Lago De Chapala Mexican Restaurant

Recommended by tasting room staff. Absolutely Nothing special.  We had better Mexican food from a truck outside of a supermarket in Newburge. The chips were store bought. The fajitas were drenched in a funky tomato based sauce. The seafood enchilada was bland. Service was ok.

I work in Yamhill, but haven't explored the eateries yet.  So I was on a mission to try Zippy's Pizza - until I realized they were closed for a few days after Christmas.  Thankfully the Mexican restaurant on the next block was open.  I loved the staff at Lago de Chapala because they let me in even though it was technically ten minutes prior to their opening time.  I loved the colorful dining room, but opted to sit at the bar since I was dining solo.  I ordered a plain cheese quesadilla and was impressed by it's massive size.  I almost laughed when it was served to me because it was arranged on this gargantuan party platter.  It was two 12-inch tortillas stuffed with good cheese (not the super oily cheese that you often find in Mexican restaurants).  I was only able to eat about three slices and brought the rest home for my boyfriend.

Oh.  I forgot to mention the chips.  They didn't taste like anything special, but they were served warm so they get props for that.  There's just something fun about crunching on warm tortilla chips.
