Mexican food does not include cheese whiz.. I feel sorry for anyone that goes here thinking that this is good mexican food. This is complete garbage. If this is the only mexican food you had, well then I guess you'd think its good, but damn. Taco Bell is more authentic. Â Good thing this business is in Michigan because if it were out here in California, they would be eaten alive.
Review Source:The food is delicous - especially the chips, flautas, and tacos. The salsa could use some work, but you can't have everything. Â
I am not sure what is going on with the negative reviews on the food. Comments about the staff being unfriendly are completely valid. We end up here a couple times a year as we travel through town for the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival. Â Recently we stopped in (off season) and got the same cool, unsmiling service that we receive in August. The wait staff seriously does need to get friendlier - or at least fake it.
One star off for the surly service, but the food is solidly good.
ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. BEWARE.
My boyfriend had chewed GUM stuck to the bottom of his plate, which he didn't notice until after the meal was over.
Walls have food splattered on them, nobody cleans the dining room. Window sills have old food and crumbs all over them.
Extremely slow service. Saw server stick her hand almost into the pitcher used for serving drinks.
Food doesn't taste authentic. I ordered the taco salad and it was just meat, cheese and some lettuce and tomato. Paid extra for sour cream. Not a true taco salad and lacked flavor.
There are a lot of vegetable growing and processing businesses in the area. Â They generate seasonal work that attract a lot of migrant workers. Â You would think a town with a significant would pressure a place to put out decent mexican food...not La Fiesta.
Located in downtown Hart, this restaurant has a very inviting exterior. Â The interior, however, has all the charm of a dirty fast food restaurant. Â Bare table tops, charmless front counter area, and no hot sauce on the tables. Â Waitresses here look like they suppliement their incomes by working the pole. Â Surly expressions and "whaddya want?" greet you as you get ready to order. Â Menu has a variety of basic mexican dishes, combinations and sides. Â Chips and salsa are not complimentary at this establishment so you'll have to order them ala cart.
I ordered a chicken enchilada plate and my buddy ordered nachos (he's so unadventurous). Â We also ordered chips and salsa. Â Chips and salsa came first, chips were OK but the salsa was a watery puree, probably made in a blender. Â Not very hot either. Â I was warned that the stuff was really hot...shit, baby food. Â Nachos were pretty standard, made with cheese whiz and some chicken in it, you can find this kind of stuff in any convenience store. Â My chicken enchilada was awful, the chicken tasted gamey and the sauce was almost flavorless. Â Beans and rice didn't do much to help.
Yelp reviewers say that there are other decent joints in Hart so try them first. Â This joint is a Taco Bell that serves alcohol.
My husband and I love to eat from local restaurants when on vacation. I normally will check the reviews on Yelp or other sites but apparently Hart MI has a big dead zone. The food was not bad. I enjoyed the chips and my fajita taco and my family enjoyed the quesadilla and enchilada. However the service was horrible. Our waitress was rude to all of us. When we asked a question about our bill she became very defensive and rude then was talking about our family at the table behind us, which we called her out on. Â When the cashier rang up our bill she was talking to her friend and never asked how our meal was. I had to interrupt her to complain about our server. I did not enjoy the salsa, tastes like ketchup and you have to pay $4 for a small basket of chips and salsa. Will never return to La Fiesta , definitely no party there!
Review Source:should have listened to fellow yelpers and not give this place a try. I was craving for mexican food and this place was the closest around. Ordered the wet burrito. It was more like burrito soup soaking in tomato-y sauce. Lack of flavors. The chicken was overly salty. The portion was big, but not good enough to even finish 1/4 of it. Gross. Will not return. Save your money and go down to GR or Muskegon area for Mexican
Review Source:I really want to like La Fiesta. Â After all, it's my husband's favorite Mexican restaurant. Â Ever. Â Why??? Â I think it's because he grew up on La Fiesta, whereas I grew up in California where we have real Mexican food everywhere.
I find the chicken VERY dry. Â On tacos, doraditas, quesadillas, anything. Â It really puts a damper on every meal I've had here.
Three stars is for the chips. Â The chips are actually REALLY good. Â They sell them in the grocery store now (at least Hansen's), so you don't have to go in to buy them.
Haven't been here in a while and I remember why now. I can cook way better mexican food than this place. The service sucks. No booze(margaritas might make the food more tolerable). My 4yr old said his stomach hurt an hour later after eating, then he threw up. Hopefully they go out of business soon.
Review Source:I may be slightly biased to this particular restaurant as I have been eating here since it opened in 1987, but I also have a good basis to go on. I grew up eating home made Mexican food and lived in the Southwest for a period of time so I may also have a good grasp of what good Latino food is.
From the home made tortilla chips to the succulent Barbacoa meat, there isn't anything that I haven't enjoyed at this restaurant. Well, except for the Mexican Bread pudding.
In short, this restaurant is not only a great little place to get some good Mexican food, it has been a wonderful addition to the city of Hart.
Very unauthentic Mexican food ironically cooked by real mexicans.
I'm 25 and have been coming here all my life. Â The same folks are serving food today that were serving it 15 years ago.
My old man used to bring a bottle of Tabasco sauce in his pants pocket because the salsa is a step below "mild." Â Each time we would go my dad would ask for spicier salsa than the ketchup they gave us, and they would come out with something that looked different but was never any spicier. Â My mom would always feel humiliated when the waitress would spot the bottle of hot sauce my dad was hiding behind his Diet Coke.
Last time we went we forgot the Tabasco. Â
I do LOVE the Mexican pizza. Â It is the only dish I've ever ordered. Â Fifteen years of Mexican pizzas only, and I stand by that decision. Â
If you want anything that remotely resembles Mexican cuisine, don't get your hopes up. Â La Fiesta wouldn't excite even the blandest palate. Â The food here would go well in the Walker's nursing home dining room down the street.
For starters, they need to make up their minds about seating customers. Are we supposed to wait in line, as the sign says, or are we supposed to jump the line and help ourselves to a table (like the tourists do during Stupid Season)?
The restaurant isn't very clean; I've asked for clean cutlery more than once. The tables aren't cleaned very well between diners and lord forbid they should get the food off the chairs and floors.
The food is average. Canned chicken, canned enchilada sauce, canned mole--I can do this at home.
On the plus side, I will say that the owner is one hunka fella and very genial. If only one could say that about the locals who work there.
