the bartenders disappeared for twenty minutes then the manager robin told me they work on "bar time" not "cell phone time" (the time that everyone else in the world runs on), was a decent enough place to go to before I joined the service industry but if you're looking for a post shift drink do not go here!
Review Source:hosting 8 people last week, out of sev beers (huh?) and service was absolutely oblivious. Â Wings were great, others appetizers quite good. Â Tab would have been double had they given a hoot about service...several gave up and just went to the bar. Â Perhaps an off night but does not inspire me to return.
Review Source:Solid sports bar. I don't write a reviews often (this is actually number 2). I have a wandering soul and this place has kept me wanting to come back over 7 months. For me that is an impressive feat.
The service is incredible. As long as you treat them nicely. I've seen them toss out drunks and hide from jerks as any reasonable human would. For me I have a few waitresses that I can honestly say I want a blank type of beer, surprise me and not have a problem.
The food is solid bar food their steak night is an amazing deal for 15 bucks you can feed two people.
If you want little black dresses, heels and nearly unpronounceable drinks stay away. If you want an awesome beer or stiff basic drink this is your place.
Not a bad sports bar, though sports bars aren't my first choice. If I was really into sports bars, I'd think the TVs were too small to really follow.
Otherwise, our service was very good. I liked the wide variety of beers, and enjoyed a couple new ones. The outside area looked like a nice place to hang out at night (we were here on a Sunday afternoon), despite location in a strip mall (it's at the end, and the outdoor area looks away from the mall mostly).
All-in-all, not bad considering the local choices. I'd go back.
I have been a few times and have written one review. I'm currently sitting here giving this location another try. Â
Positive : the bar atmosphere is good, people enjoying karaoke.
Negative : bartender was responsive at first. She is now consumed with plate of food next to the register. Eating and serving. Taking shots with friends behind the bar. My point again, what happened to the customers? Â I would love to give this a great review, but I haven't experienced it yet.
Just some basic 101 hospitality and common sense would make it a great place.
Side note: love Woodrow on 6th.
Starting with the negatives here: Â The TV's are too small and grainy to really keep up with the 2 NFL games we go there to watch, and the wine selection was extremely limited. Â I get it, it's a beer joint. Â However, the fried goat cheese is ah-mazing!! Â You can order it as an appetizer with crackers, or on top of a salad. Â Keeps us coming back for more.
Review Source:We have only tried the Bee Cave location... and we only go on Wednesday night and normally with a group of friends... That's Steak Night!!! The Steak Trailer pulls up around 6 or so and sets up. They take your order (cash only, separate from the cashier inside) for a great tasting and well-prepared rib eye with a huge baked potato and a salad (if you want). Inside, the place is ok... It's a good size bar and the food is mainly bar food. Our favorite is fried pickles... they're real good and go nicely with one of many choices of beer they offer. There are some other good bar food choices, i.e., chicken wings, etc... Not the healthiest meal but what the heck, life is too short... The service is ok but their servers are spread a little thin and if the place gets crowded the service starts to lag a little. But not too bad. It could get a little loud during sports events... but it's not a big deal. Overall, a decent casual setting if you're in the mood for a cheap but good steak (only Wednesdays), with bar food and beer...
Review Source:I think the service gets worse and worse every time I come here. Â The problem is I usually have my dog with me when I'm in the area, so I don't have any other options if I need a late night snack. So unless you have a dog with you, you don't have any reason to step foot on the property. This bar blows!
Review Source:This location is designed just about the same as the SouthPark Meadows location as far as interior goes, which is to say there's a moosehead and a wall of beer bottles. It has a few video games (hunting and golf I believe) and pool tables. I was there last night and last Saturday night and there was Karaoke going on outside, which is a nice diversion.
The bartenders both times that I went were attentive and helpful, offering lots of smiles and a warm attitude. Beer on tap is always cold and tasty, and prices are about what you'd expect to find in most places in this town, around $4-5 for non-Lone Star beers.
Seating outside was a problem at some points, but most of the time there was plenty of space indoors to park it while you sip a cold one.
I'd recommend. Good place to meet friends and relax.
Great unpretentious place to get together for an adult night out with friends. If you are looking for a cocktail lounge or a place that is going to be full of wantabee hipsters go back into Austin on 4th/6th street. Â Kids are not allowed after 8pm. Â
Woodrows has a large outdoor area which is just perfect to sit around with a drink and relax. Â The interior is as expected with bar type decor. Tons of tables, booths, tv's, etc. I personally think the wait staff if just fine. They are very relaxed and nice. They know when to come and asist you and when to leave you alone. If they are busy just walk up to the bar and get your own drink. What's the big deal? I have never had a waitress make me feel unwelcome or be rude to me (since I am only drinking sodas). Â I read where the female bartender may have an attitude. This may be true as I have seen her and she doesn't seem to smile much. I have not interacted with her personally. I have always dealt with a male bartender or my waitress.
The three stars is because in all honesty the food is not that great. It is just bar food. We usualy go on Wednesday, steak night. This is a great meat and potato meal for 15.00. Â Get the salad too and two people can share.
The bar is hidden toward the back of the strip mall behind waterloo and mandola's which is a shame because I bet alot of people don't see it.
I visit Little Woodrow's once or twice a week with my coworkers (we work at a nearby restaurant in the Galleria). Â Usually, when I'm going out for a drink, I prefer a cool cocktail lounge to a beer and pool joint, but Woodrow's is fine for a couple of beers. Â The bartenders are very knowledgeable about the beer list, and there's always plenty of seating. Â Sometimes it gets a little too rowdy in there for me, especially if I've just gotten off a 12-hour shift and just want to chill with my friends and my beer, but there really aren't many other options for 20- and 30-somethings to drink in Lakeway. Â They have karaoke on Saturday nights, which is amusing for the first couple of songs but after a while it gets annoying. Â I wouldn't bring a date or my parents here, but if you're looking for a casual place to bring a group of friends to drink, or you're by yourself and want to park yourself at a bar stool with a beer and a cute bartender, Woodrow's might be the place for you.
Review Source:Started on our own personal Yelp Drinks pubcrawl on an April Saturday (2:30pm). Â Wanted a Wet Woody but they were just prepping it so I had the Blackberry Mojito instead, and so glad because it was delicious!! Â We sat at the bar and recieved prompt and super friendly service, Â As we were getting ready to leave the bartender gave me a sample of the Wet Woody, good too but loved the BB Mojito. Â I have been here one other time and wonder why it took me so long to come back??? Â I did not think they had food or food was super limited. Â I do not think I have pulled a food menu from their website. Can't wait to return for one of those dreamy BB Mojitos :). So I came back to meet a friend before going out to dinner elsewhere. Â I was excited because it was ladies night (Weds) and they had Mimosa's for $3, I LOVE mimosas. Â Got there a little after 5pm and sat at the bar. Â This time I waited and waited, the bartender (not the same one as the first review) could only take one order at a time!! And took her sweet old time working around the bar...it took her 7 minutes to get to me. Â I ordered a Mimosa and was told they did not have any (on the night they were on special). I did not trust her to make me a BB Mojito so I ordered the frozen Margarita.
Review Source:Came here last night for Yelp's 1/2 price drink week and we were literally the first people to order the blackberry mojito for $3.63. When it arrived, it was STRONG and delicious! My friends, fiance and I also indulged in the Mexican martinis for $4, which come in a shaker. These weren't as strong but they were ok. Boy, did I have heartburn the next day.
I like that this location has games, 2 pool tables, and I believe somewhere in here they have shuffleboard, although we were too busy talking to check it out. We did play a game of pool though, fun!
I like this location because it's clean and fun. My only HUGE qualm with this place is that THEY SHOULD NOT ALLOW KIDS: PERIOD. I've been told by several people that they are sometimes lenient on the no kids rule, if they are outside or not sitting at the bar. I think this is absolute crap, it is a total nuisance to have kids at a bar, and no normal or even half witted parent would bring their kids to a bar anyway. Especially with 10 TVs blasting at full decibals I'm sure their hearing would be damaged. Either way, that's not a huge issue but I sincerely suggest to management that they fix this and NOT allow any children at the bar.
Aside from that, I think the service here is okay. Our waitress vanished a few times before returning with drinks but it was sort of busy because it was the night of the final basketball games (I'm not a sports fan I don't really care) but it was crowded for a Monday night. I do like their selection of beers, and the fact they offer the local beers and Mexican beers for$3 on Mon nights.
Wednesday is a popular night because it's "ladies night" with discounted drinks, and steak truck night, where you can get a 16oz ribeye for $15. It's supposedly really good!
Overall, if you like beer and like the "sports bar" thing, this place is probably for you. If you're more of a happy hour person, this place is more of a beer oriented place but you can get drinks here too. It's fun because of the games/pool table, and they run specials most every night.
Confession: I not much of a bar gal. In fact if I'm at a bar it was probably someone else idea!
Verdict: I actually liked this place. I didn't have food because it's just my personal rule. Â The atmosphere was really inviting and cozy. I love the open layout of the dining/seating areas. It really made me feel like I was able to breathe and relax. It's a great place to gather with friends. The bartenders were friendly and attentive. Good mix of brews on tap. I'll definitely be back.
From the outside, it's an unassuming strip mall (albeit a nice strip mall), but inside, this place looks great! Â I love the pool tables, the bar, the auto garage type doors that open to a fantastic patio.
It was a Saturday afternoon so my sister and I got a couple of delicious Micheladas at the bar. Â My boyf got a beer - his only complaint was that the beer is serve a tad bit too cold.
I don't live in the area but I think it's a great addition to the Bee Caves community.
Great place with awesome "finger foods" and "beer foods". I'm actually going there tonight for game 5 of the Rangers series. It is the best Lil Woodrow's in town, weather you like to sit inside or outside, there's always a spot! The Little Woodrow's on 6th Street is too close to the road, so you have to eat and drink whilst breathing in nothing but car exhaust, but THIS Lil Woodrow's rocks!!! HUGE beer selection, great TVs, great food. ONLY criticism is that sometimes the service is a little slow, mostly because the waitresses put aside their customers to talk with their "favorites", but if they do that to you, just get up and grab a beer from the bar and tip your forgetful waitress 6%!!!
Review Source:Beer, open architecture/high cielings, great service, football on the big screen, 100ish beers (tap and bottle), overstuffed couches to hang on, and a pool table. All you need to add it some friends. Â
Had a blast with friends, can't wait to do this again at this outstandingly executed location!
This is my favorite Little Woodrow's - love the large dog friendly patio that is partially covered over looking a wooded area and hiking trail and pond with ducks who wonder around.
Stopped by again today with Peter P. and ended up hanging out on the patio for 4 hours with our Pups and had a great time. Super friendly service - they even brought our dogs out some raw burger patties!
1 star - Before we even ordered the waitress brought out pails filled with ice water for the pups.
2 stars - decent wine list for a brew house and huge 100 + beer choices.
3 stars - 3.25 Mimosa, Frozen Margaritas and Miceladas until 7PM Sat & Sunday.
4 stars - with otherwise greasy pub food they make a surprisingly fresh and tasty Greek Salad and they don't skimp on the Feta and other toppings.
5 stars - Their Fried Pickles are some of the best I have had the pleasure of eating and their Bloody Mary also ranks among the best!
Since, I always have my pups with me I have never had the pleasure of enjoying the inside. But, I would love enjoy the dark wood and deep comfy leather couches interior with multiple flat screens, pool table and arcade games some time other than walking through to the bathroom. By the way the Girl's Room has "squatters" on the door and Guy's "standers" = cute!
Love this place!! Lots of space to lounge around in a casual atmosphere. Great place to unwind. I love hanging out by the fire pit in the cold weather.
Went last weekend and was dismayed to discover they've changed their menu: My cheap and yummy fish tacos are no longer. Also, their queso used to be fantastic, with tons of fresh toppings on the cheese, but this time it was just okay.
However, still love this place. Ordered fish and chips and they were pretty good. The highlight, though, was the michelada. I'm pretty hard to please when it comes to micheladas. When they waitress said they don't use a mix, it was music to my ears! She said they hate making them because they require so much effort... Ha. Well, it shows. They are delicious! Can't believe I didn't try it before. Yum.
I heart Lil' Woody's.
We were  driving home after church one Sunday afternoon, yes... we are part of the church rush to most food establishments on a Sunday afternoon! I could of sworn It was Waterloo's that was open at the Galaria, but I was wrong, it was Little Woodrow's . Before that day, I 'd seen LW"s on 5th, but it really never appealed to me.  Lucky for LW's I was starved!  Well, I started with a Miller lite (94 cal) it was Iced cold! I had to have another.  Hunger gone but I ordered wings anyway, because I knew their wings weren't going to be any good, but they were premium!  LW's has the BEST side house salad I have ever eaten, and their fish tacos keep me coming back at least 3 times a week! I love the staff and the atmosphere, and the 21 and up makes a huge difference.  Little Woodrows is casual and relaxing, and there isn't any cold beer on tap anywhere else in Bee Cave! Trust me!
Review Source:I'm a fan of any place that combines fire and booze, especially now that we're enjoying chilly evenings here in Austin. The fire pit on the ginormous patio is about the size of a 12-person hot tub and the perfect place to warm up as you're getting smashed. I spent most of my time outside, but on my way to the ladies room (was there a sign that read "squatters" on the girls restroom door or is that my imagination?), I noticed lots of sitting space and a huge bar with lots of TVs. If I lived in the area, I would be watching every Longhorn game here. Little Woodrow's is in a maze of a shopping center where I'm sure I would have gotten lost, if it weren't for the directional signs at every turn guiding my way. I can't wait to go back!
Review Source:Oh thank heavens another place in Beecaves! We went with some friends Saturday night and were quite impressed with the place. It is very large and nicely appointed with comfy booths, tables and dark woods. They have  ample patio space which we enjoyed while listening to Snoop Dog howling it up at the Backyard.
This place is a beer lovers paradise and the husband was in his element and beaming from ear to ear as they serve his fave pub grub, which is sliders, and the selection of beers was overwhelmingly exciting for him. I'm not a beer fan but love, love, love their frozen mimosas. My friend enjoyed her spicy fried pickles and I noticed they also serve wings and chicken fingers for those needing to soak up the booze. After the concert ended many a happy drunk concert goer emerged from the woods beyond and the place filled up pretty quickly. Such a pity that the Backyard is moving as this cuold have been a great opportunity for Little Woodrow's.
A man whom we assume to be the GM or owner gave us the whole run down and apparently Wednesday nights a guy pulls up in a trailer and grills up 16 oz. ribeyes and serves baked potatoes with all the trimmings for $15 per person.
It is nice that we have another option out here other than the cougar and retiree infested Mulligan's in Lakeway. Smoking is not allowed inside which is a plus as well. I have a feeling the husband will soon be on a first name basis with the staff!
I am SO excited to have a brew pub open on the west side....and this Little Woodrows rocks! Â It sports a spacious bar with tons of tables inside, flat screened TVs, a fabulous patio with a large fire pit that is surrounded by woods, several beers on tap and over 100 beers by the bottle....it is all good! Â Their food, eh, average bar fare (skip the fries altogether). Â Be sure not to judge this place by its strip mall location or boring exterior, because you will be pleasantly surprised once you walk through the door.
Review Source:Beautiful Bountiful Beer in Bee Caves!
Well my wife and I showed up to Little Woodrow's on 6th for our regular Saturday night, scrabble night at the pub.(WhooHoo! Saturday Night!) Â I looked around and noticed that I didn't know anyone. Â I didn't know the bartenders or the waitresses or anyone. This may not be a big deal to some people, but I spend quite a bit of time in that bar, in fact I can name everyone who works there in alphabetical order right now. Ready! - Ok I won't do it. But I could!
I fear change and now everything had changed all at once. Where did everyone go? Who are all these new peoples and where is the panic button so I can press it?
Thankfully a familiar face, my friend "A" popped around to calm me down. They were just training people for the new Bee Caves location.
They were planning a soft opening the next day, 7/27/08. Later we got a very nice invite to come check out the new diggs.
My wife was in a Dim Sum coma Sunday afternoon,(Bye Tien Hong!) so I jumped in her Honda Fit and headed out to the Hill Country to see the latest incarnation of Little Woodrow's. Â
Let me say that I don't work for Little Woodrow's, I'm just a loyal customer. (Although I did apply for a doorman position there once, you know for beer money.)
I guess it has been awhile since I was out Bee Caves Rd. I used to do alot of work out here, but I barely recognize the area any longer, there has been so much growth. I'm spoiled living in Central Austin, I consider Bee Caves BFE, but it was really only 20 miles door to door. That is just around the corner in Houston.
There is this huge shopping complex that pretty much starts where Bee Caves used to dead-end into Highway 71. Tucked in the back facing the woods is a beautiful new Little Woodrow's. Â
There was even someone there that already knew my name, my friend "E" from the Parmer Location was there training the newbies. Â The building itself is in a strip mall, but once I took a seat at the end of the huge U shaped bar it felt just like home. Speaking of seats, the bar stools and chairs are some of the most comfortable I've ever sat in. I contemplated stealing one of them and taking it back to the 6th street location, but decided that would just lead to fights over the "comfy" stool.
Â
The general manager "W" saw me and gave a tour of the outside. It was still not completely finished, but you could get the general idea. Â The bar itself opens with huge garage doors to the outside patio. Â This is biergarten goodness out here. Once the sun went down most everybody navigated outside, very relaxing. It may be more developed, but it is still the Hill Country.
They have these neat 8 sided tables where everyone can sit facing everybody. Plus there is the now signature Woodrow's firepit. I'm sure that will be crowded in the winter. Â (PLEASE CAN FOOTBALL AND WINTER START ALREADY!) I foresee a washers pit outside as well.
This location has its own built in kitchen, serving up some pub grub to help soak up the beer. Â Which is good because there is beer a plenty. Â I counted 32 taps on the wall at least one of which was a cider. Looks like there will be similar specials to the other locations.Tuesdays
is Big Ass Beer night - 23oz drafts starting at just $2.00. Â
The room itself big and inviting with flat screen's galore, I enjoyed the small touches with some of the art, most of which is about beer. My only recommendation was that they get a picture of Willie and put it up somewhere. You don't want to open a bar down the street from where
Willie lives without of picture of him. Â What if he popped in?
I don't get out to Bee Caves too much, but if I lived out here I'd be as happy as a puppy with two peckers a Little Woodrow's opened up to be my neighborhood bar. (That is pretty happy!)
