The food here is enjoyable, and it is a fun place to stop if you want to go out for a motorcycle ride or short car trip.

Well worth the stop if you are in the area. Did a motorcycle ride and stopped here for lunch. Chile Verde was excellent, and could have easly fed 2 people. Chips and salsa were damn good, and got to be the coldest beer and magies in town.

Great Motorcycle Stop.  My wife and I have stopped there a few times on the Motorcycle and find the place to be a welcome stop.  Great food and service and faraway from the crowded city folk.   Pretty area, great food, and quiet.  What else do you want.

    ZERO STARS!

On what planet is this Mexican food? I drove 45 minutes on 02/15/2013 because my father was driving me crazy about having to go to this place that serves the "BEST MEXICAN FOOD THAT HE HAS EVER EATEN!"

To be fair my wife is Hispanic and I have been spoiled by having all of the women in her family making Mexican food for me here in and Mexico for the past 27 years. In no way shape or form is this Authentic Mexican. Just because the people making the food and the Brothers, (Hermanos), that own the Restaurant are Mexican doesn't automatically make it, "THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD ANYONE HAS EVER EATEN IN THEIR LIVES.".

We went and we thought about having a great dinner at an out of the way spot, because no matter where we lived or traveled we prefer the "Hole in the Wall" places. They often times are the best. Since it was Friday and Lent we opted to tay away form Meat. I was going to order the Shrimp Fajitas, until I saw what was delivered to the neighboring table. The woman picked at it the entire time and it looked as if it was just moshed up with bell peppers and dumped on to the plate. The first tip to a Mexican Restaurant is the rice. If they cannot make rice then the food is going to be sub-par. I have had packaged that was better, my wife and I felt that it may have even been packaged rice.

The enchiladas tasted ld and like they had been sitting in sauce waiting to be re-heated, causing them to tasted stale, old and like a big dough ball. The Chili Rellenos had to have been frozen and re-heated because there were all of 15 people there besides us and I could see one of the guys in the back making them and stacking about 40 cooked Chili Rellenos on a tray to be store for future use.

Again to be fair they are trying to make it in a place where the surrounding area is looking for a place to eat out. I grew up in Portola and it was a big deal when my father called me years later just to tell me they got their first and still only traffic light on the highway and later to tell me that they put in sidewalks. So anything will satisfy the people who eat there. The average age of the people eating there ranged between 55-70, until some hipsters showed up which let me know I will never return here.

It is easy to pass off great food is you get them good an drunk first on the heavily boozed up Margaritas and serve to drunk old people who don't get out much and have no other place to go.

To top off the terrible evening, we had to stop at Leonard's Market in Loyalton for Ginger Ale for my wife and by Vinton she was leaving her dinner on the side of the road. We couldn't even make it home before she quite literally vomited!

When my father called that evening he thought he was going to have a conversation about how great this place was. When I told him about our horrible experience, he said then we are the only ones out of Thousands that think that way. I seriously doubt a 70 year old Man who shows up there, over does it on the booze is polling "Thousands of People", to see how they liked it, considering Sierraville has under 200 people as a population. He also informed me that he has never had good Mexican food in entire City of Reno where we live. I had to remind him that you don't get good food at Casinos. You have to go into the neighborhoods. I would match the Mexican Food at "La Fuente" on Baring and McCarran in Sparks, NV any day of the week against the Garbage at Los Dos Hermanos!

If you are passing through and starving you can take your chances, get drunk first and borrow some depends underwear form the old people that eat there. The booze will make it go down and the Diapers will help you out while driving when the old poorly made food runs right through you!

Sorry guys. I gave you a chance, couldn't wait for this great meal and you failed us. My wife was sick into the next day after our visit to your Restaurant.....

Went to this restaurant for the first time even though we have been hearing great things about it for a long time. I'm always afraid to try something that has such high accolades and then be disappointed. Nothing could have been further from the truth. Quite honestly I have to say that this was the BEST Mexican food I have ever eaten!! It was full of authentic lip smacking flavor, prepared perfectly and hot. This is not the typical mush on a plate, the rice was perfect and the refried beans actually looked like refried beans and not a pile of goop. For sure this place is worth the effort to get there, there is no place like it nearby, not even in Reno!!!

While staying at the Globe Hotel and visiting the hot springs, we were very happy to have a convenient, high integrity restaurant to enjoy a few meals. Antonio was one of the most upbeat servers we've ever had. He truly cared about what we ordered and our whole experience. Our meals for dinner were good but not great. The carne asada isn't really carne asada. It's big chunks of steak on skewers. Not the finely choppped, well-seasoned meat we expect. The next day we came back for lunch and  tried the tacos. I had one fish and one shrimp and they were pretty much the best I've ever had. I couldn't believe it.  Both the shrimp and fish were very fresh and seasoned so well. I appreciate that they were grilled and not fried. The tacos were overstuffed and extremely generous for $4. I think the tortillas were handmade. I look forward to our next visit.

5 stars? No way - food was somewhat bland but service was good.  Would eat there again but then what else is there in Sierraville?

This is not our first visit and by all means not our last. The chile relleno was beyond great the perfect gooey cheese and sauce. The flan was "out of this world" it was the lightest and fluffiest simply fantastic!Service by the owners and wait staff top notch in a valley where the economy has shuttered most of the restaurants.Lastly the atmosphere and courtesy was wonderful.

They call it authentic Mexican food.... I'd call it Authentic Northern-California-Mexican food!

The Carne Asada I would defiantly recommend !!
    Well made!

Had a sample of the Lamb Shank Stew (DELICIOUS) but choose to go with the Carne Asada Plate.. If I'm ever back I'll surely have the stew.!

    Very Good!

    Enjoy

I'll admit, I didn't give this place much of a chance my first time here. It's really the only restaurant in town. How good could a Mexican place be in podunk-ville? I mean I couldn't even check in since my phone (AT&T) gets zero bars here.

The answer is actually really good! From the great service (informing us that the rice & refried beans are both vegetarian, unlike *ahem* Chevy's!) to the generous portions with quality ingredients, this certainly ain't Chevy's! & that's a good thing.

The chips & salsa are top of the line. The waiter kept these stockpiled as soon as he saw them near empty. Which in the case of the salsa, was often. The flaco burrito was overflowing with fresh veggies, rice, beans, & guacamole. I didn't think I was going to finish it but it was so good, the burrito vanished from my plate. Toss back some of their delicious margaritas or a few beers and you're all set.

It may not be worth a 3-4 hour drive to Sierraville, but if you ever find yourself passing through, it's a must-stop. Just make sure it's not a Monday (closed) & it's before 8pm. They close up @ 8 on the dot!

Amazing mexican food.  And hefty margaritas.  A great restaurant in a rural setting.

Es mui delicioso! Es mi favorito!

Delicious ingredients. Authentic preparation. Comfortable, low-key atmosphere. Easy-going staff (and locals).

We'll make a point to eat here every time we're in Sierraville!

The reviews below are right on! Delicious Mexican food in a casual setting......just a hop, skip and a jump away from the Globe Hotel and Sierra Hot Springs.

With VERY limited choices in Sierraville, Los Dos Hermanos will satisfy your hunger after a long hike in the woods. Chill out, talk with the locals, have a beer (or margarita) and then head over to the Springs for a soak.

You will enjoy the meal and hospitality.

    Beware....they are closed Mondays!!!!

I have been to this wonderful place on each of my last thirty visits to the hot springs. The owner is there to see that every customer gets great food and service. The lamb shanks fall off the bone! With the local airport and hot springs just a few minutes walk away, you need to see why a town of 200 has a place like this that handles hundreds of customers each weekend.

(Sung in the whiny latin lover notes) Looooossss Doosssss Hermaaaaaanoosssss, me dan comida. Esta buena, super deliciosa!

This place rocked our chimichangas off. We stepped in before visiting the nearby hotsprings and were blown away. Nachos were free, freshly made with super tasty salsa ... 3 orders we consumed in the 7 minutes before getting our full orders.

Did you hear that ... 7 minutes for sweet savory salsa surprises! Ahhh, I'm almost tempted to say this place beats out any SF Mission District restaurant I've been to.

Head over to the nearby hot springs when you're done, you won't be disappointed.

I give five stars very rarely but when 30+ people walk into a restaurant and the staff is able to handle the crowd as well as serve great food, they should get rewarded. We have a favorite Mexican restaurant in southern Oregon and judge all others using our favorite as a standard. The food was surprisingly good (for such a small community) and the locals have recognized that because the place was busy. I hope we get the chance to eat here again.

We have driven by this place many of times on our way to our camp spot.  So we finally stopped in even though we really weren't going to eat dinner.  We ordered three shots of Cazadores, 4 beers and an appetizer of chicken nachos.  Nachos were good.  We killed them in about 4.249 minutes.  Not the places fault but man I swear that shot was terrible.  It went down the anti-smooth.  They had a nice TV at the bar and the inside is pretty old fashioned.  But I am happy to finally check this place out.  Maybe I will eat there someday.

Knowing that I can dive headfirst into a heavenly margarita and plate of  divine goodness makes my life in Truckee worth living.  Service has always been friendly and accommodating.  Whether you have the chimichangas, veal shanks, or enchiladas del mar, you won't be disappointed.  Quality, freshness and preparation are top notch.
Viva Mexico en Sierraville!  Definitely worth the drive.

Being from the Bay we have some great spots. But fresh meat is fresh meat!

    Man this place is AMAZING!

Service was nothing to write home about, but the food was to die for!

A definite stop if you are in the area.  My burrito was amazing

Let me be the first to give this place 5 stars, because it is pretty remarkable considering the location. My fish taco was fantastic for being in the sticks of cow-town USA. California or not, this is the mountains and I'm pretty sure they didn't pull the fish out of Lake Tahoe.

Though I passed on drinking margaritas I probably shouldn't have. Every patron in this place had tequila written all over them. They must have been mighty tasty! But I saved my calories for fried ice cream instead. Yum! Mexican food seemed random as anything way out here. And even coming from San Francisco, the capitol of burrito snobbery, I do have to give Los Dos Hermanos props. I cleaned my plate.

If you're heading to Sierraville, save a meal to eat here. Enjoy a margarita after soaking the day away at the hot springs!

Pretty good overall. I went hiking for 3 days before coming here so this was the first real food I'd had in about that long. The prices were amazing after having been in SF and Tahoe. I ordered the shredded beef burrito. It came stuffed full of beef which was nice after eating ramen and oatmeal. I spent about $10 total on burrito and a drink. pitchers of margaritas are about $15. great place to go before or after going to sierraville hotsprings.

I give Dos Hermanos 4 stars with regret.  It really should get 5, but I can't bring myself to do it - i don't know why.
you'd never expect this place would be so good, given its location.  it'll blow your expectations away.
it's definitely worth the walk, bike ride, or drive from the hot springs for a beer and a meal.  i also have tried to time my trips through sierraville so that they'd coincide with dinnertime.  you won't find mexican food like you get at dos hermanos anywhere in truckee or most of the surrounding area.
    definitely recommended.

This is one of two or three restaurants in the town of Sierraville.  As the name suggests, it's a Mexican restaurant.

After a day of soaking at the nearby hot springs, a friend and I tried this place out, expecting the worst.  We figured that since we were in a small town with few options, whatever options they had would surely be sub-par.  We were pleasantly surprised.

Here's what we came away with:  Dos Hermanos serves up some great, reasonably price Mexican food.  The service was good, and the chips and salsa were infectiously addictive.  The only reason I give it 4/5 stars is because it really lacks in ambiance.  Still, it more then makes up for it with the food.

    Highly recommended.
