This place was so empty, not sure why. Â Went on a saturday night at 11:30. Â The gin and tonic I got was pretty strong. Â There was a dancing floor, with lots of seating. Â Not many other people dancing than myself. Â Before 1am, they played rap from the 90's, current rap and hip hop, then after 1am it went to more of pop for people in their early to mid 20's. Â Not more than 20 people ever showed up. Â Hopefully this place holds up. Â Strong drinks, clean space and bathrooms and nice music.
Review Source:I've gone to this bar twice on different weekend afternoons, and both times the door has been locked (this sign says it opens at 11.00 AM.) Â I don't know what the deal is, but it pissed me off.
Why the extra star? Â This upstairs bar used to be called "Elevation." The new owners took the same sign letters, bought a # 2 and rearranged them to spell "Level 2." Â Oh, you tacky geniuses.
I was really shocked when entering this bar and even more shocked to find it empty.
This spot has changed owners numerous times (and previously this place was a gay friendly bar) and I guess I was just expecting another owner du jour trying to make money from some bar stools and a jukebox.
But this place was different. Sharp decor, a cool atmosphere, and good drinks makes this place a great place to meet up with some people.
Stopped in for a couple of drinks. Lisa, the bartender, put together an excellent (a.k.a. STIFF) gin and tonic, and she was super-friendly to boot. Happy hour goes until 8:00 every night of the week, and includes draft beer for $3 and well drinks for $4.
Lisa mentioned the challenges of transforming a gay bar (it was formally Elevations, and Sidewinders before that) into a straight bar, and it looks like they're giving it a good go -- although it was pretty dead when I was there. With pool tables, a dance floor, outside seating, and a very large bar, there's something for just about everyone. The place was also very clean, which is always nice.
