Just had dinner here. Â This place is awful! Â The she crab soup was so thick I ate it with a fork. Â It had a fair amount of crab in it but was very, very sweet and tasted more like corn chowder. Â My son had the chicken piccata ($18). Â He could barely cut it because it was so dry. One of the worse chicken dishes I've ever had. Â I had the pasta Bolognese ($16). Â The pasta was al dente which is the only nice thing I can say about it. Â It didn't resemble a traditional Bolognese. Â I've made this dish much better at home. Â I understand that this is the only place in the area but you'd be better off driving to Tappahannock or really anywhere else than eating here.
Review Source:Fish and Chip special not crispy, soggy, heavily battered, probably frozen, calamari decent, but again probably frozen, biggest disappointment eggplant appetizer, eggplant too thin, very tough and dry, not what you would expect from an Italian restaurant. For the prices could find comparable ( or better) Italian food in Warsaw or Tappahanock.
Review Source:Fried green beans with a chipotle dipping sauce? Â Delicious, but don't tell my cardiologist. Â The reuben was huge and delicious - two meals. Philly style steak was actually shaved steak from a good cut of meat - not greasy enough, needed mayonaisse or marinara sauce. Very generous portions. Reasonable lunch prices; decent selection for range of tastes. Everything was prepared fresh - no bottled anything. Â We'll go again when we're looking for a good lunch in the Northern Neck. Â Tucked off the road behind Dollar General so it's easy to miss.
Review Source:Great place, great food! Only problem I have is their seating arrangements are hit or miss. Went there without a reservation and were told we'd have to sit at the bar. The entire time we were there, lots of tables were open and never filled. Minor but still.....Go on Wednesday's for pasta night!
Review Source:Meh. Â Decent for the Northern Neck.
Specifically....it's the only Italian restaurant in the area, and they don't have homemade pasta. Â The marinara tastes like it's from a jar, and the "homemade desserts" were unavailable because they were frozen. Â Ridic. Â I can get premade frozen desserts at the grocery store.
I also don't understand why an Italian restaurant has fried green beans and pickles with chipotle dipping sauce?! Â Not exactly Italian.
