I used to live in Korea and went to Noraebang (Karaoke) all the time. Â I was looking forward to checking out this place so me and a friend booked a room for 2 hours. Â The Karaoke rooms are clean, fairly big and decently furnished, however their Karaoke machine only had a few hundred English language songs, I'm used to having many thousands to choose from so this was a little disappointing, but I did find some I knew. Â The other thing that was disappointing was that their Karaoke rooms don't have all the lights and cymbals and stuff you find in a lot of other places, you get 2 microphones and that's it. Â Oh and they did bring us a fruit tray on the house.
Now comes to my real knock on this place which is price. Â We had the room for 2 hours, plus 2 cans of beer and 1 coke. Â Total price: $106. Â My jaw hit the floor, I thought there must have been some mistake. Â Whenever I've done karaoke in Asia, even in large metropolitan cities like Seoul, the price ranged from about $10-20 an hour and the rooms were nicer. Â My feeling is that this place is simply there to cater to rich Asians who have plenty of money and not many other options for Asian style Karaoke. Â I'm not trying to be racist but this places prices are so high they defy all reason. Â If you go with a large group of people it may be worth it for you but I will never go back.
EDIT: Â I just wanted to update my review. Â I was so surprised by the prices at this place that I contacted some Korean friends in Los Angeles to ask them what it costs to do Karaoke there. Â After talking to several people I found it ranges from about $10-25 per hour. Â This is very similar to the prices I saw in Asia and basically confirms my suspicions that this place is exorbitantly expensive. Â The only reason they can get away with it is because this is a small town and there's little competition. Â There is nothing about the service or the Karaoke rooms they have that justifies their prices.
