Lane Southern Orchards

My wife and I stopped for lunch and to shop. We each got a Reuben, it was the worst sandwich I have ever had. The meat was very tough and sliced so thick I could not even bite it. I brought it back to the counter (something I never do). The cashier didn't hesitate to get me a turkey sandwich instead. My wife just threw hers away.
I thought I could make it up to her in the retail store. So over priced; we left and went to McDonalds.

If I could give this place no stars I would.  I ordered a french dip sandwich, what I got was a piece of charcoal that was completely inedible.  They needed to spend less time burning the sandwich and more time cooking the raw french fries.  I was just passing through and thought it would be a good place to stop for lunch but my advice is just keep on driving.  I wouldn't even recommend their  pecan pie.  There are mom and pop fruit stands much closer to the highway that have peaches if that is all you want and if you want food - don't do it.

Lane Orchards is a middle Georgia staple in the heart of Peach County.  They have a cafe, a large farm with various produce, shop with food items and baked goods, and little tours.  

The one thing that I cannot understand, and if someone from Lane can please explain this to us, what the heck is up with the high prices!?  This is GEORGIA.  The peaches are grown RIGHT THERE ON THE PREMISES!  Quit charging us locals the transportation costs and everything else and make it affordable for us to actually keep stopping by over and over rather than going to Kroger or Publix to buy out of state peaches for much less.  In Massachusetts, of all places, when you go to an apple orchard, for example, you leave with bushels of apples for a heck of a deal and come back for more.  This is not what I feel here.  I want to keep coming back, but if buying fresh peaches is going to dent my wallet, then I'd rather patronize the big supermarket chains.
