Five words: tacky, tacky, tacky, tacky, overpriced!

M Five "prides" its self for being an upscale, hip place, for young professionals, and it is certainly not. The interior decor is so painfully tacky and ill conceived that it drained all the class from the surrounding area. The place is smartly located in the old Eddies Bar, in the palatial Days Inn, conveniently next to Wal-Mart. Now all though the inside is a neon light, and cube ottoman hell scape the outside patio is BEAUTIFUL. That is not enough reason to go and pay obscene amounts of money for "sophisticated drink" concoctions and tiny food offerings. It had a lot of potential till it turned into a none ironic night at the roxbury.

Las Crucens wanted a cool, hip, more grown up place to hang out and eat that is not an obnoxious night club, or a 90's oxygen bar. This is an odd mixture of the two. Rethink the atmosphere and prices and keep that awesome patio, as for now SKIP!

    BOTTOM LINE:
The cutesy concept of 'bites' equals child size portions at adult prices. Yes the food is very good. But, I would not go back because of the ridiculous portion size to price ratio.

SERVICE: Friendly & attentive. Forgot one thing for a table of six. Kitchen was very slow.
FOOD: Delicious - though portion size leaves you hungry

    REVIEW:
I Went with a group of 6 on a Tuesday around 5:30. There were very few other people there.

Most of us were very happy with the quality of the food. Salads were delicious. Chicken was tender and delicious. Ribeye was fairly tender and tasty. Calimari were outstanding for anywhere, but especially for a place in the desert. Meatloaf was good.

The waitress was pleasant and friendly. The chef even came out and chatted w/ us.
Only one mix up, my appetizer was delivered with my meal after I specifically requested it to come before.

But, for the place to be so empty the service was oddly slow. Very slow. It could be a good sign that everything is made fresh to order and perfectly timed for the whole table. But, if the restaurant were full, I can't imagine feeding everyone at 30 minutes per table to wait for their order.

My one big complaint is the portion size. They are getting cute with the whole 'bites' concept. Perhaps if someone really wants a Child size portion this place is a good choice. But, I prefer a real portion size for a meal. The meals are too big to order 2 and too small to fully satisfy one person. Ideally I guess a group would order several things and share. But, the 'meals' come out as complete meals w/ entree and veg, so would be odd to share. The prices are also what you would expect to pay for an adult size portion of food.

What really ripped it off though was the tiny cheesecake for desert. Yes they were delicious and made in house. But, they were just two bites per slice. The price though was what you would pay for a real full sized piece somewhere else. Okay to be fair you get 3 of the tiny slices per order. It still doesn't equal a real slice of cheesecake. And there is something different about eating a tiny slice compared to a big slice. I'm an adult and  I'll take the bigger one thanks.

If you just want to drink and have something small, then this is Your place. I think the concept would work well in a more downtown or city local, but not in a primarily suburban area.
