I suppose I'm not a "local". I suppose my kind isn't "welcome here". I went with a HUGE group of people that basically packed out The Liar's Saloon. We were all dressed up since we just left a rehearsal dinner for a wedding and we definitely got some "why are they all here" looks.
The Liar's Saloon is a spot where the locals of Montauk go when they're done with their day. It's a dive. When we all came and packed the place out, I don't think too many people were too happy. Yes, they have cheap beer and cheap liquor drinks. Yes, it's on the water. However, that's where it all stops. One bartender leads to everyone waiting for a while and when I'm getting harassed for my drink order, it makes me NOT want to go back inside for some more.
It was good for the occasion, but I wouldn't go back even if I was a local. It is what it is and I know this review won't stop it from being what it is. A dive for locals. I know they all enjoy it.
One of the divey-est of dive bars I have ever been to, so I love it.
Grabbed a mudslide and couldn't have been happier. Â $11 for pure joy served with a smile. Bar was littered with locals so I stuck out like a sore thumb.
And for you cheap bastards or budget conscious hard working folk ....$1 Draft Buds...
Have fun at this place...
