I couldn't remember the name of this restaurant - I kept thinking "Greasy Spoon"! mostly because that's exactly what this place is. That's not necessarily a terrible thing, although my dining experience went a little too far for my tastes.
I *love* shredded hash browns and I always eat all of mine and will generally steal some of my boyfriend's too.. when he lets me :) However, I was not able to finish my hash browns here. It just felt and tasted like potato shreds drenched in vegetable oil. Hashbrowns should be crispy - they can be a little oily, but not wet looking. Meh :(
I ordered a veggie omlette as well - pretty standard. No real complaints there - nothing to write home about. I was however disappointed in the french toast I ordered. I got the special of the day - hazelnut french toast, which I was kind of hoping that it would be prepared with hazelnuts in the batter, but it really appeared to only have a few sparse sprinkles of hazelnut bits on top. Sad Face! The french toast itself was alright, and it would have been more acceptable french toast if I didn't have the impression that it would be wonderfully hazelnut flavored.
End result: Would I go back here? Maybe. Turns out I'll be living in the area for a while so my family may be in the mood for some diner grub and I'll accompany them. The food isn't terrible and the staff seemed nice enough, and I believe they did have a veggie burger on the menu as well. Hopefully their fries aren't as greasy as their hashbrowns.
M&M stands for Mmmmm food.
All the years I had grown up in Gresham and I had never tried out M&M. On the search for breakfast we came across the M&M and decided to venture in. The staff greeted us with a smile and told us we could sit wherever we wanted.
Almost immediately we were served with water and coffee.
What did we order!? EVERYTHING.
Pancake - perfectly fluffy and syrup was warmed.
Hashbrowns were crispy. Nothing out of the ordinary here.
Sausages...they gave me 4. Holy crap!
Eggs...always a breakfast staple.
My breakfast meal also came with toast that I couldn't even manage to eat. You ever just want one bite of everything that sounds good? Yep. That just happened.
Only qualm is that they did not return to refill my coffee. Actually they just asked my date if they wanted a refill and kind of ignored me...hmmm.
Definitely a locals joint. Friendly staff. Typical diner feel. Prices are fair.
M & M is a pretty decent neighborhood bar. Â We stopped in late because we were starving and needed a drink. Â The place has old school bar decor, but it was clean and had a pool table. Â They had decent, strong cheap drinks and friendly service. Â One of our party kind of inveted her own meal off of different parts of the menu, they were definitely more tolerant of that than I would have been!
If you are a fan of turkey, you should really come for their turkey dinner. Â Real turkey, real mashed potatoes with stuffing and home made gravy. Â Nothing fancy, put good down home cooking.
I didn't even get a chance to try the food. Â Went in on a Saturday morning and it looked busy, but it's a pretty small place. Â Watched the servers come out several times and help the people sitting near the doors, but somehow neither of them ever made it to our end. Â The third appeared to be serving a group in a second room.
After waiting over 15 minutes without somebody even bringing us a menu, we left along with a couple at the table next to us who were also tired of waiting. Â Not sure I'd give them a second chance after such poor service.
While I'm sure their other menu items are great too I've only had the chicken fried steak. We drive out to the M & M at least once a month for their fantastic chicken fried steak and country potatoes. They are hand breaded and fried on the griddle (not deep fried) beef patties with delicious sausage gravy and the potatoes are red potatoes fried with onions. Eggs are always done to order and the cooks gets the food out quickly even when they are busy. The portions are huge and prices reasonable. My only complaint is that sometimes the service can be slow. Friendly, but slow. (slow to take order, slow to bring bill or take out box)
Review Source:Great Karaoke and big dance floor! Â Their Karaoke days are Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays, which is perfect for my schedule. Â The DJ is interactive and a lot of fun.
They have Open Jams Sunday nights (and we've attended those also). Â
Bands on the weekend. Â
Good food and drink specials, low key casual environment.
This place has a nice friendly crowd and seems to have a pretty constant customer base with people flowing in and out regularly.
It's better and better - I had a great visit toy with one of my friends - I took her to the dinner for breakfast, the young man server was really good.
The food was greasy today... but the service was great!

We ended up here on Halloween night. We started out looking for karaoke here, since I saw a review mentioned that they do it here. Â
Yay! There was a live band playing instead. They were just okay, the lead singer was really good though. They did all the standard covers and there is a HUGE dance floor so you can do all your fancy footwork without knocking into someone next to you.
The waitresses were busting a hump trying to get drinks to everyone in a timely manner. The drinks themselves are pretty strong and arrived quickly enough, considering there were only two bartenders on duty for such a busy night.
I'll go back and check out the Karaoke and see how that goes.
Side note- there were quite a few surly drunks there, I don't know if they are regulars or not, but beware, just the same.
I had a lot of fun at this place. I am talking about the lounge. My wife and I frequent this place once or twice a month and it I always a good time. They have a great karaoke DJ and a huge selection of song choices. Drinks at the bar are priced fairly and you will pay what you would pay at most joints. We hit up this place last week and it was when Portland was hit with that heatwave. The high for the day was 104 and that night, the lounge had no AC on and it was VERY hot and unpleasant. We were there again last week (not so hot) and the AC was still down. So that is why I am giving a 4 star. Otherwise they are great. It's a nice place, you'll meet nice people and you'll have a great time. Check them out.
