Mariners Landing isn't terrible, but doesn't come close to justifying the $240/night. It's clean and the rooms are decent, but a few of my complaints include:
    - the restaurant is closed
    - the pool and jacuzzi close early. Forget about an evening hot tub
    - they don't often pick up their phone and don't return calls
    - there is no wifi, though there was one DSL link
    - the TVs, appliances etc. are minimally 10 years old. No HDTV
    - no maid service
We were there from July 27-31 2013. I thought it was the high season, but the place wasn't more than 20% full No big surprise.

The bad reviews were accurate and the restaurant has been closed for several months.  The owners of the development, including the restaurant, have filed bankruptcy.

The rental accommodations are hideously ugly, sterile and now (not surprisingly) in bankruptcy protection.  That's ok, though, because it's really expensive.  The good news is that there are always vacancies...

mariners makes promises they can't deliver! They nickel and dime you for events and treat customers poorly. My wedding was held here and if it weren't for the vendors (Corsair and Magnifico) i chose and my family and friends, this would have been a nightmare. They switched the wedding planner six months prior to my wedding and gave little to no power to that planner. There was poor communication and at my rehearsal there was fighting and crying between the venue and the planner. The big issue was the planner which was hired outside of the venue. Even during the ceremony and reception things were missing and no one seemed to communicate to ensure everything was in place for this event. My parents paid for an extra hour of partying and drinks to allow for the bouquet and garter toss (something I would expect the planner to ensure happens in the amount of time allotted) and as soon as the event was over, my father was bombarded to pay for the additional hour (he was staying in the hotel that evening). Mariners has poor accounting and customer service. They knew all the things that went wrong and made no effort to provide any type of compensation for the screw ups. Cutting corners as much as possible and providing a honeymoon suite that was nothing more than a two bedroom condo (which my maid of honor had to pay a nice cleaning lady to straighten after my bridesmaids used the same room to get ready). I doubt I will ever go back here. I would have expected more for the price we paid.

Service is very slow.  The last time we were there, they billed our credit card five times (by accident).  They did refund the mistakes.

Food is OK and if you're on the Bedford Co. side of the lake, this is an OK place.  However, with the opening of Downtown Moneta and the restaurants there, you now have a better choice of places to go.

Now called Benjamins.  Not great, not terrible.  The service is slow, but some people like this since they are on vacation.   It's a better choice at SML but wouldn't be a top choice at home.
