kind of establishments.

La Conner Pub brings the best out in small town beer pub expectations- decent grub at affordable prices, plenty of good Northwest brews and friendly locals on both sides of the bar rail.

(visited on weekday, off-peak hours and not during high tourist season)
