I've dined at the Lake House (both times for lunch) with friends. All of us coming from Roxboro,NC to shop at the various shops there in Clarksville, VA. The lunches were superb with little wait. Also the wait staff  were very friendly and a lot of fun!!!

I'm always telling people to see the beautiful lake, enjoy the quaintness of the town and be sure to dine at The Lake House!!

I echo the sentiments of the reviewer who called this "Pleasantville". Right down to the family seated next to us who were having a lengthy conversation about the upcoming church picnic thingy.

The menu didn't go out on any culinary limbs, but our food (a cobb salad and a tuna salad sandwich) was well done and served by our friendly server.

We drive through Clarksville on our way to DC, and I'd have no problem stopping here again.

    Pleasantville, defined--

Lunch at the Lake House Restaurant was like something out of a black and white movie.  The only way I can describe it is based almost entirely off our waitress, Melody.  Spunky, charming, and honest - more on the honesty part later.

Melody ran down the list of specials and the regular items worth sampling like a pro.  Like Radio Shack, we had questions, she had answers.  Between us, a couple cups of chicken and rice soup, salads, turkey burger, quesadilla, hot ham and cheese and probably something I'm forgetting were ordered.  There we no complaints from around the table  --  all that was heard was the sound of silverware clinking and lips smacking.  Oh, wait, and the truck that passed by twice, blasting foreign rap, with absolutely no bass.

Now look, if you're going to pump up the volume for everyone in a three block radius to hear, and and there's lots of repititive cymbals, high hats and samples, make sure you have some bass to drown it out.  It's still a huge distraction, but at least I might be head-boppin' while laughing and taking smartphone video of you, instead of commenting on said missing low frequencies.

After my turkey burger (which was better than average TB, as hard as that is), we had planned on getting back to work...until Ms. Melody (no, not the late 80's temporarily talented rapper, temporarily married to KRS-One - sample here--http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFCsUJazN4I), the waitress. She mentioned dessert.  What could it hurt to see the menu?  A lot.  Since the menu was not a menu...it was the tray with the samples.

Son of a bitch.  There was a quadruple chocolate mousse cake.  I said 'quadruple' back to her as if a) she was lying, or b) I couldn't count the layers displayed in front of my face.  Who could turn down homemade dessert?  We could, since were were quickly told 'it's not homemade' by Melody.  Now keep in mind, she could have left that out.  Who were we?  Cake Bosses?  As if we would know.  This is the honesty part I menitoned earlier.  They way she said it was perfectly timed...funny.

Welp, regardless I had to have it.  An oreo-esque crusty bottom layer, with the darkest chocolate mousse on the bottom, working up to white chocolate on top.  Homemade or not, I loved it.

I enjoyed every aspect of this restaurant, and would not hesitate to go back.  I might not want to go back to Clarksville itself, but if (and most likely, when) I find myself there again, I will go back.
