Food is OK but the service is utterly abysmal.  The first time I went to Meridian Mall location I chalked it up to one employee being bad.  She literally didn't acknowledge the customers and instead played with her iPhone while sitting behind the counter.  I ended up saying "Excuse me" to get her attention then she acted very annoyed and reluctantly stood up to take the order.
Today we were at the mall again, and since they actually have decent food, I decided I"d give it another try.  MIstake...  this time the girl behind the counter glared, was rude ("what do you want" instead of "may I help you"), no smile.  I asked for the grilled chicken basket and she says "we don't have chicken -it's in the oven."  I asked how long, thinking if it is about done I can wait, no problem.  She sighs, walks to the kitchen window, come back and tells me it will be an hour.  I said fine and just walked away.  Ridiculous.  It wouldn't have been as bad if the employees weren't so awful.  Never going back.

It's totally casual, and not perfect, but I miss it all of the time now that I live up north. All the time. Seriously. If I were more muscial, I'd write a sad ballad about how much I miss Lou and Harry's. I most frequently get the steak and onion grinder with no onion. It's freaking delicious with it's gooey flavorful cheese. The fries are also good and nicely seasoned, the dressing on the Greek salads is addictive, and gyros are another winner. I'd skip dessert here, not usually particularly special. I'd get just about anything else though.

I'm disgusted. $6 for a "greek" salad. Which was wilted white and brown iceberg lettuce, 1 olive, 1 soggy piece of cucumber, 1 soggy red onion ring, 1 pepper, 1 green pepper ring and some feta. Inedible.

So I picked out the green lettuce, quickly having to give up. Told the girl at the counter I couldn't eat it and she said "it could've been from the other day" YUCK. Serve me old food then tell me? Then she offered to make a new one from today. I said "no thanks, I just paid for lunch and have to go do it again somewhere else. You'll see all this on Yelp."

Really  no manager and no offer of a refund, which I wasn't requesting anyway.

Not sure if I'm a fan of because of all the memories at this place or a fan because of the food.  It's probably both.  Part of MSU's curriculum is to spend lots of time here and eat lots of their food.

It's very inexpensive and of course the standard order there is the Gyro Combo: Gyro, fries, and a very very large drink.  The gyro is very good, excellent meat, grilled pita, lettuce and onions, and Greek sauce.  The fries are delicious, but many times, it's a bit too salty.  I know, it's hard to say can you have too much, but sometimes they did.

I don't remember the exact name of the other sandwich I use to get, but it was a veggie sub, all veggies grilled and I could order it with their hot sauce.  It didn't have extreme heat, but it gave it a nice flavor.

Lou & Harry's is a staple of EL, when you're there, you have to go.  It isn't a bold statement to say that you're not a Spartan without some food from Lou & Harrys

I would not order food here ever again. I gave it two opportunities to live up to the reputation that precedes it, however, I was dissatisfied. In terms of drinks, though, Lou & Harry's serves strong, cheap drinks with great drink specials.

When I was an MSU student, you could find me at Lou & Harry's on Sunday around noon after a night out at either BW3, The Riv, or Rick's.

Get the cheeseburger with a fountain Coke for an instant hangover cure.

    Works every time.

I am, of course the wonderful person who suggested this place to Tyler B.  Lou and Harry's makes me nostalgic- it is a place we frequented in high school and I have watched it grow in the last decade or so.  With that in mind, I do love Lou and Harry's because it reminds me of good times and being young.

I will always try to go back to enjoy Lou and Harry's when I visit home.  My favorite choices are the cheeseburger, but even better is the Tommy's Chicken Caesar.  It is amazing and unique and yummy.  It is basically a chicken Caesar salad in a pita sandwich type of deal.  The fountain pop here is to die for, as it is clear they take care of their lines and syrup and whatnot.  I'm not a fan of the fries, they aren't tasty at all.  The pasta salads- especially the bow tie one is great.

Lou and Harry's has expanded with a couple more locations, and they even opened up a restaurant bar in downtown EL.  This location does it for me, though and I plan on sticking with the original location.

I was recommended this place by someone with a good working knowledge of East Lansing.  As an Ann Arborite, I was happy for the tip. Her initial evaluation was spot on - great soda (really? yeah...) meh fries (despite their claims of 'famous') and delicious food.

In my cursory experience of Louis and Harold's, I cringed at the Spartan decor (I'm a wolverine, what do you expect?) but otherwise found it to be your typical deli.  I ordered the greek shishkabob, and upon hearing that they were out of pork, switched to the chicken shishkabob. I was pleased with my pita - yummy chicken and peppers and tomatoes.  As noted, the fries seemed like more than an obligation than anything else, but the swimming pool sized drink definitely quenched the thirst.  The menu said $7 for the combo but I got charged $8 - both prices seemed a bit out of line for what I got.  But the tastiness of it all still let me walk out the door with  a smile on my face.

I'm  a firm believer that a deli (or by name, a grill, in this case) should not be judged by one visit alone. In my opinion, I got a great pita with meh fries that was overpriced.  But were I ever on an exended shore leave in ELansing, I can see Lou  and Harry's as a drunken savior when I'm gobbling their quesadilla at 2am (and that may very well merit 2 more stars). I know that after one visit, I'm more than willing to give it another try.

I loved this place when I first started going there.
Cheap enough food, lots of fries, variety.....etc.

After a while though, I noticed that whatever you order, it was all covered with the same greek sauce. I think it's their gyro sauce.

This includes the pasta and salads. Everything leaves your mouth with that same taste. Overkill. I never went again.

The veggie sandwhich was my favorite.

When i was a student at msu, i always came here to get their gyro combo. They have the best gyro and it's pretty addictive. I always go to this place everytime i visit east lansing.
