The staff is friendly and it's right on the bay, which is a nice touristy spot. Â The food was overpriced and not really what I was expecting for the price. Â There are definitely better places to go to if you are wanting some good seafood, and not wanting to hand over body parts to pay for it
Review Source:I seldom write a review but I must in this case. Maybe 10 or more years ago, Stoney's was picked for the best crab cake in the Wash DC area and I agreed the times I went, but that was 6 or more years ago and yesterday they now have the worst crab cake I've ever tried to eat. It was dry, over cooked and mostly bread filling. It's was pathetic. The service was good and the steamed crabs were good. Â The crab soup (tomato based) was very good.
Review Source:I love coming to Stoney's after a day of being out on the boat. We always drive right up, dock and pick a table. Usually the service is pretty fast but this past weekend it was ridiculously slow. The drinks are always strong and definitely worth the money, I think their specialty is the orange crush but they're not my fav. I did try I think a cherry lime drink which was also really good and not super sweet like you'd think, it was perfect. My family ordered the cheeseburger sliders which came with 4 burgers topped with cheese and caramelized onions. They were soooooo good! I don't usually like getting hamburgers out but those were the best little bites I've ever had, made me want to order a big one for my meal. It was so juicy and cheesy and the onions were delish! The crab cake platter for the day was $28 with two 5oz crab cakes and 2 sides. I went with the corn on the cobb and the green beans. Both sides were so bland and blah! How do you make bad corn on the cob?! It had a funny taste and I couldn't figure it out, maybe some lemon got on it? Just weird. The crab bakes were a good size, my mom's crab cake sandwich was huge! I believe 8oz? Although the crab cakes were voted Best Crab Cakes by Washington Post, I have to disagree. There was a little more filler and they looked a little smaller than normal. The waiter did say that there has been a shortage of crabs this summer so makes sense... but the price for less crabmeat doesn't! Beautiful view right on the water and they always have events or live music, definitely worth checking out for a fun night at the bar.
