I'm torn here between a 3 and 4 star rating....so I think I will give Lefty's the benefit of the doubt. Â I had a previous experience here when Lefty's first opened and swore I would never come back. Â Well that brings two things to light; 1) Never swear and 2) Everyone deserves a second chance. Â Last nights meal put them back on my "To visit" list. Â The food has vastly improved as has the service. Â Their home style meals are very good and nicely priced. Â Great selection of apps which by the way go half price every night at 8pm. Â Decent selection of tap beers but I think for a "tavern" there should be a few more. Â Had a cheese steak which was packed with meat and what looked like a pound of provolone cheese. Â Very good. Â Desserts are exceptional. Â Oh, the Mrs. says try the Salmon BLT. Â See you there.
Review Source:We absolutely LOVE it at Lefty's. We dine there at least 2-3 times a month & we have NEVER had a bad meal. The kids' menu is very large with great options & there is tons to choose from on the regular menu. We even had Thanksgiving dinner there & it was super! I highly recommend Lefty's!
Review Source:Normally my husband and I, and 6 of our friends have had positive things to say about Lefty's after dining there together on numerous occasions. The food has usually been good, if not excellent, as has been the service. This week when we were seated, we noticed that most of the patrons were wearing their coats while dining. One of our party had called earlier to make sure the heat was working, as it hasn't been the week before. She was assured it was, but it was not. We froze for almost two hours. When we asked to speak to the manager, the owner came to our table and told us it would cost him about $40,000 to replace his heater (not our problem), and that if we were cold, we should leave. He was rude, obnoxious and totally unprofessional. Was he never told about the customer always being right? We should have left, as the food was cold too.
This was a horrible experience and we won't be going back there.
This was my 5th time here before writing a review. Â Cheese steak with fried onions and mushrooms is perfect. Â Fries are perfect. Â Went this week and had chicken francaise. Â Well done, and I didn't realize that being there at 5:30 qualified me for an early bird special for $10.99. Â 2 pieces of battered chicken on a bed of linguine with a good lemon, garlic, white wine sauce with a soup or salad ( I chose the tomato bisque) and a dessert.
I was informed that the regular menu gives you a larger portion, but mine was just right. Â You will be taking food home if you order the regular portion. Â GF had a plain burger, cooked medium rare that came just as ordered. Â Also, the service is prompt and not fussy. Â the French dip is also excellent. Â
What you notice mostly is that the parking lot is always PACKED and there is usually a waiting line to get a table anywhere in this joint. Â The bar is always SRO because they have great bartenders who are animated and make great drinks. Â The dessert was called a tuxedo something I think, and was probably not made on premise, a chocolate torfufo, but the presentation was just fine with interlaced drizzles of chocolate and cherry sauce with dollops of whipped cream.
The patrons are mostly older folks and they are usually the hardest to please, so when I see that, I am convinced that this is a business that is running well and doesn't need my little contribution. Â GF and I both agree that the value here is excellent and the atmosphere, while busy, is deservedly so and the great food is why they continue to come back. Â 5 stars without a doubt. Â Oh yeah, the early bird menu is available all day on Sunday.
Its like Groundhog Day. Southern Ocean County is flooded with places exactly like this: Nice-sized spaced bar that tries to be more than what it is; with awful food and often atrocious service. If you've been to one then you've been to them all!.. And honestly there all worth missing! See also my reviews of some of these other dumpster fires of dinning (ie-Tuckerton Pub..Tuckerton Grill..Calloways..Caffery's) and you will get the gist. They're all basically the same place.
Now as for THIS place--.Service sucked and I had one of the worst hamburgers Ive ever eaten here. McDonalds does better. What a complete and utter travesty. Really not much more to say here.
Went in for the Mother's Day brunch.
It was buffet style with, breakfast and lunch options. Â As far as buffet food goes it was good. Â The price was very fair. Â The place is very clean and looks good. Â The waitress was also very attentive. Â I'd like to go back and try it again on a regular day.
