Overall excellent experience.  This was our first visit here after hearing about it from some friends.  We are more of the sports bar and beer type and here is more like a wine and cheese establishment.  Saying that, we went in knowing this, so  don't fault the restaurant.  We were seated quickly and received our drinks. Our waitress was the owner Sylvia.  She was extremely hospitable and made us feel like we were friends at her house. She gave us the backstory of the restaurant and how her and her husband opened it about eight months ago. Her husband Michael is the chef.  While we went for dinner, they also have a breakfast and lunch menu as well. I ordered the Ribeye special and the wife had scallops.  After dinner, we met Michael. I told him this was one if the best steaks I have had in a long time. If you are a Ruth Criss fan, I compared it to their steaks. Perfectly cooked and seasoned well here.  Scallops were awesome too.  Portions were large and we couldn't finish, which is rare. We wanted dessert, but way too full. Both owners were looking for feedback and had the attitude to listen to customers to improve. In my opinion, they exceeded expectations and I would recommend this place to my friends.
Review Source:After reading the reviews I couldn't wait to take the family there for a breakfast. Â With St. Marys landing being pretty much the only breakfast place in Mechanicsville(and they suck) I thought having another one nearby would be great. Â We went on Saturday Jan 5th 2013. Â
We arrived a little late @ 10am to avoid early morning rushes. Â Well when we arrive their was only one other customer in the restaurant. Â We (Myself, wife, son and daughter) were not greeted and after standing for several minutes just asked if we should seat ourselves. Â We were told to sit wherever we would like. Â We sat and then waited for 5 minutes before our drink order was taken. Â drinks were then brought shortly thereafter. Â We place our orders and waited. Â And waited..and waited. Â After 25 minutes our orders arived and they were all mixed up. Â The bacon was with the wrong plate the sausage was missing from another the wrong egg prep for another, Â etc. Â It was almost comical how it was mixed up so completely. Â They took the orders back and swapped everything onto the proper plates and had them back out in about 2minutes. Â The food was very good but there were many issues. Â The breakfast potatoes on everyones plate were cold and of uneven proportions. Â My daughter had half a plate full while my plate had very few (we ordered the exact same meal). The meats were all lukewarm and the eggs were all still hot. My daughter and I order scrambled and they were fine. Â My wife and son ordered ove reasy and received hard fried all the way through. Â My son said the pancakes were very good but cold. Â My daughter was really enjoyning her french toast and said it was "alittle" warm. Â I was still waiting for mine. Â We asked about my french toast and my wife buttered toast and were told they forgot them. Â My french toast arrived approx 5 minutes later. Â My wife buttered toast never arrived. Â With all the screw ups we didn't bother asking again. Â The only reason I gave this any stars is because they food tasted excellent. Â My french toast (once it finally arrived) was delicious! Â The cook obviously does not know how to time food so everything arrives hot at the same time. Â I am not sure who screwed up all the orders (waitress or cook) but being as it was so thoroughly inept it doesnt really matter. Â While we all agreed we like the taste we wanted our orders hot (or at least everthing warm) and cooked as ordered. Â The prices seemed very resonable for the taste of the food but being as the portion sizes varied from plate to plate I have no idea what the standard portion is at this establishment. Â We all agreed it would most likely not be someplace we would frequent again. Â I could have understood if they were busy and had alot of orders to handle but there was only one other person in the place. Â Sorry but we really wanted a new weekend breakfast place (and maybe dinner) but i guess we will keep waiting. Â
Also I noticed your daily special sign list things on the menu for the same price as in the menu. Â What makes these specials? Â Are the portions larger or something?
