Great neighborhood little pizza joint, from the many pizza unique pizza combos to the wine selection you can't go wrong. We are a fan of the twosome dinner special which is Bruschetta appetizer which they cut the tomatoes and make fresh when you order, a 14 inch pizza or 2 calzones plus a bottle of wine all for $35 add the live music on Fridays and it makes for a great date night!

$37 for a large pizza?  Pic of place at 7:45 but open til 9 wtf?  This pizza better be orgasmic.  Kids were nice but seriously?
Update: sicilian pan pizza undercooked.  Back in oven for 7 mins.  Very tasty but no way worth $37

Mangiamo is variable: from barely okay to very good to great.  Like tonight: great.  Crisp thin crust like in Roma, tangy sauce.  A bit arrabbiata, which I like.  Tonights six cosmopolitan eaters commented favorably on the taste and quality.

Some other times the sauce was semi-sweet and the crust flaccid, but hopefully you won't be there that night.

Tonight was a call-in, take-out order and everything worked.

A bit pricey, but the Sicilian pizza is great.  Make sure to tell the person on the phone to repeat what you ordered so you get the right type of pizza.  Garlic twists are delicious too.

Went on a Thursday night, looked like they were closing.  The nice boy behind the counter said they could make us something to go. Then, a glazed eyed kid comes out from the back and says they are out of cheese... Seriously, you are above a grocery store and an Italian restaurant. Lame.

If I could give a zero I would.  This review is strictly based on service because I didn't get to try the food.

Came by today at 7 for a quick bite to eat after shopping all day.  Walked in the door and was immediately turned away because they didn't have time to make us pizza before they closed at 8...which is still an hr away.  The place was empty!  Apparently phone orders take precedence over all else.  If management happens to read this, if you want to run a quality business, don't let your staff turn paying customers away.  Don't care how great this place is rated, won't return out of prinicple and will be telling family and friends to do the same.

We had our wedding rehearsal dinner here and it was AMAZING! We wanted something sort of casual, but also fun and  special. We met with the owner, and rented out the entire place. We had salads, appetizers, bottles of wine, pitchers of beer, and tons of pizza. Not to mention live music, an outside place for our children to run around, and a place for our families to unwind the night before the wedding. We have some friends who had JUST GOTTEN BACK from Italy, and they proclaimed  Mangiamos Pizza to be the MOST LIKE AUTHENTIC Italian Pizza that they have had back in America. Super yummy!! Love this place, and my husband and I still go back for dates and dinner all the time.

Closed at 8pm on a Thursday? Can't rate since I didn't get to try their food, but once I do they'll lose a star for their weird hours

I was pleased to find delivery pizza with vegan sauce and crust. Our pizza came on time, but with no sauce (which turns out was my mistake, however, since I specifically asked if sauce was vegan, I would expect to be told if I ordered a pizza with no sauce! I've never even heard of pizza without sauce). It was pretty good (better after I added sauce) but this place is pretty expensive.

First of all, it is a real stretch to call this place a wine bar. It is not. So do not go here for the wine as you will be very disaponted. They offer about 10 very average red and white wines by the glass in the range of $6 - $12 and none of them are unique. You can buy most of these wines at a local convenience store - I'm not kidding.  Furthermore, the red wines are not stored properly (they were served at room temp - warm) and are served in the same small white wine glasses where they fill them to the top!  Do I sound like a wine snob? Trust me, I am not but please do not market your establishment as a "pizza and wine bar"  when you clearly are not.

As for the pizza, it is OUTSTANDING!  I would definately return for the pizza. it is very, very good. The service is  average as is the ambiance, and they have live entertainment on weekends (usually some soft jazz or accoustic). If they just marketed themselves as a pizza joint I'd give it 4 stars but the fact that they choose to add that "wine bar" part to the name is, well, deceiving.

So, go for the pizza and entertainment but bring your own wine (and glass).

I cannot express how disappointed I am with Mangiamo's.  Their food is fine, but their service has been below one star in my opinion.

The second to last time I ordered from them, they refused to honor a coupon I had (no expiration anywhere on the coupon) because their new special was for less of a discount.  They also messed the order up (again).  I accepted it because I had guests and we needed food.  I decided to give them a yet another chance because I can be fair.  Their food is tasty - it's just nicer to eat what you actually ordered.  An hour and a half after I ordered my pizza, I finally called the restaurant to check on its status.  This time, they blatantly lied to me and said the delivery driver rang my door bell, called my phone, and waited for ten minutes at my door.  This did not happen.  Everyone knows that cell phones show a record of all calls received.  No such call.  I spoke to the manager who assured me that his driver did everything right.  No apologies, no offer of a free pizza.  If I wanted, however, I could drive down to their restaurant and pick up my old pizza.  Wow.  Thanks.

Decent pizza for sure. $25 for 18" combo.
Service was excellent 5/5, the two main down points for me was how greasy the pizza was, and that the dough, while being black and nearly burnt on the edges (delicious crust BTW) was slightly undercooked. It didn't pass the fork test, and as such had to be picked up and was ultra floppy. We all know floppy pizza is sloppy pizza. The ingredients were fresh, I'm not gonna count this place out yet.

I called up to ask how far out they deliver. Rene didn't know and passed me off to one of the drivers. He said they deliver as far as Buena Vista. I said we live just past that (Zils Rd. about 200 ft) and asked if they could come out. He then explained that Buena vista was stretching it for them and they would not deliver.
It's  a bummer for us because we haven't tried this restauant before. As someone who spent a great deal of her life working in the restaurant business  and considering the economy I am disappointed that they would not make an exception.  I will be making a follow up call tomorrow to ask if a manager would have made a different decission.

Outstanding. Thin crust is my favorite and their topping (meat included) are so fresh and amazing. Located upstairs above Deluxe Foods in Deer Park, this is a wonderful hidden little gem. I'd give it 5 stars, but it is a bit on the spendy side - yet worth every penny.

Omg! Omg! Best pizza in the world!! I am so obsessed with this pizza I have dreams about it. Break your low carb diet for this place!

My boyfriend and I go here all of the time to get the dinner special. It includes a house bottle of wine, bruschetta, and a large pizza. We usually get half meat lovers for him and I get my half the pesto with ricotta cream dollops on top.

I SWEAR by the pesto pizza. It is so delicious!!! It has fresh green pesto on a thin perfect crust with huge dollops of ricotta. I have dreams about this pizza.

Definitely visit Mangiamos!!!! It's the best pizza possibly anywhere in America.

While we live in the area, and often shop at Delux for our dinners, we've never known the source of the live music coming from the upper-shopping area.  Last night, we discovered that it comes from Mangiamo's, where they have live music a few nights a week.

The place is small, but clean, and we found the service to be very friendly and amicable.  The pizza was well better than "good", but nothing life-altering.  Still, I'd eat it again without hesitation.

The real prize with Mangiamo's is the live entertainment.  It's a fun alternative to going to a bar for music, and proved to be a very enjoyable evening.  Additionally, there was an awkward man performing walking around performing magic tricks for the patrons.  While he's no pro, he's still better than Gob Bluth, although not by much.  It was a pleasant experience.

In summary-- good food, a nice menu to choose from.  Prices are a little high, but it won't break the bank.  The place is small, but clean, and the staff was friendly.  I can't speak for the performances on other nights, but last night it was a lot of fun.

I am a sick man. No, not in that way, I just haven't been feeling good the last few days. Haven't felt like shopping for food, haven't felt like cooking. Hence, I decided to stop by here for lunch today. Nothing sounded good for lunch but when I saw the cheese pizza looking up at me all warm and doughy and puffy and just glowing with sizzling expectation, I couldn't resist. Dude at the counter was super cool, gave me a student discount, some ranch, and a smile. My first bite was simply scrumptious. By the time I finished slice numero uno I am feeling much better already, and I still have one glorious slice to go. Thank you cheese pizza, I may just make it through today.

The house wine is some of the best I've tasted and Wednesday night you can get a bottle for $10! Wednesday night there's also a great blues singer. His name is Dave Campbell and he's there every Wednesday. AND the pizza is terrific. What a great little place to hang out and get top notch service, food, drink AND music! Inside or outside.

I'm revising this review to note that Mangiamo's has expanded their live music. Now they have folks playing 6 nights a week. I think it's the only place in Aptos that can claim such a thing.

Mon-Thurs from 6-8 boasts David Paul Campbell. A pro touring and session guitar player who moved from LA to Santa Cruz in 2007 for the surfing and KPIG. He plays blues and jazz, Celtic and jug band stuff and whatever comes to mind. He also takes requests. It's a great way to spend the dinner hour. He also plays some Friday nights so check the online calendars in Santa Cruz Weekly and places like that because Mangiamo's lists their acts in all of them in Santa Crux and San Jose.

Friday night you get George Christos from 6-9 PM. A local guy playing everything from James Taylor to The Eagles with a fine helping of The Beatles tossed in for good measure.

Saturday night is for jazz fans and Roberto-Howell is there playing some straight ahead jazz that makes for a wonderful Saturday Date Night.

The place is family friendly and the prices are reasonable and the house wine is still top of the line. The pizza is just grand and if you prefer you can request their sweet sauce - thought that spicy stuff just rocks, IMO. They've added some desserts and coffee too.

And if you're too tied up to get out, they'll deliver to the house. But if you do that, you don't get the music. They're open Sunday but it's food and drink only. No music is available during that time.

Hands down BEST cheese pizza in Aptos or Santa Cruz.
Im sorry but im not a fan of pizza my heart or pleasure pizza, lame dough and poor ratio!
I get Mangiamos delivered, a large is about $24, so same price as the other two but sooooo much better!
Amazing dough and good sauce to cheese ratio. The only downside is sometimes delivery can take upwards of 45min. I have never been in the place its self, but they must be packed!
Ill be ordering again, and maybe stop in!

When a craving for a calzone occurs, we yelped and found this little treasure hidden in the Deluxe shopping center. Not as I remembered it from a few years ago (this is a good thing..)!!

We had a delicious (and well-proportioned) starter salad (with fresh and delicious veggies), a great individual-sized pizza...the hubs had the long awaited calzone. The calzone had a stuffed-crust along the edges, delicious dough, fresh ingredients inside and not greasy- a total winner!! Not to mention the pizza (we ordered the Pollo Spinaci) was awesome.

It's a small place, but you still have your space- even with a couple of people on both sides, we didn't feel squished. All this with a clean, quiet atmosphere, a totally helpful yet stealth waiter, and the Giants game on silent on the flat screens made for a great night out.

I was excited to try a real authentic pizzeria since there are none along Highway 1 from Santa Cruz to Monterey.

    What a dissapointment.

The pizza was the correct "thickness", but the flavor was way below sub-par, the toppings were not high quality, and the crust had a cornmeal crumb dusting that made it taste "cheap".

Good prices on the drinks, however (fair and not inflated).

We had Ceasar side salads, and the lettuce was wilty. The dressing was great, however.

We had to wait about 45 minutes to get our Pizza, and I knew something was up when I smelled something burning. I looked over at the kitchen, and the chef was standing over our pie looking at it as it smoked away in a black burned mess.

They finally got our order out, and tried to be very polite about the situation (which was appreciated).

Overall, the quality is just not very good, and for $28 I expected more from a half cheese and half margharita pie..... disappointed.

If you want dim lighting, wine, pizza, magic, music, and sports, then this is the place you should come. Mangiamos has some amazing thin crust pizza with some toppings and names you would never knew that make your tastes buds dance. My favorite pizza is the Stromboli, i also really like the garden party with no mushrooms or the mangiamos all meat pizza, I come here at least once a week and I swear it gets better and better every time i come.

We typically get delivery, usually combo - nothing exotic.  Definitely our favorite pizza in the area, just a little pricey for our once a week pizza fix.  Also have dropped by after school with daughter for a slice - excellent! Mangiamo's serves your basic East Coast thin slice pizza which is the best in my book!!  They also recently started serving small serving pizzas for kids.  Also will be trying their Pizza Beach Delivery this summer!!

We feel lucky to have found this place. We have lived in the area for 5 years and never tried it before. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the pizza was really friggin good!
We are Pizza my Heart snobs when it comes to good pies but Mangiamo's may steal some of that passion. Really creative and delicious pizzas, price is definitely reasonable, service is great and the restaurant is cozy.
Give them a shot if you haven't yet!

This is a long over do review. I had a coupon for 2 pizzas for $22. Got them for a poker game I had. 2 combos. I have to say one of the WORST pizzas I've had. The people who like this pizza need to try more pizza. They were really thin and actually tasted a little bit like cardboard. I don't like giving bad reviews to local businesses but when you have a great pizza place like Aptos Pizza just a few miles away, its a no brainer. Honestly I don't know how this place stays in business. Don't think it will last much longer, not with so many options in the area

I probably should have reviewed this place months ago, but the pizza didn't really stand out in my memory.  Especially when you've had pizzas that are truly so much better.  I suppose that since they are also a wine bar, the pizza must take a backseat position in the whole scheme of things here.  The restaurant space is extremely small and kind of boring.

I tried the house combo pizza which was extremely thing and seemed to be lacking ingredients for the price paid.  It is in a coastal town which can explain the higher prices... but is that an excuse for mediocre pizza???  Yeah probably I suppose, I can't remember the last time I had great pizza in a small coastal town.

Now, I can see why some are unhappy with the thin crust, and yes the prices are quite high, but I still drive all the way from Santa Cruz in bumper-to-bumper traffic...  Not because I'm crazy, or dumb, but because the pizza from Maniamo's is truly different.  First of all, the pizza isn't gross, and cardboard-like.  Actually, the sauce is quite spicy, and the thin crust is great for NOT making you feel bloated like a Thanksgiving Day Parade Balloon, 20 minutes after eating it.  Best of all, they have wine!!!  Perhaps it's cheaper to buy a bottle elsewhere, but they actually have decent wine there, and wine goes better with their pizza than beer (shocking I know!!)

We used to go to the one on the Westside all the time, but I suppose rent got to be too high with the planned remodel of that Safeway.  When they packed up and moved to the Aptos location, we were bummed, but drove anyway.  Would be great if they would eventually open a place in mid-town.

They used to remember us by name, as we were the people who came in for what we deemed "crack-pizza".  He loved that we came all the way from Santa Cruz, and I think he knew we were true fans, so he often gave us discounts.

If you want a $10 pizza, this is not the place for you.  Give Dominos a call instead.  If you want a thick crust, order a Deep Dish pizza from another place (like BJs, but wait this is Santa Cruz, and we don't let corporations, or franchises over here).  But if you want truly good pizza, that isn't run-of-the-mill, come on down.  Just remember to bring many American Dollars with you.

Mangiamo's pizza was the next best eatery place closest to our beach, we were planning on getting the roasted chicken in the near by grocery store but we went ahead and got the pizza instead.

The slices are  big, the toppings are very tasty and the flavors come together quite well. We had Meatlovers and Chkn BBq. The meatlovers was greasy (what do you expect?) and the chkn bbq pizza was damn good! Sweet/tangy sauces and the crispy thin crust added to the overall great tastes of both pizzas.

Drop by when yr craving pizza and it'll definitely hit THAT spot!

    happy eating!

Selling be the slice is awesome.

They offer two crusts here: thick (square) and thin.  Stay away from the thin if you order out -- by the time you get home, wash your hands, et cetera, it will have cooled off and be pretty meh.

Eating at the restaurant, both slices are pretty good.  I've found the thinker ones to be better, in general - thin crust ends up with too much pockets of air and burnt spots, converging on the desperate matzo-pizza taste.  The thick slices have great dough to them, and the toppings are good - i like the pesto feta.  BBQ chicken is a little too sweet for my taste, some more heat would have been appreciated.

Cheapest place to grab a bite in deer park by a mile.

Ordered a combo calzone and salad for delivery.. when it showed up it was a lot smaller then one would have thought a $13 calzone would be. It wouldnt be a personal size in some places i have gone before. I also am alergic to tomatoes and asked for White sauce on the side, it showed up with red sauce. We also ordered a Greek Salad. It also is way too small to pay over $6 for. Do no go do not try this place. you will be disapointed fully and wish you didnt spend over $20 on something that didnt fill you up. when was the last time you can say that about any itailan / pizza place?

The pizzas are ok if you like thick crusts.  The salads are ok and so is the service.  It's nothing special.  This isn't a place that I plan on avoiding but I probably won't be back either because there are several other places in Aptos with better product.

I stopped here with a friend from Aptos for a snack before dinner.  The pizza was delicious! I had the pesto chicken (a creation that the guy behind the counter had come up with) and my friend had the pepperoni, simple yet a classic.  The decor is comfortable, the guys working were super friendly, and there is even place for live music on the weekends!  Good beer and wine selection, perfect for a date or a drink with girlfriends.

I got pizza to go here.  We got a large combo and a large pepperoni. . .both
of which, due to a special, came with a free small cheese pizza. Good thing, because they were damned expensive.

They were very good though. . . thin tender crust, right amount of good quality stuff on top.
I'd be on the fence about going again if I just wanted take-out pizza for kids -  $55 for two large pizzas is more than I'm used to paying.

Tucked back in the Deer Park shopping center - which I like, but the ambiance in there didn't make me feel like I'd want to linger in there drinking wine, as they seem to want you to do. Too small, TV reflected in a mirror covered wall. . it was a weird mix of dark wood, sports bar, wine cellar and sub shop, all in a 15X15 room.

If they keep running the free sm cheese pizza with any large pizza special, I'd go back to make the offspring happy.

Last night I went in to pick up two pizzas for my kids and their friends who were here visiting. My husband and I LOVE pizza and have been big fans of a few other places in the area but thought we'd give Mangiamo's a try (we walked in a couple of weeks ago and walked out as no one greated us for several minutes even though we were the only ones standing there).
Anyhow, we rated the pizza as the worst we have ever had - the Sicilian was not thick at all and had very little anything on it AND was small for an 18 inch. The plain cheese also had very little sauce and the cheese was tasteless. Also, the cost of the special pizza and a cheese was $50 (no drinks or sides) which was just too expensive. We don't mind paying if the pizza is good, but that was not the case here. I signed up on this site just to save a few other pizza lovers their money and time - there are too many other great choices around.

A friend of mine just moved to Aptos about a week ago and this place is walking distance to her house. We ended up going there on a saturday night and there were quite a few people in there. They also had a guy set up with his guitar singing Beatles songs and enjoying himself.

We ended up just getting takeout but there were a number of people in the place that were sitting down and having wine from their little wine bar. I'd love to go back and hang out there one night and order a bottle as well.

The pizza is fucking great here. We ended up getting the pesto pizza. It smelled amazing right from the get go and had fat slices as well. That's a plus in my book. You can decide between thick or thin crust and we opted for the thin. It also came with huge dollops of creamy mozzarella cheese. Hell. Yes.

I was told by a friend that they order all of their meats from Italy and only use organic veggies too. That's a real big deal coming from a pizza place. I wish I had one that was closer to my house but I'm definitely coming back when I visit my friend.

One of the best/ worst parts about traveling for youth sports is checking out the neighborhood eats.

Unlike our soccer game that day, we scored big time in Aptos!

The Aptos soccer parents were friendly, always a plus, so  I asked if there was a local pizza place to take the kids.  We were told to check out Pizza Amore and given directions.  OK so this is the real test to see just how friendly they are. Well - Aptos soccer parents did us right!  Very cool

Pizza Amore is now Mangiamo's.  OK - well, we were there and hungry, oh yeah and there is a wine bar and my husband was driving so....why not!

The facility is a little small so I had some hesitation walking in with four boys, aged ranging from 10 - 15.  We were warmly welcomed!  ++

We were given menus and selected a pizza. We also ordered a Greek salad. I also treated myself to a glass of the Sangiovese.  Excellent choices!
The salad was served with the dressing on the side and was wonderful. Lots of spinach, red onion, feta etc.

The pizza was excellent.  We ordered a half cheese and BBQ Chicken.  BBQ Chicken is typically not one of favorites because many places smother the pizza so all you tasted was the BBQ Sauce.  Not Mangiamo's it was yummy!   I would absolutely order again

I really enjoyed my glass of Sangiovese - my only regret was I failed to to note the bottle.  I would love to purchase some for home.

The food is more expensive than the pizza chains however is is significantly superior.

Can't wait for our next game in Aptos!  I know where we'll be eating!!

I came to this place thinking I would find Pizza Amore, but it was gone! Well, I was craving pizza so I went anyway.

The location is totally remodeled with a very classy look. My husband and I showed up in t-shirts and jeans and felt a little under dressed. A man welcomed us in warmly anyway, haha.

The place looked very clean, which I like. If you read some of my other reviews you'll see what a germophobe I am. I saw something right away that made me happy-- a piece of paper pinned up warning the cooks not to use tomatoes unless they're baked on a pizza. That let me know that the management was cognizant of the recent problem with tomatoes and concerned about keeping things clean and safe.

I did not try any of the wines, so I can't review the wine aspect of the restaurant, but the pizza was truly wonderful. My husband and I split a 14" thin crust 1/2 garlic chicken 1/2 veggie (called "garden party") pizza. It was a bit of a wait, which was unfortunate because I was already starving, but when we did get our pizza it was beautiful. The very outer edge of the crust was burnt which was kind of a bummer, but other than that it was great. We also split a slice of the New York cheese cake, which was pretty good.

The service was friendly. A man, who appeared to be the manager I guess, checked up on us and asked us how it was but wasn't annoying, which I also can't stand. This is a bit of a "higher end" pizza place. The price was more than Pizza Amore, but the pizza + the atmosphere was excellent and worth it.
