The  Lunchbox

I discovered this gem as I was passing through Ladysmith. It's a block off the highway on the old main street, so you have to be looking for it. For me, it was serendipity because I was looking for something else - but it was lunchtime and their specials sounded good - so I went in.

At the advice of the hostess and a local who was there, I ordered a panini. It was served quickly with baked potato chips and a dill pickle slice. The servers and everyone associated with the cafe/gift shop are friendly and a lot of fun! I greatly enjoyed my sandwich.

By the way, if you're a pottery wonk, you'll be pleased to know that The Lunchbox serves on Fiesta from Homer Laughlin. The Homer Laughlin Company is located in Newell, West Virginia and is one of the last china companies left in the United States. Fiesta is known for its color and Art Deco designs. The famous ball-shaped salt and pepper shakers, in multiple colors, adorn each table.

I don't get to Ladysmith very often (like hardly ever) but I'll be sure to have lunch here again!
