Not quite sure why this restaurant is not more beloved; if you sit in the sun room in the Wallace Neff designed building you will have a sensational view but it only starts there because the food and the service is excellent. We loved the presentation and taste of their beet and fig salad and their grass fed dry aged steak was perfectly prepared and a bargain at $42. This is a beautiful place to dine.
Review Source:I think Maravilla deserves 4.5 stars, 5 stars for service and 4 stars for food.
We came here to celebrate our anniversary while staying at the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa. They had made a note that it was our anniversary and had spread rose petals on our table. Our waiter also made sure to wish us a happy anniversary and bought us a complementary glasses of champagne as soon as we were seated.
Overall, the service was excellent from start to finish. The food was good, but not amazing especially for the price. Before dinner we a drink at the bar and received excellent service there as well.
Stopped in here one night just for drinks so this review is only based on bar service. Very laid back atmosphere, got to know the waiters a bit since no one else was in there. Â I had the Pink Moment cocktail...sublime! Â Not sure I would have paid $16 for it though - we happened to have a two drink package as part of a hotel deal.
Review Source:We celebrated our 43 anniversary at the Maravilla Restaurant at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa. To say it was perfect would be an injustice. It was better than perfect, made so by our hostess who was lovely, our server - Fabiosa - who was spectacular, a support staff that was perhaps the best trained I've ever experienced and food that was as close to perfect as food can be.
It was a perfect meal and a wonderful experience! Treat yourself... It's worth it and you probably deserve it!
My wife, Wendy, and I spent the 1st evening of our honeymoon at Maravilla. Â When we arrived and were seated, they had a table specially prepared for us in honor of celebrating our honeymoon. Â The food was excellent. Â Wendy had the prawns, which were incredible. Â They were served in a chorizo sauce. Â Wow! Â The ambience was excellent and the service was very attentive. Â We would definitely recommend it.
Review Source:We were staying at the hotel and had a top-notch experience from start to finish there. Usually I avoid hotel restaurants as they're usually over-priced and not very good, but took a risk here. overall, it was a good experience.
Service was excellent - everyone who came to our table was professional and friendly and we were truly taken care of the whole night. The space is lovely, great view outside and intimate atmosphere.
I would say the food was 4-star - everything was good, no complaints, but nothing was amazing either. My husband ordered the caprese salad, which is more of a take on it, more lettuce, very fresh tomatoes, instead of just cheese and tomatoes. I ordered the asparagus salad, which was really fresh as well. For his main, he had the steak, it was cooked perfectly and while it wasn't the best he had, it was sold. I enjoyed my black cod over a spinach broth.
I would recommend the restaurant for the overall experience and as I'm sure we'll be back to the hotel, we'll probably eat here again.
Although the views outside are to die for, the cuisine just isn't! Just wanted something light, aftr dropping $500 on my spa adventure, yikes. I felt like a pampering weekend. So much potential here, decor, ambiance, menu.... then blah...?I guess tagliatelle in  lemon broth is a old Italian favorite, no sauce here? What were they trying to to achieve? and it was not busy this Super Moon night. Watery sauce and overly peppered lemon burn. The only emotion I got out of this was  "we dont care" ...don't bother. Even the asparagus starter was overcooked....pity.
Review Source:Didn't have res, so ate in the bar.
Food isn't free and was marginal for the price: veggie ravioli that was yummy and halibut and gnarled mussels that were blah.
Tried the flight of three local wines and was reminded why I don't drink Ojai wine.
Has a glass of Greg Norman Pinot in the pub on the property that was delicious in comparison, was $7 less, and came with house made truffle potato chips.
Ambiance in the pub was casual with a pair of spa patrons still in their robes.
My husband and I stayed at Ojai Valley resort and Inn for Christmas weekend. Â We had Christmas eve dinner at Maravilla since it was the only "upscale" restaurant around. Â We had tomato salad and prawns for appetizers. Â They were flavorful and delicious. Â Tomato was fresh and had an earthy taste. Â For dinner, I got the short rib. Â The portion was quite large but it feel short in the flavor department. Â Also, the risotto that came with it was undercooked and bland. Â My husband had the pork and he cleaned his plate. Â We ordered their famous bread pudding and it was quite disappointing. Â It was so dry we had to ask for extra sauce. Â Overall, the ambiance was nice and service great hence the four stars. Â Dinner for two with wine came out to about $150
Review Source:I was really hoping that the food would be better than what the others have said. TripAdvisor had some more positive reviews, so we gave it a try on a Saturday night. I ordered the braised short rib, and while it fell off the bone and was tender, it lacked flavor. The squash risotto that accompanied it also lacked flavor. My husband ordered the halibut and he said it was just alright. It's unfortunate that this beautiful resort lacks a quality restaurant. If we return, we're definitely going to plan our meals in town, as opposed to at the resort. It's too bad because for the price you pay to stay, you would think there would be better tasting food so that you wouldn't have to take the time to walk or drive to town, which is about 5 miles away.
Review Source:Our group dined outside on the Maravilla patio, which was lovely. Â I ordered the trout, which was nicely crispy but over seasoned. Â Portions are a little on the small side. Â Dessert was the chocolate cake, which was pretty good. Â Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience but nothing to write home about.
Review Source:This was our first stay at the Ojai Inn & Spa. We had a really positive experience with all the staff at the resort. Â The Maravilla was very romantic, whether you sat out on the deck overlooking the amazing view of the hills, the inside, with cozy fireplaces, or the deck facing the golf course. The staff was extraordinary and the food delicious and unique. The adjoining bar was cozy and comfortable. Â My husband and I plan to return.
