This restaurant/bar combo opened summer of 2009 while I was working up in my college town. Â My friend's dad is a part owner, so he got my group of friends to come check it out when it opened. Â
First off, the decor of this place is pretty cool. Â There's an airplane on the roof of the building with a working propeller. Â There's all kinds of armed forces paraphernalia inside including a statue of a pilot that scares the bejeezus out of you everytime you enter from the back entrance...seriously I always think this guy is real!! Â The staff are mostly locals, friendly and the atmosphere is casual.
The food is pretty standard American...kind of like a not-as-adventurous Applebees. Â I can never remember what I ate there, but mostly I come for the bar. Â They have a dj once or twice a week and beer bucket specials. Â The summer I spent in Frostburg, I went a lot and they had a cool bartender named Tyler. Â He was awesome and would let us request made-up drinks like the Dirty Mustache or the Horrendous P*ssy Fart shot and he'd make his own concoctions for us. Â
The crowd here is a little older...mostly it seems like your parents and their friends-age people, and a ton of divorcees. Â Everyone at the beautiful wooden bar is pretty friendly and chatty, so I'd feel comfortable coming here alone even. Â I always had a good time.
Parking is a little limited, but it's walking distance to anywhere in Frostburg!
The Hangar has a great happy hour. I think it's $1 drafts and cheap happy hour food. They have a pretty decent crab cake and the decor is pretty interesting. It's worth stopping in for happy hour for sure! I was there before happy hour started and the bartender I had waited til happy hour to ring in my drinks so I got to pay happy hour prices for all my drinks. The staff is really friendly also.
