This place is OK. Some of the servers are very good, some are middlin'-bad, which doesn't help. The food itself is pretty generic, and sometimes comes in strange combinations or shapes. Also, please note that if it is on both the "special" menu and the regular menu, the special portion may be reduced.
Not a bad place for lunch if you have to stay near Caldwell, but not the best, either. Close to the freeway, which makes it more palatable if you are just stopping by- no need to go into town which can be an adventure all by itself.
The service was adequate, but the 3 waitresses kept complaining about the "rush" of 10 people who had arrived just before us. Portions were small, and we were given stale dinner rolls straight from a bag.
Got the key lime and chocolate peanut butter pies, the key lime was just jello & cool whip, and the choc/pb was bitter.
Butterfly shrimp was good, I'll give them that!
Let's be honest here -- this is Caldwell, Ohio. Â If you're expecting five star dining anywhere near Caldwell, you probably need to go and get your head checked out. Â For those of you who think I'm kidding, or don't know what I'm talking about, I spent about eighteen years of my life in this town, so, I've got some authority on what works and what doesn't.
Lori's is a quaint family owned restaurant. Â If you're looking for some classic americana style food, and very, very reasonable prices (along with some kick-ass Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie), this is the place to go. Â If you're expecting anything more than a classic diner experience, you're better off going elsewhere. Â The portion sizes are always hearty, the staff has always been attentive, and the chocolate peanut butter pie is amazing. Â
Did I mention that you should try the pie?
