Luella's Restaurant Bar

Ok I wanted to wait a few days to let my thoughts form correctly but I can no longer wait.  This place should close down for false advertisement.  The website claims that Tuesday's is Grown and Sexy night with $2.00 crab legs, $2 ice house draft, house, drink specials and $0.50 wings.  Sounds decent right!! NOT when we arrived I should have known it was bogus because the parking lot was damn near empty.  I walked in and there was a couple having dinner and a guy sitting at the bar, everyone else standing around were employees.  Apparently the couple had a coupon and sadly sat waiting for almost 20mins on the manager to fix ticket, but per the server she was not sure where he was at?!????  Now the place is huge no doubt but it did not feel like a sports bar but more like a regular restaurant with an abnormally long bar. Anyway let me stay in order so the Tuesday special was posted on the door but only highlighted certain parts.  The menu indicates they add 15% gratuity automatically to the ticket, but please feel free to tip more if you are happy.  All this made sense with regards to the service we received because no matter what they would get tipped anyway, which to me is bull.  I always tip and tip more as deserved but they really make sure that they get it no matter what.

The waitress finally came over and when we asked what drinks were on special she named out a few but they were on special for $9.00.  Now I was not drinking anything nor had I planned to so I was sober so I know that a &7 price difference is a little extreme.  Sooo we ordered one alcoholic and a juice and the menu was presented. Hmmmm the menu offered all fried foods with no written option for broiled or baked items.  I mean not everyone eats fried food so I was surprised that I was able to get my fish grilled.  So we ordered grilled fish which came with 2 sides--picked sweet potatoes and red beans and rice with a side salad.  Well the salad did not come out until the food came out, which seemed like the waitress, who disappeared, not only takes the orders but makes the food too.  She said they were out of the dressing that I had selected and it was taking long because they had not made up any house salads.  I wanted to tell her that was so long ago that she can keep that salad in the kitchen because the timing is completely off and I don't want to eat my app with my main entree. So anyway to keep down confusion I just thanked her.

Now the $2 crab leg special is for 1 cluster with maybe 4 legs not all 5 and they are sooooo small I am not even sure where they would be ordering those from since the grocery stores sells way bigger legs. They must steam a huge batch before they open and just plate them up because they were not even warm.  Actually they were steamed too long and overcooked so getting that cold ass meat out the shell was even more frustrating. The sweet potatoes were indeed sweet but sadly I could not enjoy because they were full of strings. They need to take a few extra steps to actually be sure that the majority is gone.  The two pieces of fish were just laying on top of each other all broken into pieces, which I hope the chief was not proud of his/her presentation.  Hell a 6 year old could fix a plate better than that, I mean it was no seasoning to the fish or anything so that was a wasted $10.  However here is the kicker and then I am done since I don't want to think of them again-- After the meals were picked over and we declined to-go boxes, the waitress came over and said," oh my manager just gave us this list of today's special's so we did not even know that we had specials"......wth you have got to be kidding me!!!! She went on to talk about the other nights with specials and we just listened while smiling and thinking we will never be back, even if all this ish is free.

I had a really great time at Luella's last Friday! The hostess was really nice and she took a picture of my family for me.... (Thank You). The food was really good and the music was really what I needed! Grown and Sexy Place. I will be back just as soon as I move from Chicago!

This is definitely an older crowd, but I always have fun and am very entertained. I love the live bands that perform. They engage the crowd and keep the energy level up for hours. I have been on a Friday and a Saturday, and I must admit I enjoy Saturdays better. On Fridays there is a lot of line dancing, so you will be sitting down watching more than dancing on Fridays.
The food is delicious and not expensive at all. Cheap and strong cocktails as well. The service isn't the greatest, but it isn't terrible either.  I would definitely go back again.
