OMG! OMG! Â This was the best food we've had in a long time. Â Much much better than Oklahoma Joe's the day before. Â The tenderloin was big enough to feed 4 people. Â It covered the entire platter and was cooked perfectly! Â The service was outstanding. And the beer was ice cold - a real rarity on the west side of the state for some reason. Â We will definitely put the Landing at the top of our favorite places to eat.
Review Source:Great neighborhood place! Â Great menu--variety of quality food! Â Try the BLT!! Â Great food/drink specials and if there is a game you want to see they have it here! Â Bands on the weekends--REALLY something for everyone! Â Great for lunch, we even took our daughter's soccer team there for our end of the season gathering on a weekend afternoon. Â CHECK IT OUT!
Review Source:This place has really upgraded in the last few years. It's no longer smells like a smoking lounge. The TV situation has gone from sub-par to well above average.
This review only speaks to weekday nights before 10pm, I've only been there on the weekends or after 10pm a few times.
This is one of the cheaper places to drink in KC that I've been to. They always have great happy hour deals and nightly specials. I believe happy hour is always 2-for-1, you get two (12oz) draws for pretty cheap (~$2). On Thursday nights, you get a burger (choice of cheese) and fries or tots, with a pint for $5 total. Great deal. They dont skimp on their specials like many places either. The burger isnt cooked to order, but its still a  decent 1/3 pounder with all the sides. They give you a copious amount of tots or fries. I can usually only drink 2-3 beers afterwards because I'm bursting at the seams.
I'm not a regular here, but the service and specials are always great when I am there.
My rating is based on the pub experience alone. I stopped in for happy hour to catch up with an old friend. Drinks were CHEAP! And although I had to leave to meet my parents for dinner, I was wishing I had another hour to spend. The atmosphere is laid back, and faces seem friendly, which equates to a perfect stop for a cold one on the way home. I would imagine they bring in a crowd for football on Sundays too.
A little tricky getting in the parking lot if you're heading South on 291, but I managed to bust a Uee and circle back to my destination.
Had lunch here today with my office crowd. Â We all ordered the special, except one of us who ordered the cheese burger. Â The special today was a chicken salad sandwich and chips. Â I substituted fries for the chips and two others substituted onion rings for the chips. Â
My co-worker who had the burger said it wasn't as greasy as the last burger she had at The Landing.
I thought the chicken salad was good - craisns, yellow raisins, or walnut chunks would have made the salad really good. Â There was an abundant amount of chicken salad on the croissant and also lettuce and tomato.
The fries were the 'coated' fries and they were good - a bit salty but a good side for the salad. Â I enjoyed those more than I would have enjoyed chips, which were served in as a single serving bag of Lays plain potato chips.
The lunch atmosphere is cool and quiet. Â Its a good environment to eat and chat. Â The place wasn't packed but there were a steady stream of customers.
Several menu items caught my eye for my next trip back. Â The BLT and the Fish and Chips.
The Landing runs daily lunch specials and its a good location for a quick lunch.
There's nothing "cool" about The Landing. You go there to drink. You go there for sports TV. You go there to hear a favorite band. Sometimes you go there for a burger and a cold beer. You go there to meet friends after work. You DON'T go there for a hoity-toity atmosphere, yuppy company or gourmet food. It is what it is...a nice, solid, well-run local eatery and pub. The menu is solid. Decent burgers and sandwiches. Hot wings are above average. Nothing pretentious about The Landing. I feel comfortable there. A good place.
Review Source:As popular as this place is, I can't believe it hasn't been reviewed yet.
The Landing seems in many ways at first like a typical suburban sports bar, but it's locally owned and has the feel of a local place.
The food is pretty good, with different daily happy hour specials. Â Drinks are also half price during happy hour, making for a great deal.
There's regularly scheduled live music. Â UFC and other sports events are featured here, and there's also Golden Tee tournaments.
Our server was friendly and attentive, and made sure our drinks never went dry.
Business is down considerably since the smoking ban, but it should rebound soon. Â There's a shaded patio at the west end of the place.
The only downside is that there's often a cover charge on weekend evenings.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention -- help yourself to free popcorn at the bar.
