I was a little reluctant to eat here on our way through Walker based on the previous reviews of this place.
We ate here on a Saturday at 6:30 pm.
Average food, a tad overpriced. Â There is certainly nothing special about the food we had, I haven't checked out any of the other restaurants in town, but I wouldn't be afraid to come here again. Â
We tried the lavash $9.99
Bison burger $10.50
Fried green beans $7.99
Good service.
Great view of the lake.
The bar area was really happening... Loud and a little crowded, we weren't in the mood for a party, so we chose the dining room, the bar noise was not audible from the dining room.
The only complaint I had was the activity from the employees, they were setting up the private party room and kept dragging tables and serving equipment past our booth loudly.
My wife and I have to been to the Lucky Moose many times because of the excellent service and good food. Some of their sandwiches are too messy and hard to eat, so because of that I would have given them 4 stars. However, that was before we met the second worse waitress we've ever dealt with. In addition to being slow and inattentive, she refused a request. Â I ordered a Reuben and it arrived with a very small cup of Thousand Island on the side. I politely asked for more and she said she would bring me more when I needed more. I asked her again and she told me she was watching for when I needed it. Halfway through my sandwich I ran out and she never returned. The waiter that we usually have does an excellent job but the waitress definitely ruined my meal for me. We won't go back because we don't want to risk dealing with her again.
Review Source:It's open in winter! Â The Lucky Moose mostly serves a mixture of American (hamburgers, sandwiches) and Cajun (etouffe, bbq shrimp (the baked beer and butter kind)). Â The atmosphere is classy-cabin: warm toned wood. Â Only the bar was open, but it looks very spacious, with an upstairs and patio. Â In summer it would be a great place to sit and look at the lake.
I had a bbq burger- it was good, not overcooked. Â
I also upgraded to a side of sweet potato fries.  I think sweet potato fries muct be difficult to cook- so few places get it right.  This place ALMOST has it.  However, it's a pretty big step down to 'almost right.'   They also had  a pear and blueberry dessert that sounded great, but I skipped it.
