If it weren't so pricey I'd give it 5 stars.  The food didn't really warrant the price and the price scale is also out of place in that town.  I did love the beer and I did love the atmosphere.  I will be going back, just not as often as I'd like, I'm not rich.

This place surprised us. It could have been a brewery in DC. The service was friendly and the standard fare was competently executed. We had the fish and chips, ribs, and calamari. My favorite was the hush puppies. The dark ale was chocolatey and the pale was flowery.

I think someone else touched on this; beer prices are crazy.  It looked like a neat place but I just stopped in for beer.  A growler of beer for $27 and a re-fill for $18.  Really?  I usually fill up a growler for 1/2 that price in Fairfax and DC or any other brewery for that matter.  I will not be back for prices like that.  Sorry.

I stopped here to fill a couple growlers on my way back from camping and was blown away when they charged me $18 a piece. That's $18 for less than a six pack worth of beer. Sorry, but I won't be stopping back here for beer - I can get better prices at the breweries in DC.

I wanted to love it....I didn't. We walked in and the decor was upscale rustic. It was kind of quaint. I had read a little about the history of the place on their website so was really looking forward to a good meal. And all the reviews on yelp looked pretty good.

Everything was really slow. The waitress took our drink orders and then a few minutes later took our dinner order but didn't bring our drinks to the table for another five minutes.

The special for the evening was duck breast (which I love) but when I asked if I could sub a different vegetable for the asparagus I was told no. They don't do substitutions.  She informed me that I could order another side and pay full price. No offense but if I'm going to order a 26 dollar meal, I'd like the price of the side included in the meal. I wasn't trying to up-charge anything, I'd just like something besides asparagus, mashed potatoes or something similar would have been a-ok. I was slightly annoyed but whatever decided to order the rib-eye instead as the sides were something that I would eat.

It took 20 minutes to get my salad delivered and 35 minutes for the remainder of the food for our party of 4 was delivered. Mind you the table next to us who ordered their entrees after we did were 3/4 of the way through their meal by the time ours arrived. During this long period of time with nothing happening, the waitress came by the table 2 times to ask how everything was.  Not sure why, as we were obviously just waiting for the food to arrive, and hadn't consumed our drinks...it was odd, as she was hovering when there was nothing to hover over.  Although later, when there WOULD be a reason to hover, my wife had to track down the waitress to let her know of the problems we had.

My salad arrived with room temperature greens and was so heavily oiled, it was hard to find any flavor. The vinaigrette would have been nice with less oil and a chilled salad. The steak that I ordered was inedible. It tasted like gas, I don't know how else to explain it, plus it was overcooked.  And the "shoestring" french fries....I don't even know where to start. When the plate came out there was no steak visible beneath the fries. And the rib-eye isn't a small steak. They had been fried for too long and were so crispy that they snapped. They were not fries, more like potato sticks. The burger that my mom ordered was under cooked to the point where the center was still cool. No way did the internal temperature hit anything close to medium. My daughter was happy with her burger and my wife was also happy with the pasta carbonara though it was slightly under-seasoned.

We were going to have our meals re-fired but were told that it would take at least 20 more minutes for the re-fire. No thanks, we'll just take the check for the food we were able to eat.

On the positive side the restaurant comped the drinks that my mom and I had ordered as well as my salad. They also apologized for the mistake. Just seems like we had bad luck all the way around. like I said, I wanted to love it, but I couldn't.

The food and craft brewed beer are very good especially for a small town in WV. However, the service is severely lacking. I have been multiple times. They get completely flustered and lost when the restaurant is busy. On my last visit we ordered drinks and around 20 minutes later the waitress started bringing the drinks one and two at a time. First 2, then 5 minutes later another 1 .  When I complained she walked away form the table to the bar and told another patron (her friend) that I complained. She didn't bother to check on our drinks. If you were seated at the bar your drinks came in a timely fashion. They need to get their act together.

This hidden gem in Wardensville was a big surprise and a fabulous stop on the way back from Seneca rocks. The location is quaint & the restaurant is classy. Makes you forget your even in West Virginia for a minute. Recommend the beer, both the wit and pale ale we had were light and refreshing. The burger was thick, juicy and flavorful just what I'm into.) Also the hush puppies were to die for. Definitely can't wait to come back.

We were driving by after a day out at Seneca and spotted this joint.  It looked wildly out of place in Wardensville.  The atmosphere inside is really cozy and well decorated.  Their beers were good and the food was really tasty.  I got to say I never expected to find a place like this out here.  I will definitely be back soon!  I can see my rating going up to five stars but first I have to try some more beers and food.  Looking forward to it.

Great place.  Food is good, especially the ribs and burgers.  Always a good home brew or two available on tap.  Service is laid back and friendly.  Only drawback is the fake cheese they use in their nachos.  Great place to eat at after a hike in the GW National Forest.

This is much better food and beverage than I would have expected passing through such a small town.  I was in the middle of a long ride to see the fall foliage and needed a break and some grub, and Lost River certainly hit the spot.  My house-brewed Pale Ale was quite good, with a nice crisp flavor, and if I hadn't had couple more hours of riding in front of me I would have tried some of the other options.

For food, I just went basic with a Lost River Dog (a hot dog with mustard, onion & corn relish).  For $4.99 I expected a standard small dog with yellow mustard, a lot of bitter onions, and a touch of corn, on a plain SYSCO bun.  What I got was a huge, juicy hot dog on a baguette-style bun with just the right amount of mustard, enough onions to give flavor without overwhelming you, and a huge pile of delicious corn relish.  It was certainly a pleasant surprise, especially for the price.  If I am riding anywhere in the area, I'll be back for more, and I would recommend you do the same.

They stayed open for us and then served me one of the best filets I've ever had.  This place is amazing!  I'd come to this town just to eat here. The baseball cut was amazing!

Random find dining between DMV area and West Virginia.  Excellent food, great beer.  Glad we stopped.

I stay in the area a few times a year and this is my go-to place for good food and good beer.  The seafood is surprisingly good for a small restaurant so far from the water and the service is great.  Usually I eat off the appetizer menu (the tuna tartar is so yummy) but I've had the rockfish when it was a special and it was quite nicely done.  It has a comfortable ambiance and it is definitely OK to walk in wearing your hiking clothes and sandals.  The beer has been pretty good.  I've had a couple of their own brews and the black ale really stood out.  All the staff I have dealt with are friendly and cheerful and every dining experience has been a good one.  Definitely a great find in an out of the way place. Stop by if you are in the area. You won't be sorry.

This is the new guaranteed stopover on our trip to Elkins (and back).   The food was outstanding (great burgers, chicken tenders for the kids, BBQ chicken, pulled pork), the service was very attentive considering that we had lots of kids with us and made quite a mess, and the decor is rustic but neat and tidy.  Plenty of good beer on tap, an impressive wine list, and daily specials make this spot a must visit.  We'll be back!

Lost River Brewing Company is the perfect stop on you way back from fly fishing, hiking, motorcycling, biking, hunting or climbing in the Seneca Rocks area. Excellent food and beer that also includes a full bar.

In my opinion the star of the kitchen are their burgers. Thick and juicy with a great char grilled flavor. I get mine medium and it's always perfectly cooked. You will have a hard time finishing it, but you will. It's a crime to leave something this good on your plate. The nachos aren't half bad either, piled high with chili, jalapenos, guacamole and sour cream. Be fore warned it's a huge portion. The beers are very good, but somewhat limited. All with great prices, Almost Heaven.

Too bad the burgers are so good, the menu is quite varied and goes well beyond the typical bar food. Think upscale menus with WV prices. I really need to move on from the burgers, but they're so damn good.

Cool decor. No need to change cloths after said fishing, hiking or climbing, roll in wearing flip flops and you'll fit right in. The place gets rocking as the evening wears on.

Lost River is the best place to stop for grub and beer after working up a hunger after a day in the WV mountains.

Great pulled pork and slaw sandwich with fries on the side for $7.99.  Huge portions.  Love the fact that they offer the bbq sauce and ketchup on the side.

    Service was friendly.

Good pulled pork and slaw sandwich. Too bad the brewery isn't cranking yet. I'll have to check back...

I first ate here when the original owners had a license to brew their own beer. The food under the first ownership group was forgettable, but the beer they made on site was terrific, I can only hope the new owners can craft a brew that rivals the former. Under the new ownership the food quality has improved. I recommend the rack or ribs, the sauce is tangy and sweet and the meat is fall off the bone tender. The price of the food is reasonable, the price of the beer is not, but if you love beer it doesn't matter...one other note: the decor (which typically I don't care about) is unlike any restaurant I have ever been in. It has a floor to ceiling tree trunk that is the main focal point in the bar area. It is dimly lit, but no so dark you can't read the menu...a very nice date night location...

Bumped the rating up a star based on the beer and expanded brewery.

Lost River gives the impression they are still a young restaurant learning as they go. The food is hit and miss and they are a brewing company that doesn't appear to brew any beer. However, they look to have great potential as the atmosphere was great and the service was good.

They could have gotten 4 stars if it wasn't for two very unsatisfying meals. My friend ordered a $7 strawberry spinach salad and got a small pile of spinach with maybe one strawberry on top. I had the worst ribs I've had in my life. They were very tough and chewy. I felt like a Neanderthal trying to pull meat off the bones. The sauce was nothing special either.  We told the waitress afterwards but they chose not to compensate us in any manner. Perhaps we should have said something upfront, but we were hungry and there was no real excuse for not trying to make right in some manner afterwards.

Everyone else enjoyed their meals. Others had been there multiple times and been happy. I would recommend Lost River, but be careful what you order. The burgers, roasted salmon, and pulled pork went over well. Hopefully they will work on improving the menu.

Wardensville/WV finally has a good restaurant!  Seriously? YES!

They are still working to get the license to brew their own beer but I was told it's less than 90 days away. Apparently this place has been taken over by a new owner very recently.

If you ride motorcycles or love to take your Prius on old route 55, you now have a place to eat some really nice food.

This time I only had room for a pulled pork sandwich but I will be back for some of the other parts of the menu which contain some more real main dishes.

Unimaginable!  Beautiful place tucked away on the way back from Canaan valley or Snowshoe ski resorts back to D.C.  So nice that it is almost out of it's element in its location.  Beautiful decor, clean, excellent service.  The food taste and choices are outstanding from fresh seafood to homemade salsa and guacamole on the Nachos.  The beer is great also.  Impressive!!!!

I dragged my family across the WV border because I'm a fierce competitor in the race against myself to visit all 50 states, and I hadn't yet been West Virginia. I wanted to do *something* in the state to stake my claim, and this brewery near the border sounded fun.

The beer was quite good. We tried two of the Lost River options, one was an (intentionally) sour beer that was interesting but not my cup of tea, and a fortified 10.4% alcohol beer that I liked quite a lot. It tasted sort of like mulled wine but with beer. I didn't see any evidence that they brewed the beer on site, but it was a fun bar nonetheless.

Also, I never expected to find myself listening to Lady Gaga at a brewery in West Virginia.

Came across this place on the way home from a backpacking trip in Virginia. Not a lot to say about it because there's not a lot to it other than some decent beer, a cozy environment and some average pub food.

It is an actual brewery because they brew their own beer directly to the right of the restaurant/bar area which is always cool. They are just starting out so they have more "guest" beers on tap than their own, but this will probably change once they're more established.

If you live in the area, or are passing through beautiful West Virginia...definitely a good place to relax for a couple beers although you might find yourself paying D.C. prices at $5-6.50 a pop.
