My fiancee and I met the owner this past New Year's Eve. We had a few drinks but didn't try the food as the kitchen was already closed when we arrived. Fast forward to the middle of April... We decided to stop in after my fiancee had a very hectic Friday. We were ushered to a table in the back by a very rude waitress. We ordered two glasses of Guinness. We waited, and waited, and waited... The waitress informed us that it was very busy at the bar. (Apparently, OUR patronage wasn't as important as the locals' sitting at the bar?) We waited some more... Another group of patrons were seated and their orders taken... Still no drinks! Not even an offer of water? Finally, the "waitress" comes back and informs us that a keg needs to be changed...
10 more minutes go by and the BARTENDER brings us each a half glass of Guinness and informs us that that was the last of the Guinness! (Who runs out of Guinness on a Friday night? Really?) She said the half drinks were on the house and asked if we would like something else instead.
Meanwhile, the "waitress" finally makes her way back to our table after seating yet another group of patrons and taking their orders... She asked us what we would like. So, we gave her our order of mozz sticks, cheddar and bacon potato skins, a cup of chili, and a bowl of baked onion soup
After another 10 minutes or so, our food arrived. Mozz sticks were ok. We've had better...
Potato skins were on the WELL DONE side. They weren't very good...
My chili was hot but didn't really have any flavor to it...
My fiancee took one bite of her onion soup and wanted to spit it out. I took a spoonful and it tasted like hot water with an entire container of Morton's salt dumped into it!
Frustrated, my fiancee took a bite of my garlic bread that came with my chili. She wanted to spit that out too! I took a bite and it tasted awful! (How does one screw up garlic bread?!) Methinks that the cook's experience in the kitchen amounts to heating up microwave dinners...
The moral of this story is: If you are looking for some good pub food, YOU WON'T find it at Maxwell's Pub!
If you are looking for courteous service, YOU WON'T find it at Maxwell's Pub!
We lived, we learned, wasted hard earned money, and will NEVER return here again!
Some people seem to forget that without the paying customer, the doors would close...

Great downtown spot with rustic charm and ambiance. My mom recommended this place and she really picked a gem. Good beer selection (tap and bottle) with fair prices. Generous lunch portions and appealing specials. Haven't had dinner here yet but liked what I saw.

I had the steak pizziola, which is basically a pizza cheesesteak. It was excellent, and the house-roasted beef is featured in several other sandwiches.  Others had sandwiches and were happy and well fed. They offer regular, curly or sweet potato fries; our table tried all three and they're all tasty.

The dining room features lots of Beatles paraphernalia, including a silver hammer (BANG BANG!  It's Maxwell...hahaha!) and some vintagey posters. There was some Springsteen on the jukebox (always a plus). And there's a good mix of Yankees and Red Sox decorations. Though I cry foul that the autographed pics in the men's room are of Carl Yastrzemski and Mickey......Rivers? Mickey Rivers? Guess Maxwell's really a Sox fan.

My dad also liked this place, enough to tell me I should write about it for the dog website.

    "The dog website?"

"Yeah, the dog website. Bark? With all the restaurant reviews?"

    "You mean Yelp?"

"Yeah! Yelp! I knew it was something with a dog."

OK, then, Dad. Here it is.
