I ordered a burger and it came with my choice of french fries, potato salad, cole slaw, or green salad. I chose the potato salad and asked for no mayo, no onions. It came as ordered, delivered to my car with water for my dog and a root beer. Cheerful respectful service. I give it an A. The burger was excellent and the pickles were crisp.

Typical rural greasy spoon-- filled with old people, questionable decor and decided lack of cleanliness. They have charm and their place in restaurant hierarchy.

Order the hot cakes, not the waffle. "Syrup" is of the Aunt Jemima variety. Waffle tastes like Jiffy mix. Am I reviving your 60s nostalgia yet?

Eggs were good, service was okay. I'd come back again while in the area.

Service was rough, ignored even at the bar.  Biscuits n gravy were not good.  The Farm Boy's about 7 miles north, but more than worth the detour for decent breakfast.

If your thirsty and you like a hard drink at a great price this is the place to be.  Plus the clientele are always entertaining.

If you like beefy, juicy quarter pound burgers or homemade biscuits with real homemade country sausage gravy then this is the place for you. I ate breakfast and lunch here and my experience was wonderful. Diners like this one are so hard to find and that's why I  hope when you read this review you stop in and give this place a try. Nevermind the decor..who cares..its all about the food. Isn't that why you stopped anyway?

If you are going to Great Wolf-- please just take your kids here instead of breakfast at the waterpark-- oh, wow- their pancakes were a hit-- and my dad is a critic and said they stopped there on the way out and probably had the best burger he has had in a LONG time- very nice option- prob wont go to the restaurant at GW ever again- maybe grab the kids a corn dog at the deli if it is just not an option to stop and go somewhere else-- but, yeah-- looking forward to having my meals here on our next trip to GW

I leaned between 3 and 4 stars and decided to be generous because of the prices and the fact that this place lives up to its billing as a truck-stop diner.

Don't go in expecting super cheerful service (would you be cheerful if you worked here all your life serving truckers and tourists) or fantastic food. Do expect super cheap-eats that remind you of what diners used to look like.

My wife, son and I all had breakfast for a total, including drinks and tip, of under $30. All of the food was cooked fine and what I expected (scrambled eggs scrambled; biscuit/gravy chunky; etc).

If you're trying to have a meal cheaper than what you can get at the Great Wolf Lodge, you could do worse than here.

don't do it. seriously it was pretty dirty.  would have rather eaten at McDonalds down the road & that's not saying much.  We came in with our 8yr old, the waitress didn't even offer us a kids menu, didn't find out they had one until a waiter served the table next to us.  I had the oatmeal, my husband had the quick breakfast scrambled eggs & biscuit & gravy. The biscuit tasted like it had been poorly made, then frozen for some time & then heated up in a microwave before getting served to us.  should have walked out right after we walked in.

This place stinks. We were hoping for some country style comfort food and there was nothing comforting about this meal.

We went to the restaurant and everything was practically inedible. We barely touched the mixed appetizer platter and the rest of the dinner was just as bad.  (We were starving too, so you would think the appetizers would have disappeared in minutes, but instead we just couldn't palate the dried out fried crap they called appetizers.)

The clincher was that my daughter ordered a New York steak (and we got charged about $18 for it) but it tasted like a really hard/raw/tough/flavorless piece of chuck roast. I don't know what cut it was, but it clearly WAS NOT A NEW YORK.  I felt so ripped off...if you know your steaks, you will know it is NOT a New york. (They usually sell this at the grocery store in a pack with 5 steaks for $5.)  We sent the steak back 2 times because it literally came to our table raw and bloody.  (I was just worried my daughter would get sick off of it.)  We sent it back to be cooked a second time, and after less than a minute the waitress brought back the same raw steak.  (Clearly it did not go back on the grill.) We asked her to send it back again so my 9 year old would not get sick.  Then 3 minutes later she came back with a very rare steak, but at least it was not completely raw. (We had asked for Medium.)

I got a turkey sandwich and mashed potatoes (how hard is that to mess up?). Well, it was awful. The gravy had no flavor and tasted like grease and the turkey and bread were dried out.

My husband got the chicken friend steak, which should be their basic easy to make meal. The edges of the steak were really hard and the middle was bone dry and hard to swallow (covered with the same flavorless gravy). How do you get a bone dry chicken fried steak when the whole thing is fried in oil?  It was almost like they work at making bad food.

Don't waste your money. McDonalds is a better choice.

Had a late dinner here after a day at the Great Wolf lodge waterpark.  It's an old-style diner as others have said.  Service was slow.  However, the food was great.  It's old-fashioned comfort food.  I had an open-faced turkey sandwich and the turkey was REAL....not some pressed, processed junk.  Homemade gravy.  REAL potatoes, NOT instant.  Food was hot.  Everyone at our table enjoyed the meal.  Decent salad bar. Would definitely go again.

One of the beat breakfast places you'll ever see!!   Inside is standard greasy spoon atmosphere.   5 star breakfast!!

Stopped along I5 on a Friday evening.  Our waitress was very friendly and helpful even though they had a huge party of 20.

I had a baked potato - it was good. My side of cottage cheese was also good. If you order these two things, it'll be good.

If  you order anything else, it'll be kinda gross, though. My boyfriend's burger made fast food look like a much better option.

I did really like our waitress, but I do have to give this two stars because we'll never go back-- I don't typically crave baked potatoes on the way to Portland.

This is a full on TRUCK STOP diner.  If you are expecting great attitudes & prompt service, (as previously mentioned) you might want to pass.

But if you are looking for awesome chicken fried steak, they have it. They make a lot of their food from scratch, and its not great.... but its good.

They have a really freaky bar, that is super dark and has karaoke on the weekends.  Their bathroom has a condom dispenser, and 3 kinds of low budget perfume for a quarter.  There are definitely alcoholics drinking here at anytime of the day.... its a TRUCK STOP.

But hey, its Americana folks. I love these kinds of places, as a backdoor to the backwoods.  And if you are so uppity and full of culture that you cant get down with the good ol boys, you can cruise your self to the homogenized golden arches just up the road.

I love The Little Red Barn in the same way that I love a corn dog at the carnival.  You always feel a little guilty for staring at the carnies, and you know you are eating sugar and grease. But its fun to hit the sideshow. I totally recommend!

    It is what it is!

My girlfriend and I joined her family for a little Friday post high school football celebration at the Little Red Barn.  One word: Yikes!

My girlfriend knew the drill- she played it safe and ordered the salad.  I should have taken the hint.  I ordered the burger and although it was large it was less than average. At least there was bacon on it!  You can't screw up bacon.

Her brother ordered chicken fingers and the center was cold/pink. So, they returned them and we never saw those fingers again. And, we had to ask for them to be removed from the bill.

As we walked out the front door we saw about a dozen drunk people smoking and smuggling beer bottles out of the bar entrance. My girlfriend's daughter grabbed my arm and buried her face in my coat, saying "the men out front scare me!"  I told her that they are harmless and just ignore them.  Boy, was I wrong!

Just then, one degenerate starts to urinate on the side of the Little Red Barn. Disaster!  He can barely stand. Fortunately he had a beer bottle in his hand to help him balance.

I know this is a local hangout. And, I am now fairly local. I just don't think I will be hanging out.

There was 3 of us on a business trip out to Aberdeen (I mean scabberdeen)  We stopped here on the way back to I-5 going North.  I would say the service was about a lack luster as you get.  Typical slow to do anything waitress and cooks behind the counters.  They acted like we were interupting their nap??  We got seated, ordered the burgers and fries, etc 1 of our guys ordered breakfast.  The food was delivered fairly fast, and actually was pretty damn good to taste.  BUT when it came time for a drink refill or to get the damn check, guess what?  Nobody to help or server.  I mean seriously, I think this place is some type of tax write-off for the owner, or??  They really don't give a sh*t if people come in or not.  Very strange.  Though the food was very decent.  So, if you try this place, expect service to be hit or miss, good food, but epic failures at treating you like a human.  Oh, and we also noticed there must be some type of local favorite thing going on, as a couple other guys came in and they were served dead on the spot, general yick yack with waitress and more, and we were like not even there.

Good luck little red barnicle staying open.

The food was ok, the bathrooms had that old truck stop smell and the waitress was not friendly. Doubt I'd ever stop here again.

Yes, I was part of a group of ten people. Yes, we were on our last day of camping and probably didn't smell that great. Yes, we didn't make a reservation.
However, when we walked in and were told to seat ourselves, I somehow expected some sort of service- having worked in the food industry for so long myself.
Our waitress took her sweet time getting to us, even though there were only three other full tables in the restaurant. After she took our drink orders and turned over our coffee cups, she somehow got distracted and didn't fill them, though the coffee machine was directly behind our table. After she didn't come back for five minutes, I actually got up and served our entire table coffee. And had to continue serving coffee to my table, since she never filled a single cup.
When one of our party members expressed concern about a severe allergy, the waitress was rude and took probably ten minutes to bring the questionable corn chip bag label.
After she took our food orders, she left our table alone for huge stretches of time.
Oh, we got our food- and the portions were huge, and it was clearly freshly made from scratch. It tasted pretty awesome. But as we were all awkwardly trying to figure out whether they had boxes and if we would get a check or if they kept the checks at the register for  another long period of time when we were clearly not eating, I had the first urge I've ever had to just walk out of a restaurant.
That urge only got stronger as we (finally) received our split checks and stood in an orderly line at the cash register. One by one people paid and left, until I (the last person in line) was standing at the counter with my check and my debit card in hand, and the person who was running the cashier looked over my shoulder at something and left me standing there without a single word. I literally waited 13 more minutes, staring at the clock, waiting for someone to ring me out. Even one of the back of house cooks came out, I'd been waiting so long, and he finally tracked down someone who could operate the machine.

I didn't tip. As a waitress, the service I received was abominable by industry standards. I've been better taken care of at a mcdonalds.
I will never return to this restaurant
