Very delicious! The owner is extremely personable. I've been there a few times and she's remembered us. She has random gifts made for the children... She gave our baby a bib that says "born to eat at main st. Pie." I love the fact that it's like eating great food at home. The style is sort of a country eclectic, you just come in and pick the dining table of your choice. The food, decaf sweet tea (who woulda thought), and service is great!
Review Source:(Act One)
Friends of Mine: Hey April, we're coming over tonight.
Me: Okay.
FOM: Should we eat before we come?
Me: ... oh ... hey, what about pizza?
FOM: Oh, we like pizza!
(Act Two)
Me, Coworker: (staring at half-cheese, half-sausage pizza) Holy crap.
(Act Three)
Husband: You didn't buy two?
Me: Trust me, no one's gonna need it.
(Pizza comes out of oven, beaming like a small star. Â Everyone's jaw drops. Â Slow transfer to a fresh plate, set gently in the middle of the table. Â I turn around to get my camera.)
Me: Okay, let me get a pi--
(Pizza has been snatched up. Â People are in the middle of devouring.)
Me: What the HELL.
Later on my friends confessed that they figured I would be getting something like Pizza Hut, so when they saw a good pizza, they lost all control. Â I smacked them both soundly and told them never to ruin my photo ops again. Â (Not really.) Â So for $16, everyone was fat and happy, and they began scheming a plan to get out to Alachua and eat there in person. Â Yay! Â I love plays with happy endings.
Not sure what pizzeria Anna B. ate at, but I frequent Main Street a lot and they have the best service and food in the area. Friendly staff, very friendly oriented.
Judging by Anna's other reviews, she is either a 12 year old who likes to cuss while her parents aren't around or she has not idea what a good critic is.
If you're going to critique a place, at least make it a review that people can learn from. You're a great cook? I bet...obviously, you have the imagination of an infant with the mouth of a sailor, so I don't put much faith in your own cooking, considering your mouth is trash.
Hands down my favorite pie north of Ocala and south of Jacksonville!
They use excellent cheese & good pepperoni; despite being the king of pizza in the Gainesville/Alachua/Micanopy area it is not without its flaws.
First the sauce is canned, which should not be the kiss of death in and of itself, but without augmentation or the addition of much needed sugar the sauce is too far into the acidic side.
The greater sin, however, is the fact that the pies are started in the oven on a wire mesh grate! When I inquired as to the possibility of having the pizza hit the oven directly on the stone they said it could not be done. Although this seems like a minor detail I assure you that the resulting crust is far superior sans grate; and it's the details that separate higher starred establishments from lesser ones.
With the addition of a little sweetener to the sauce and either hiring a more experienced pizzaiolo or retraining the current one to not use grates this place would have 5 stars!
