Last Turn Saloon

The Last Turn Saloon is a nice atmosphere to hang out and have a drink.  We have been back a number of times and always enjoy the ability to hang out in the booths looking out over the bar area.  

The food is okay - but not great.  It is a great alternative to other chain restaurants in the area.

We like this place for the atmosphere and will be back.

One of the best bars in Brainerd to sit down with friends at and get decent conversation without deafening music or juke box wars. The decor is excellent, the backbar is a transplant from the Pilsbury mansion, and the rest of the bar is very well done in lots of wood and tiffany style light fixtures. The booths are high walled and afford a good spot for small groups to have private conversations or a little solitude with their meal, and they have some nice circular tables on the main floor that can accommodate 6 comfortably and up to 10 or so if people don't mind rubbing elbows. There is a pool table/private room in back. Their food is good, better than one would expect from a bar, and has some interesting menu choices including specialty burgers. They serve free peanuts and popcorn, and have a policy of chucking your shells on the floor which gives it very casual atmosphere (and is actually great for conditioning the wood floor). It is of course a full bar and there is a decent beer selection, although a little sparse if you're a beer snob, and a few good single malts. I'm rating 5 stars based on the merit of the establishment, and the area it's in. In a smaller area like Brainerd, for this type of bar this is as good as it gets. Correction, 4 stars, rating anything 5 stars with yelp makes it a good bet it'll just be filtered and therefore a complete waste of time to bother writing.

Nice alternative in the Brainerd-area to all the usual chain restaurants...

Once you walk in through the front doors, you go down a set of stairs to the establishment. There you'll find plenty of tables, a bunch of booths that look down upon the tables, and an old-style saloon bar.

Lunch menu had plenty of different sandwiches, and a few salads. Beer on tap, and I'm assuming a full bar.

The sandwich I had was great -- a Last Turn Grilled Turkey Pepper Melt (subtract the peppers). It was delicious... pepper jack cheese, plenty of turkey, and some bacon. I substituted the marbled rye bread for grilled 12 grain.

Service was friendly, fast, and efficient.

Oh and they serve you popcorn when you sit down. It was really good popcorn too! :)
