Great place to have A drink and a really nice. However food is horrible. Â We asked the waitress which appetizers were not frozen and there were only two out of probably 20. I had a burger which sounded great when they brought it it was one frozen patty. Â Go there for the view and the drinking but don't go for the food.
Review Source:Went there on friday may 31, at 830 pm for dinner the beer was warm, the service lousy. Warm beer was $5.99 a draft with no entertainment. Ordered a sampler platter appetizer looking forward to the giant mushroom, came to the table 35 minutes later with no mushrooms, asked waitress she said oh we have been out for 2 weeks. So why did you not say anything..... Asked for a frosted mug for my warm beer, they said we don't have any but could put a couple in freezer for you, I said GREAT! 20 min later asked for 1 of them, she comes back and says bartender forgot. They were very slow that evening no excuses. I had to put my beer in a glass of ice! Then they charged us more for the drinks then the waitress said they were, never going back.
Review Source:The serving staff is hit and miss, the bartenders are hit and miss, and the menu is so-so. I've noticed on some visits my food is hot and delicious, the serving staff is on top of things and the bartender provides delicious drinks with an impressive expedience. Tonight, however, I ordered the bison burger and received a tasteless slab of greasy, undercooked cardboard. The baked potato was desperately underdone and not at all enjoyable. My drink was acceptable...but the bar experienced a shift change and the replacement bartender never once asked if I would like a refill. My server, Nikki, was at least pleasant and did her very best to salvage dinner for me. Honestly, if Houghton Lake had legit options, I don't think people would come here to eat. The inconsistencies make it a waste of time and money.
Review Source:If you are up at the lake, this is the place for some great food. I went there on Friday night for dinner and ordered a burger and it was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The coleslaw is unique, not bad - just different than traditional coleslaw in my opinion. The salads have what I believe to be Snyders honey mustard pretzels being used as croutons, which rocked my tastebuds. The food was so good that we went back the next day for lunch. My friend had the (fall-off-the-bone) ribs the day before and they were so good that she ordered them again! I ordered the wet burrito, which was pretty spicy even for me, but it was still good. The guacamole tasted great as well. Next time I'm at the lake I will be back.
Review Source:Why cant the management figure out the simple things. Â Kid waiter doesn't know whats on tap. Â Music much too loud for an empty Saturday afternoon (cut the bass!!) So-so burger with a taste of an unclean (charcoal-ish) grill. Â Sticky tables and chairs. Â Ugh
Its not really that hard to get these things right
I have to agree with Jon G & Mike M., i.e. The Limberlost made me wish I was always on vacation and I don't know what the negative reviews are all about.
I stopped in mid-day, mid-week, mid- August and I couldn't have been more pleased! Â The wait staff was fast and friendly. The bar was well stocked for all tastes and the bartender offered samples of any drink we had questions about. Â The view is fantastic and there is plenty of outdoor seating for the warmer months.
We ordered, and expected, your standard bare fare; wings, onion rings, fried mushrooms and cheesesticks. Â We were blown away at what we received. All of the fried foods were scratch made and fried perfectly - not at all greasy. The onion rings were larger than doughnuts, the fried mushrooms were nearly fist sized. Â I would have sworn that due to the enormous size the mushrooms and onions within would be undercooked but it was the contrary. Â On top of that, the batter was delicious! All other rings and shrooms will pale in comparison from this point forward.
If you want what I'm now categorizing as "elite" bar food and are anywhere near Houghton Lake, make the trip to The Limberlost and you will not be disappointed.
The Limberlost makes me want to quit my job so I can move to Houghton Lake and hang out at the Limberlost all day.
I went there once and by coincidence it was during the summer luau. Pints of beer were flowing, there was live music and even a pig roast. The place was decked out in tropical decor and my waitress was in a bikini. Sorry, I should specify my very attractive waitress was in a bikini - and I guess you could say the service was very "good "real" and "firm."
But seriously, the Limberlost was awesome. And they had microbrews. I want to go back. For real. (See what I did there?)
Nice view, o.k. food, slow a dirt service. Â They serve sandwitches and various other bar food. Â The wife and I split a reuben and fries and it was good but kind of small and very pricey for what you get (Like $9.00 to split a small sandwitch & a handfull of fries). Â Our waitress was nice and she kept up on the drinks, but it took around 45 minuntes to get our food. Â She said it was because they were busy, but only a quarter of the tables were full and I have had slow service all of the handfull of times we have eaten here. Â If you can stand to wait the food is decent and they have a full service bar to pass the time. Â Also, there are not a whole lot of places to get a beer and sandwich in the area so this may fit the bill for you. Â The atmosphere is a bit campy but it has a good view of the lake. Â There are pool tables and arcade games to help occupy the kiddies while you wait.
Review Source:this place is a joke... not even fun to get drunk there! Â I think it's just a place for Detroiters and Ypsituckians to get all messed up and talk about how wasted they got the night before at breakfast. Â "omg.. I got so wasted last night.. Â I puked in the urinal again!"
don't waste your time.
