Location is good, looks nice inside. Fairly busy but not slammed. A decent place to stop by on a night out when you want to hit up other places too.
Now the bartender on the other hand. Don't remember his name, but he looked like Zach Braff. First of all, we sat down at the bar, and sat and sat. It literally took twenty minutes, and my boyfriend practically waving his hand in front of his face to get him to acknowledge us. It wasn't busy. He helped other walk ups while we were sitting literally directly in front of him.
So we order whiskey gingers. Instead of just, I don't know, giving us what we want he decided to make them with egg whites all along giving some speech about why it's better. Now, some gray-haired tourist might have loved the scphiel but were clearly aged college kids just trying to drink. And it was accompanied by this attitude of self-importance that can only be borne of a devastating high school life followed by a re-invention followed by bartending classes. But he wasn't any good at bartending- so it was all very weird. He was delusional.
Then, we moved outside and as time went by it got busier. I went back in to order a drink and said "I'm sorry if your slammed just take your time." I meant it...it was busy and if it took a while I was ok with that. I guess he imagined some sarcasm in my voice and told me "he had no problem kicking out a girl." K, bro.
All in all, on any other night, it might be better. But if Zach's behind the bar, move on.
Ah yes the Low 'n Slow.. "Low" refers to the bartender's IQ while "Slow" is clearly a reference to the service.
Pretty boy Zack Braff wannabe gets my vote for worst bartender in Santa Fe. What a tremendous asshole. Hey Zack- your job is to serve drinks, not to flirt with busted girls. It took at least 15 minutes to get a drink but at least Zack's condescending attitude was free of charge. Since he was so pretty I kept a close eye on Mr. Braff. I watched as he dropped bar tools on the ground and continued to use them without washing. I saw him use his nasty fingers to garnish drinks after handling money, coughing, and sneezing into his hands. He even put his feet up on the bar at one point and pulled out his phone. good stuff. This guy pulling similar antics at Santa Fe Bar and Grill, not surprised to see he is no longer working there. No regard for health and sanitation standards and no interest customer service.
The space itself sucks, it feels very phony and contrived. drinks overpriced, shitty food, shitty service. There are so many other options nearby.
ow'n Slow Lowrider Bar in the Hotel Chimayo
My wife and I had put this place on our to do list because some of our friends had recommended it.
My friends really have good taste so were were looking for an opportunity to visit. We decided that Friday night after visiting Canyon Road we would visit.  We instantly liked the decor, photographs of low  riders. The mixologist, Winston really knows his liquor. We were instantly impressed with his friendliness. After explaining that this was our first time, we quickly quizzed him about the menu. We cut to the chase, I like tequila and my wife wanted to try something with Hendrick's gin. Winston also did a quick quiz about our likes and dislikes. Although I am a big fan of tequila, I do not like mescal. I didn't want a regular margarita. I wanted something a little different. What I got was beyond my expectations. Winston mixed up a French Margarita. It wasn't that sweet margarita. It was fresh and bright and a tad sour. I really enjoyed it. My wife had a Hendrick's cocktail which I had to agree was one of the best tasting gin drinks I have ever had. This drink tasted every bit as good as it smelled. We decided to order some appetizers, the tamale plate and the guacamole. The kitchen belongs to Tia's Cocina., the restaurant inside the hotel.  The tamale plate consisted  of 2 tamales, one vegetarian and the other pork. They were excellent! The green chile and the Chimayo red chile were so delicious that it was very hard not to lick out the container. The guacamole was very flavorful and house made. We received more chips. It was a delightful experience. Other patrons told us that they followed this particular mixologist from another establishment. We were pleased with the friendliness of the mixologist, and the wait person.
