We stumbled upon this place only because we were headed to Kilauea Fish market on Sunday, however they were closed. The place looked cute and busy so we thought what the heck. Â Nice staff but awful food. I ordered the sandwich special of the day which was grilled chicken. Part of the breast was not cooked all the way. Â The vegetable and barley soup was terribly salty. My husband had the fish salad which he enjoyed but had a crappy cocktail. Â Very below average.
Review Source:This place is solidly average. Our waitress was helpful in pointing out that the scallops appetizer consisted of only ONE scallop for $12, so we chose the Kalua pork rolls (which were good, but not great). She was not very knowledgeable about the beer selection.
The food was middle of the road. I ordered the Kauai Prawns. There were a few prawns over some pasta with a good sauce. You have to order salads separately, no bread is served, and you're likely to leave hungry. Like most places on the island, you don't get a whole lot for the money. Unlike many places on the island, there's no breathtaking view and the ambiance is middle of the road.
I'm pretty sure this place gave me diarrhea, too. I was snorkeling when it hit me and I had to get out of the water and run back to our condo from the SeaLodge Beach... I almost didn't make it.
The sign in the dining room reads:
Bistro - A small restaurant serving moderately priced meals in a modest setting
This is partially true...the Lighthouse Bistro also means - great food and service too.
The Lighthouse Bistro has been one of my top picks for dinner dining for a few years. Â They get a 5-star for their consistency in good food, good prices and great service!
Many locals dine out here too - and its because its good and they don't gauge you on prices (unlike Bar Acuda's in Hanalei - yep, I'm still bitter about that meal). Â Lighthouse Bistro also is the right size to be able to accommodate a good number of patrons. Â
Husband had the catch of the day. Â I had the Seafood stew (appetizer) and the beet salad and I loved it so much that I didn't even bother to ask to taste my husband's meal! Â (That rarely happens).
Will be returning before we leave most definitely!!!
What an excellent find!! After eating pretty much every type of food in Kauai, this was a nice place to run into after checking out the farmers market next door. Â We arrived just in time for happy hour, they have 1/2 price Mai Tai's which are excellent. We returned the next day for dinner with our group. The food was excellent, the tomato basil soup does not disappoint. The swordfish was also a favorite, one of the kids got the pesto pasta which was bland, but with so many good things on the menu-pasta was the last thing that should have been ordered. I would definitely recommend this place.
Review Source:This place is so great. Â Such a killer vibe. Â Great HH Mai Tais, fries, ribs, you name it - I enjoyed it all. Â We didnt have a sit down dinner but opted for the bar area lounge seating and just ate and drank our way thru the evening. Â Highly recommend as there are not too many places like this off the beaten path most are in hotel areas. Â Hopefully you get to catch some live music - slack key - yes please.
Review Source:Stop in to this locals bar and enjoy some tropical drinks served, during the day, by one of the most friendly bartenders ever. Jenn rocks an awesome drink!
Come back in the evening and enjoy hanging with the regulars. Share stories and have a few laughs.
We spent a good part of our day here after hitting the beach pretty hard. We met some great new friends here and enjoyed some luscious tropical drinks that we'll never be able to imitate back home...
Came here on a recommendation from a friend who came here in 2000!
We got here, and were nicely greeted. Place is nice, open air and pleasant. Waitress was very knowledgable and let us know that we were in still in time for happy hours drinks! Mai Tai was yummy!
We ordered the edamame with teriyaki and ginger and the pork spring rolls. Wow! Best spring rolls we have ever had. I ordered the strip sirloin with asparagus and parsnip mash. Hubby ordered baked pork sirloin and son ordered the kids cheese burger and fries. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious, well seasoned and warm.
Yes, we found room for dessert. Boys ordered grasshopper pie and daughter and I ordered the raspberry creme brûlée. Phenomenal.
I hope it won't be another 18 years before I get to come back and enjoy this lovely place. Oh, did I mention the live entertainment?
This place is chill. Their menu is simple and definitely good! My favorites are fish rockets and beets salad. The restaurant has a resident cat (Mr. Chow) that roams around and might go share a chair with you. I thought it's cute because I'm an animal lover but if you're not then you might not dig Mr. Chow. I recommend this place...
Review Source:Had the tomato basil soup and it was fresh with the tomato flavor coming through, not being overpowered by the minced basil. Â Happy hour Mai tais tasty and the place has a fun bistro atmosphere. Â My blackened pork with coriander and pineapple was different and very good, served with red mashed potatoes. My husband's strip steak overcooked and he sent it back and out came another cooked just right on root vegetables and a balsamic glaze.
A nice break from Hawaiian food with Costco (Kirkland) salt and pepper brought to your table! Â The resident cat, Mr Chow makes his way from table to table out to enjoy a Saturday night with the band that started at 6 PM.
The location is nice too, with small shops enclosed and pictures with history of the authentic Hawaii nice to read.
We were looking forward to trying this place after reading some reviews and seeing the ad in Edible Hawaii, but we were really disappointed, especially with the severe attention deficit of the waitstaff.
We arrived at around 7:30 on a Thursday night. The place was fairly busy, and we were quickly seated. Nice place. Good first impression. We got menus and then waited...
Finally, our waiter arrived but seemed immediately distracted (maybe short staffed tonight? or maybe he really didn't care). He rattled off the specials like he had memorized them for his 4th grade history test--not very inviting. Oh we'll, I usually don't care much about service if the food is good. Pretty sure we were going to get fresh fish and a steak anyway.
1st round, cocktails: the "famous" Mai tai had no kick, worst one I had had in a week in HI, even though the guava was a nice bonus. It just tasted like fruit nectar with ice. We also ordered the Secret Beach, which we were them told was 86ed due to no more St. Germaine, OK, how about the guavarita? Oh, and by the way, the waiter forgot what we had ordered for entrees and needed some clarification. (Nitpicking here, but there was overall, just way too little attention to detail.)
Our salad and soup came. They were decent, but still no sign of a second cocktail. Finally, the cocktail was delivered but it had the opposite problem as the Mai tai. It was just bad tequila and a bit of juice, no salted rim, just one-note tequila. Gross.
Now would have been a good time to check up on us. We got the waiter's attention and asked what beer was on tap (with 1 still unfinished cocktail on the table, not that he noticed). He again rattled off a few, plus one we hadn't heard of before that he told us was an amber ale. We ordered amber and a glass of Malbec to go with the steak.
The beer was delivered (about 25% foam),but no way was that an amber ale, maybe in color but it was sour, like a saison or lambic. Fine. No wine though.
The entrees came (delivered by the bartender oddly enough). They were good. My steak was tasty but a bit dry. Should have ordered it rare instead of med-rare. But it sure would be better with a glass of red wine. Finally managed to get the waiter's attention while he was delivering someone else's wine. Hey remember us?
I told him the beer he brought was really good, but most people would probably think it was bad, since it was sour and not malty. His response was, oh, you must be beer aficionados. But he was still pretty unsure what was actually served to us when we asked again what it was.
Would we like to see the desert menu? Normally, yes, but we really didn't feel like giving them any more money. The bill finally came and we noticed they had charged us for the drink that was 86ed. Instead of apologizing, the waiter thanked us for noticing. Huh?
Anyway, the live slack key guitarist was pretty awesome. Best part of the meal.
Maybe I'd give them another chance when I return to kauai, but I'd make sure the same waiter and bartender aren't there anymore.
Seems like on our last visit they had more of a selection than they do now. Got the goat cheese salad with papaya seed dressing and it was delish... Service was a little slow however. Had one waiter and he seemed overworked with all the tables he was serving. Would return again in the future.
Review Source:Great food! We went on a Saturday night at about 7, and it wasn't crowded at all. There were a couple gentlemen playing classical guitar and the ambience was great. The restaurant itself is very open, but the weather was good.
Right as our food was served, a big, pretty grey cat jumped up on the rail beside us, and he joined us for the rest of our meal. The waiter asked if he was bothering us but we said no since he was adorable and wasn't being any trouble.
The food was great. We had edamame and bread with dipping sauces for appetizers, quite delicious. Don't remember the entrees specifically (I shouldn't have saved this draft before it was finished!) but the whole experience was enjoyable and cheap. We ended up going back two days later!
My wife and I dined here in celebration of our 40th wedding anniversary. Our reserved table was waiting for us upon arrival, with the local musician playing nearby.
The service was fast and efficient. Drinks were  ordered and arrived promptly as was the appetizer and our entrees. The Fish Rockets appetizer was excellent I had the Ginger Fresh Catch with Ahi and my wife had the Crater Hill Chicken. We raved about both of them, but the Ginger Fresh Catch won out as the best.
When on Kauai, especially near Princeville, do not miss having a dinner here
The exterior is not particularly inviting -- looks kinda like a hardware store, but the dining room is pretty and quiet, the bar is busy with a fast friendly bartender, and there's live music to boot. Food was surprisingly good -- had the Fish Rockets appetizer and the grilled ginger crusted swordfish. Nice selection of wine and beers 1/2 price during happy hour 4-6. Definitely your best option in Kilauea and one of the best on the North Coast.
Review Source:No idea how the food was, others who ate said "okay"
Why 1 star? We had a reservation for a large group. We waited 45 minutes past that time. We ordered drinks, waited, sat, waited. Finally they found a table for half of us. Okay, upset that for a special night out we'd already waited nearly an hour and now splitting the party in half...
We paid for our drinks, and went home for makeshift dinner. Look, I understand island time. I know large parties are tougher. But if you can't seat people within an hour of a reservation then don't book it.
I'm torn on how to rate Lighthouse Bistro. Â One the one hand the food was AMAZING! Â We had the appetizer special, seared ahi prepared two ways: blackened and sesame crusted, which was so good even our sushi-afraid people tried it and liked it. Then I really enjoyed the ginger crusted fish of the day - it was supposed to be Ono, but they ran out so I got Ahi - again SOOOOO GOOD!
...On the other hand, the service was TERRIBLE!!! Â First they were out of menus (too many large parties, was their excuse), then it proved difficult to get a drink order in. Â We were delighted to get to talk to the executive chef about the menu (which we had finally gotten just before he walked up - 30 min after our arrival) and specials. Â It took another 20 min. to place our order, then an HOUR to get our appetizers, and at least 30 min after that to get our entrees. Â At this point the kids in our group were literally asleep at the table. Â No one at the restaurant seemed to care, and they only comped one glass of wine and a Coors Light.
I get that we're on "Island Time", but this was WAAAY beyond "relaxed". Â This was unbelievable. Â
Lighthouse Grill, PLEASE fix the service problem! You've go everything else going for you! Â The place is adorable, amazing food, and great location - you could be the toughest venue to get into, with one little tweak.
I recommend this place, just be sure to take control of your service, not at it's mercy.
In fairness, I did not eat anything. Â I do have to say the happy hour can not be beat (at least not on Kauai or in Marin). Â A group of 5 had a round of beers for $10! Â Yes, that is right- half off on $4.00 pints = a real steal. Â Dropped it a star because the service was slloooowww, but what do you expect for $2 a pint? Â Cute place, and I hear the food is good too!
Review Source:Until we found Lighthouse Bistro, food in Kauai had been substantially sub-par. I was traveling with a friend and it didn't seem like we could find a perfect A+. We wanted to enjoy the food in hawaii as much as we did the beaches.
So reading about Lighthouse Bistro on Yelp was a great success. We had lunch there and enjoyed it so much, we came back for dinner. The fish rockets were delicious, and I generally hate fish passionately. The bread appetizer was only $3, and while it seemed pretty simple, when it came and we tasted it, it became clear that even this was a fine work of art. Oh, and the main courses. DON'T even get me started. For lunch I had the macadamia chicken (can't remember exactly what it's called), and for dinner I had the fusion chicken. Both were absolutely amazing! This place has a chef that clearly knows what he's doing, because these aren't run of the mill meals...there was a bit of innovation involved. THEY WERE SO GOOD THEY DESERVED A PARADE. A PARADE!
Also, service was friendly and speedy. It seemed as it our water magically filled, and our bread was replaced so swiftly we actually never noticed it came.
We went here twice - once for lunch and our last night on the island for dinner. Â Both times were very enjoyable. Â I had the chicken sandwich for lunch and it was awesome! Â Also LOVED the fresh cut fries. Â VERY tasty! Â For dinner I had the steak of the day (sirloin) which came with mushrooms and potatoes for $19 and my husband had the Blackened New York Strip. Â Both very good and the prices were reasonable for the island. Â I recommend the Mai Tais. Â They are very good, but beware as they are a bit on the strong side.
We had the Grasshopper Pie for dessert - mint chocolate ice cream pie. It was wonderful! Â Loved it!!
It was a bit loud for the dinner service, but we were seated behind a section of wall on the outside lanai area. Â I was a bit miffed at the location at first, but turned out to be ideal. Â It made it easier for my husband and I to converse.
The service was okay. Â Not spectacular, but okay for Kauai. This is the reason it was only 4 stars instead of 5. Â Perhaps it was our location behind the wall that made them forget about us periodically. Â Our previous lunch service was very good with the server being very attentive (but it was not as crowded either).
There was music the evening we were there. Â A beautiful young woman with an amazing voice singing - and I'm sorry to say - very boring music. Â I guess it was kind of a contemporary jazz/bluesy mix, but not just not my sort of tunes. Â I would have loved to have heard something a bit more folksy, but there doesn't seem to be much on the island in this regard.
Fun atmosphere, so-so food. We went in a Saturday night.
The Fish Rockets appetizer were a tasty take on spring rolls, filled with tender, raw ahi. The sauce was overly sweet though, and tasted like a standard, sweet and spicy dipping sauce for egg rolls. I would have liked to see a sauce for the rockets that didn't drown their flavor with sugar.
Ginger crusted Mahi-Mahi was delicate and juicy, but the flat layer of browned crust was not incorporated with the fish, and had an odd aftertaste, like burnt or powdered ginger. I found the sauce for this dish to be a disappointment as well. The wasabi aioli lacked the kick of wasabi, and had a bit of a chalky texture. On the plus side, the rice was nicely cooked, with just the right level of moisture. Also, the peppers and green beans had a pleasant savory seasoning.
The staff were pleasant and prompt. The roaming gray cat added to the outdoor bistro atmosphere. The Beach Jazz musicians were entertaining, without drowning out conversation, and their music fit nicely with the setting.
Good people of Kauai, Â the only way to kill this monster is for us to grab our pitchforks and tiki torches and storm the place. Â They can charge us a fortune for swill but they will never take our freedom! Â Who's with me?!! Â Â AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Â (looks behind him, Â stops running by himself) Â Fine. Â At least stop giving them money until someone involved in that enterprise buys a cookbook and some hand soap.
The manager: surly because i waited next to the wrong door for service.
The waiter: Â kindly in a befuddled way.
The food: Â oh, Â the food. Â The $25 steak i ordered was 1/2 in. Â thick, Â blackened and served with something described as "Cilantro, lime cream." Â I know. Â I read that on the menu and ordered it anyway. Â In my defense, Â the menu didn't mention that the blackening rub would taste like Old Bay crab seasoning nor that the meat would be crappy. Â The steak was served with brussel sprouts who looked slightly ashamed to be there.
My distaste for the experience was enhanced lightly by the food poisoning. Â Well, probably. Â The only other other posible culprit was the kountry cafe and i refuse to hear anything ill of that eggy paradise.
My wife had the Fusion Chicken which she described as "strangly delicious " after she  added cream sauce and my brussel sprouts.  I think she was trying bravely to be upbeat.
Also, Â I didn't think it was possible to make a bitter maitai. Â I can only imagine canned fruit juice was involved.
So if you are here and you are hungry, Â keep walking. Â The pizza next door is amazing.
I'm typically not one for vegetarian dishes, but I am a sucker for artichokes - and the Lighthouse Bistro's artichoke heart piccata is absolutely sublime. I'd never seen this preparation technique applied to vegetables, and the tangy capers and lemon juice paired perfectly with the nutty flavor of the artichokes (the est. 5 tbsps of butter didn't hurt, either...)
Like many other reviewers, my travel companion tried the signature ginger-crusted fish - she enjoyed the dish, but it didn't bear mention on any postcards home.
The live entertainment was a nice touch, the candle-lit ambience was romantic, and  the service was efficient and friendly. I guess the true measure of any restaurant is whether or not I'd return - and in this case, I'll be back.
On the flight from the mainland some locals had suggested I eat here and specifically get the ginger crusted catch of the day. Â So I did. Â In addition I had the coconut shrimp. Â
The starter was 4 medium butterfly coconut encrusted shrimp with two sauces on the plate. Â They sauces seemed to be a sweet hot pepper sauce (think Texas Pete from a bottle) and a tartar sauce with minimal relish. Â Now the fact both these sauces tasted and seemed like something from a bottle is not really an insult. Â This dish was good but nothing special. Â This can be had at almost every chain restaurant across the US. Â
The ginger encrusted ahi (catch of the day today) was served with rice, mixed vegetables and ginger "foam." Â Not sure what the foam was made of but I think they let the ahi flap about in the batter before putting it out of its misery (and into mine). Â Nothing was "bad" here it just wasn't particularly good and certainly not memorable nor worth the almost 50 bucks the meal cost me. Â The rice was fine. Â The mixed vegetables looked like they'd come right out of a bird's eye frozen bag and the only thing distinguishing them from same was perhaps some onion that was a bit stronger and sweeter than some (Maui onions? Â Probably not or they would have touted that!). Â
Anyway I don't think it is the Chef's fault that the ahi had zero ZERO flavor. Â But it was beyond dull and like eating ginger water aspic. Â I think perhaps the catch of the day shouldn't always be fixed with this preparation.....but others might love this and call it "light" "fresh" or some other word translated to mean "without flavor." Â
I didn't give it one star because they were fast, friendly, and again it may have been just this fish (particular one or the species) that was bland this way. Â
In honesty I've not had GREAT food anywhere on Kauai so far......so I advise a grocery store/farmers's market, a condo, and bring your cookbook.
On our last night in Kauai, we didn't want to go too far from Princeville because we had an early morning flight, so we asked the concierge at The Cliffs to recommend someplace closeby. Â She suggested we try Lighthouse Bistro, which was just a few miles away.
We made a reservation, but we certainly didn't need one. Â We assumed that it was uncrowded since it was a Sunday night. The restaurant is located in what used to be an old gas station and garage. Â The walls open up to the outside, so it's a very airy space. Â The hostess who took us to our table was not very friendly and seemed angry when we asked to be moved to a table away from the front door. Â Considering the place was almost empty, we certainly couldn't understand why. That, however, was our only bad experience here.
Our server was a perky blonde who informed us she was born and raised on Kauai. She was very friendly and made some suggestions on the menu. Â I ended up ordering the beet salad and the coconut crusted pork since I had been eating fish for almost the whole week. Â My husband ordered the grilled fish of the day. Â Our meals were surprisingly good, as was the wine we ordered to go with it. Â I would have never thought to put coconut with pork, but it ended up being quite tasty.
We saw some people order the pasta bar buffet, but that certainly wasn't on our radar. Â It looked good and wasn't very expensive, so I might be tempted to try it someday.
During our visit, the hostess meandered through the restaurant about every ten minutes and never once smiled. I felt like telling her if she didn't like her job, she should quit. Â I'd probably go back and eat here again if I get back to Kauai but it certainly wasn't because of her.
Awesome dinner and night out with my girlfriend. Â
We stopped in to the Lighthouse Bistro after it was recommended by a friend who lives nearby in Kilauea. We loved the casual atmosphere with an inviting bar when you walk in and an open air dining room.  I ordered the the Fusion Chicken and it was delicious.  It combined the awesome flavors of  goat cheese, polenta, and chicken in a delicious concoction of yummy.  My girlfriend ordered the Ginger Crusted Ahi and was equally as pleased.  She really enjoyed the coconut rice pilaf and the freshness of the fish.  The owner, Matt, came by our table and recommended the Molnar Family Pinot.  We had never heard of the winery before and we were a little skeptical splurging but decided to try.  It was absolutely delicious. The service was attentive and our server didn't seem to mind that we stayed for a while and enjoyed the wine and evening.
Very pleased and would definitely recommend it to anybody traveling through the area.
Cold (local standards) rainy winter day. Late lunch. Very friendly and helpful waitress.
I had the  daily special - Garganzola burger - tasty - with local sweet potatoe frys - very well prepared.
Wife had grilled fish tacos. Prepared with vegetables generating a rainbow of colors and textures.
One of the ways local working people here on Kauai are able to afford a nice meal out every now and then is to split meals. Most restaurants on Kauai serve large enough portions, and a $24 meal becomes $12 each. However, the Lighthouse Bistro charges a $5 "shared plate fee." This knocks them out of our list of regular jaunts.
Money aside, the food is excellent. The all-you-can-eat pasta bar is for keiki (kids) more than adults, because it's not great. They have nice live entertainment several nights per week.
Let's get to the point, shall we? Â
Bread: Â Soft, warm bread served with olives soaked in olive oil. Â Interesting as it tasted a bit like pound cake. Â Not bad though.
Me: Â Blackened Ribeye was served with aioli, herb red bliss mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables du jour. Â Perfectly cooked medium as ordered and was juicy. Â Potatoes were creamy with a distinct herb butter flavor that really stood out. Â Veggies were alright. Â Thumbs up. Â
Wife: Â Grilled Kong Lung Short Ribs marinated in soy sauce served local style with white rice, Bistro Asian slaw and Chef Joe's special local dipping sauce. Â She really enjoyed this although the ribs were a bit fatty, the flavor was definitely there when supplemented with their special "teriyaki" like sauce. Â
Final word: Â reasonably priced and high in flavor quality. Â Service was not as great and was a bit slow. Â Server did not follow up to ask how dinner was and seemed to be busy helping everyone else around us.
If you are in Kappa this place is right off the freeway. Â
We started off with yummy bread with dipping oils. Â For an appetizer we had the:
Coconut Shrimp that had coconut and panko with a little dipping chili sauce and aioli and these were huge and nice and crispy in taste.
Dinner:
I had the Coconut Pork and it was really good. Â It was breaded in Coconut and panko with a creamy sauce to dip in. Â It came with mash potatoes that were very good and cut up mixed veggies. Â Everything tasted ok but I was not wowed. Â
Prices were average overall.  Décor was pretty nice and you could sit outside to feel a breeze or inside as well.  Service was very quick by our waitress and we had a guest at our table:  a Gray cat that hung out waiting for food. I gave the cat some food but it didn't like pork ;)  But the cat didn't leave instead jumped in my lap to get petted.  Such a cutie!!! My husband told him he could not go home with us.  Overall just average for food.
I don't think I've ever been to a restaurant where it was as obvious that they just didn't care. We went for lunch; perhaps dinner has a completely different attitude - the menu is much more ambitious than lunch's burgers and sandwiches - but our experience was terrible.
The fish tacos here were a culinary low point: chopped mahi mahi mixed with something like McCormick taco seasoning. Other dishes were were at best indifferent. Even the iced tea and lemonade were so watery as to be almost undrinkable.
The Lighthouse Bistro is definitely in my top three or four restaurant choices in Kauai. Â
The food has been great everytime I've been there - my wife and I go there for romantic dinners away from the tourists.
It's an open air place with nice artwork and wood frame chairs and tables. Â The service is friendly and the chef might come out to your table to chat. Â When it rains, which is daily in Kilauea the rain patters on the roof and the air smells sweet. Â
If you are just there for one meal definitely try the Ginger Crusted catch of the day or the Coconut Shrimp.
If your up on the North Shore and want some decent food, then go to the Lighthouse Bistro. Â Its Pacific cuisine with a european fusion. Â Mostly tourist in this place, so don't expect locals. Â I went on a Wednesday around the time the restaurant opened its doors for customers so no one else was in the place, which could taint this review in the service category, but no matter. Â Music was being played by a local musician on the guitar, which added to the decor. Â Onto the food! Â Â Â
Appetizers:
Coconut Shrimp-Shrimp encrusted in panko and coconut, served with a sweet chili sauce, and aioli. $13.95
(Good taste, crispy exterior, sauces went well with this dish.
Fish Rockets- Fresh Fish wrapped with furikake and lumpia served with a wasabi aioli. Â $12.95
(Very nice, quite enjoyable, the wasabi flavor was very mild.)
Dinner:
Lighthouse Napoleon- A towering stack of polenta, grilled vegetables and greens finished with balsamic reduction and herb oil. Â $18.95
( Yeah I should have ordered fish, but I got all fished out by this day. Â The polenta was not towering like they said. Â The grilled vegetables were piled in the middle with polenta triangles surrounding it. Â The veggies weren't all cooked through. )
Had a taste of the
Bistro Chicken- Chicken breasts encrusted with mac-nuts and panko plated in a creamy mac-nut pesto, served with herb red bliss mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. Â $19.95
( This was very tasty, the mac nuts could have been broken into smaller pieces, but the mashed potatoes were good and overall something to be expected at this price)

Would I go back? Â Not my first option, I'd probably try another place.
Excellent food and excellent service.
My previous experience with food in Hawai'i has been pretty disappointing. I'm glad that the Lighthouse Bistro changed my perception.
I'd recommend their ginger crusted fish. You'll never know what the fish is until you get there, because it's freshly caught that morning. I have never tasted anything as good as that.
