To this old timer, this establishment will always be the Oakbrook club. Â Burned into my memory like the copious amount of tobacco products that once proliferated that club, I never really longed to go because like Grocho Marx said "I never want to be apart of a club that would have me as a member."
The Lucky Duck Pub has improved vastly on the OBC. Â The new owners have completely remodeled the bar and have added more space. Â The remodeled feel provides a much more welcoming atmosphere and the blue lights give it classy feel. Â The walls are covered with tvs and brickerbrack. Â There are still darts and in the back there is now a giant jenga set... Score!
The people are still friendly, the beer is still cold, and the burgers are still big. Â Trivia is on Tuesday, and best of all on Fridays and Saturdays it is buy one get one alcoholic beverages. Â Holy Daniel Boone!!! Â Possibly the best deal in Boone County.
No longer an ugly duckling, the Lucky Duck Pub is worth checking out if you are in the neighborhood, looking for a drink with friends, or to root on your favorite sports. Â Maybe not a club anymore, but a place I would gladly a place I would like to be a member.
Went for the first time for lunch today after church to celebrate a friend's birthday. The food was ok. We had about 12 of us and none of us got our food at the same time. So, I was literally finished eating by the time the 2 people beside me even got their food. Also, I got my appetizer after my meal. When I brought it to the waitress' attention she said I didn't specify when ordering that I wanted it before the meal??? I thought it went without saying with an appetizer, but I guess I'd be wrong.
All in all, I won't be returning unless it's a vote of a group I'm with and the majority picks there, but  I'll be surprised if that happens! I'd give this place a D
My Mom, Husband and I went a while back and it was a good time. My burger was delicious and juicy. The cajun fries were a bit too spicy for me, but nothing a little ranch couldn't handle. We went for the Saturday night trivia and boy there was a huge turnout and not an open seat in the place. Our waitress was great and giving us a lot of attention well after our meal. I'll definitely be back for food and drinks, especially on trivia night.
Review Source:I wanted to like the Lucky Duck Pub. Â I really did. Â We even went two times to make sure we didn't just hit them on an off night the first time.
Alas, the best I can say about the Lucky Duck is that it is incredibly average. Â Over our two visits, we had their chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich, a fish sandwich and two different burgers. Â Everything was just okay to perhaps bland. Â
Lots of beer taps, but lots of boring beers on them.
Second time, there were also lots of kids. Lots of yelling, crying, running around, being ignored by their parents kids.
Do yourself a favor and drive a little farther to either Holler Hops & Grill or Hebron Brew Haus. Â You'll be glad you did.
