this place is such a pleasant surprise... the food, service & overall experience is excellent! the owner is so friendly & sweet. I was in town on a walgreens conversion training program, & the owner even came out & had a little chat with my staff & I... love everything on the menu... the sweet tea, the caramel cake, the Santa Fe chicken sandwich.... had an awesome time ... thank you Market Cafe

The restaurant is in the old Blon Harris hardware store building, which has been nicely restored, with its original tin ceiling.

Four of us went there for lunch. I had the Black-n-Blue Steak Salad, which was excellent. My wife had the plate lunch, which consisted of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, rolls, black-eyed peas and collard greens. She liked all of it, especially the rolls, except that the peas and greens were mysteriously sweet. My mom had the crab cake sandwich, which had too much bread for her taste, but she liked the crab cake. My dad had a raspberry chicken salad, which was a favorite of his, and which he enjoyed.

All in all, a very good meal, and we definitely will be back the next time we visit Louisville.
