I held a lunch party for 40 in the private banquet room and everything went perfectly. Tony Gallardo went way out of his way to accomodate me. The food and service was great! They even had four mounted TVs that we played slideshows and old family movies on straight from my laptop. I most definitely recommend this place for an event.
Review Source:The restaurant is rather large and cavernous, but airy due to the fact that there are large windows looking out onto the country club. The building has a certain mid-century look to it so that you might expect to see a Getty or Ford or Eisenhower to come in for a martini (Gin, of course) or Manhattan and a steak.
I came to Leon's twice in a 24 hour period.  First was on a Saturday night in their banquet room that also supplied us with a full bar and bartender.  There was a groaning board full of many different cheeses, nuts, fruits, breads, and the obligatory shrimp cocktail.  All were good and a nice touch for  pre-prandial noshes to go with our wines and cocktails ordered from a most amiable bartender.
I opted for their grilled Sole which was rather decently cooked.....it came out moist, flakey, sweet with some sea minerality with garlic mashed potatoes, and steamed veggies........Not bad for the price of $35. Â
The following Sunday, I went with friends to "Leon's at Desert Princess Champagne Sunday Brunch" which for $16 included all you can drink Vin Mousseux  (Obviously, at this price, it could not be "Champagne".)  Be sure you get the one that says "Roget" and not the other sparkling wine since it is comparable to or worse than "Andre".
The offerings were: Â
Chile Relleno; Ham & Cheese Omelette; Huevos Rancheros, Corn Beef Hash & Poached Eggs; Egg Benedict or Crab Benedict; Country Fried Steak or Veal Pot Roast; 1/2 of a Roasted Chicken; Short Ribs; Frilled Sole with Sauce; New York or Chicken Caesar Salad; Chicken Cranberry Salad, Lox & Bagel; Shrimp Louie. Â
I chose the Short Ribs which were braised nicely and the seasonings associated with the braising liquid were flavourful. Â It was accompanied by the standard garlic mashed potatoes & steamed veggies. Â It was very decent for a $16 meal. Â
The service at Leon's is friendly and willing to please once you let them know what you want. Â If you're looking for Haute Cuisine, you will not find it at Leon's, but if you're looking for good bang for the bucks with food that is a good deal for the price, then Leon's is for you. Â I feel that Leon's is a bargain since you get a little bit more than what you paid for.
We ate at the "new" Leon's at the Doral for a Great Autos of Yesteryear function. Â Unfortunately, the space for the restaurant isn't great. Â Very plain- nothing really stands out as even nice or interesting. Â What's more unfortunate is the food was really bad. Â Granted- this was a function for 100 people and it may not be 100% fair to judge on the food taste and quality for a group dinner.
Review Source:AWFUL......The word "fresh" is not in their vocabulary. Everything we ordered was overdone and dry. The service was poor and we waited forever for our food, even though there were only 4 tables occupied in the dining room. Â The views are nice, but the decor can best be described as charm free.
Review Source:As a DP owner, this was my second visit and still underwhelmed. Â Service was good and the waitress recognized us from our first horrible visit! Â I ordered the country fried steak and it tasted like is was a frozen patty instead of something fresh! Â The portion was small, so I asked for bread, only to be told they don't serve bread, but crackers. Â WHAT? Â Super low budget!
Review Source:New location, same great menu and service. Went here with my favorite dining companion and four other amusing dining companions. Our other companions knew the wait staff and owner, not that it affected our level of service, since everyone around us got the same great service and was raving about the food. The views are still wonderful from the Desert Princess, so the bit of pettiness I overheard from some clientele about the views not being as good are clearly some people resistant to change or boorish snobs. Go here on Sunday and avoid the Pinocchio's crowd!
Review Source:One of the best places to eat in the desert. And love their new location at the Desert Princess. Had the rack of lamb for dinner, the best that I have ever had. Went to lunch also, had the fish and chips, it was great!!!!!! Went with 5 people and we all loved our meals. The cowboy steak is wonderful and man size. Rare to see a cowboy steak on the menu. You will have a great and enjoyable dinner anytime at Leons.
Review Source:Came here for a nice wonderful sunday brunch with my friends, and boy I like the menu especially the champagne all you can drink.
Had a wonderful experience and our waitress was super cool.
The restaurant was really packed and it is definitely recommended to call in to reserve before going there especially on the week end.
Recommended.
I'm a fan of both versions of this restaurant (north and south). The north restaurant is a throwback to the 1960s and has an amazing view of the Disney fountain. The menu is somewhat limited but the views kind of make up for that. The south restaurant has more of an 80's feel and serves breakfast and lunch with a more varied menu. The views of the mountains from this spot are spectacular.
Review Source:I came here for brunch with some friends that go there every week. It was impressive that they handled our party of 28 people so smoothly.
Brunch is $15 with champagne. It doesn't get any cheaper. There's a fixed menu and you order an entree. I had the country fried steak which was OK. The man sitting next to me ordered the lox and bagel. His was the better choice. A dinner plate with tomatoes, cucumber and chopped lettuce, loaded with lox, capers and accompanied by a toasted bagel. Throughout brunch, the wait staff kept the champagne flowing along with orange juice.
A piano player performed during the brunch, adding a nice touch.
I'll be back next time I'm in Palm Springs.
We came here for Brunch today with the original Brunch friends and what a ball we had! Â We were seated within 15 minutes in spite of a hugely packed lobby and dining room....somebody knows how to run a dining room right.
I was almost overtaken with the spectacular views of the Indian Canyon Gold Course and the beautiful San Jacinto mountains. Â Champagne was being poured before I had even glanced at the menu, which was short and sweet and I knew that Eggs Benedict would be on my agenda. Â To my surprise everyone else ordered New York Steak Sandwich, while I stuck to the Benedict after being assured by Ana that their Hollandaise was wonderful (since I make the BEST Hollandaise in the world...I am very very picky).
Our brunch was served in perfect timing after having time for some champagne and great conversation....steaks looked fabulous, cooked to perfection, and OOOOH...that Hollandaise...yummy (almost as good as mine!).
All this, and more champagne for only $15??? Â What??? Â What can I say....except WE WILL BE BACK AND BACK AGAIN!!!!
Wow! Fun find!
Leon's is a bit old school in many ways, but it's old school in a good way. Just don't expect modern, "ultra lounge" surroundings here and you'll be fine.
The menu is vast ... and varied. We dined here for dinner and you'll find dishes that will satisfy your retired mom and pop (meatloaf, sand dabs, abalone) and some that are a bit more mainstream (filet, baby back ribs, 1/2 roasted chicken).
But let's get down to what's really important here ... the drink. I ordered a gin martini (if you read my reviews, you know gin is usually somewhere in there). Bombay is the house gin ... hooray for that. The shaker is brought to the table and it's a full shaker that filled my 8-ounce martini glass twice. Fantastic start, I must say.
Each dinner comes with soup or salad. I ordered the blue cheese dressing on the salad, which was very unique. It's not some ultra-thick mayonnaise based dressing. Instead it was more of a light oil with a huge amount of blue cheese crumbles ... delicious.
We both ordered the baby back ribs and at $26/plate (including the salad), we were shocked at the portion size. Two generous rib portions per plate, smothered in bbq sauce arrived at our table. The meat was juicy and oh-so-tender. The meat fell off the bones easily. We both ended up coming home with a whole rack of ribs each. This dish was served with corn on the cob and fries, but they were happy to substitute other sides (rice, veggies, etc.).
Service was friendly, attentive, and efficient.
It was a very cold night here in the desert on the night we dined there and the place was freezing. I'm not sure how the geriatric set was able to stand it, but at 42 I was one of the younger ones in the joint and was a popsicle. Generally (and obviously) this would not be a problem most of the year.
Views are spectacular from the dining room. We also enjoyed some live lounge music playing all the favs of my older siblings and parents. It was fun.
Loved it! Â Came for the Champagne Sunday Brunch special.
The choices were as follows:
Chicken Pot Pie
Country Friend Steak & Gravy
Coconut Shrimp & Coleslaw
N.Y. Steak Sandwich
Brisket of Beef
Leg of Lamb
Eggs Benedict
Lox & Bagel
Ham and Cheese Omelet
Crab Cakes Salad
Don's Crab Louie Salad
Cheese Crepes with Fresh Fruit
Jimmy's Waffle & Berries
I had the Crab Cakes Salad which was pretty good. Â The Champagne was very good as well. Â Service was excellent and the view overlooking the golf course was fantastic.
Price was only $15. Â That's a VERY good brunch for that price!
Highly recommended!
Thank you Leon's!!  Last month I had a surprise 10th Anniversary Party for my daughter at the Worldmark Resort in Indio!  The pressure was on because my daughter is  a high end caterer and all her friends are big "Foodies"!  Other caterers had nothing unique and affordable to offer me or they wouldn't come out to Indio (40 mins outside PS).  Tony was great! He took time to offer different choices, unique food AND worked within my budget! We went with Jamaican food and it was wonderful. The porkloins were oozing with juices and the portions were surprisingly large!  We even had a friend fly in from Jamaica  and she loved it.  Marcella set up a beautiful display and even sat patiently, being held captive, until my daughter arrived and the "Surprise" was called out.  She arrived promptly and came back on time to remove the dishes and chaffing dishes.  I  would highly recommend Leon's !!! (Indian Canyon Country Club).  btw I was referred to them by a long time resident of Palm Springs.
Review Source:You can't go wrong at Leons, the best kept secret in Palm Springs! Â Now that they've expanded into the old Canyon Country Club (Palm Springs National) space its even better.
You can enjoy Leon's delicious traditional American comfort food in a funky old clubhouse overlooking the greens with stunning mountain and fairway views.
I've never ordered anything at Leon's I didn't like. Â Its real basic burgers, sandwhiches, salads, etc. Â Always consistent, always good. Â Service is good too.
i'm realizing everywhere i went this week was just ok. whats up in PS right now? i know you can do better. Well, enter The canyon club. It used to be down the road and i believe moved a while back as the lease ran out a few years ago. someone funded it and they did a beautiful job of relocating. i love the dining room here, overlooking the amazing golf course.
Brunch use to be buffet but is not only sit-down. Even so, they have a great selection. I have no idea on pricing as there were no prices on the menu. but we had the Eggs Benedict, ham omelet, leg of lamb and a steak sandwich between the 5 of us. champagne is included as are all fluids (juice, coffee, etc). Photos in the gallery.
I am guessing... I'll be back.
They try hard and the view is great. Â Leon's is the new public restaurant at the newly public Indian Canyon golf club. Â The place has a real 60's feel and needs some updating, but the huge Windows overlooking a huge fountain, the golf course and the mountains is timeless. Â The wait staff is eager , but unorganized. I hate it when a place has enough staff, but can't pull off good service. Â The food is OK to very good. Â The drink are strong, but service from bar is spotty. Â Overall, this could be a great place but is just OK for now.
Review Source:I had dinner here 1 week after they opened. The chicken was cool pink in the center. I got a sincere apology from the waiter, but didn't go back for a while. 2 weeks ago I had a lovely Caesar salad and a few days ago a nice burger. Unfortunately, the service is not friendly or cordial, but extremely pedestrian. Like they were just "doing their job". The restaurant does seem very clean and the view and property in general are quite picturesque.
Review Source:First, this restaurant has moved to Leon's at the Canyon, 1097 Murray Canyon Road, Palm Springs, CA. 92264, (760) 416-4421
I have been here for breakfast and for lunch on various occasions both with large and small groups. Â The view is 5 stars with majestic panorama of the canyons and mountains of Palm Springs. Â Attentive service, excellent food at very reasonable prices. Â
Presentation is just ok, and the variety of menu choices are pretty basic, but quality is a mainstay here.
Definitely a place worth taking out of towner and locals alike.
