  This place is close to home so we go pretty often.  I was debating between 3 and 4 stars but the description of "A-OK" is pretty accurate.  The food is decent bar food.  Nothing to write home about but not bad.  Their battered fish is good.  Inside needs a little updating (please get new bar stools Maxx!).  Service is good most of the time.  Their drink selections aren't too bad for Ham Lake.

  My review will solely be based on my drinks and the service from the bartender as I was FAR too hungover to actually consume solid food.
  
  Kyle and I had to meet up with the father unit and as he lives in St. Francis and we live in South Minneapolis we chose a place a little closer to him, but still not way the heck out in the middle of nowhere to meet. We also all agreed there had to be booze there as it had been one of those nights, and was a suffering morning.
  
  We pulled up a stool to the bar and ordered, I was the smart one and got myself a Bloody Mary made with Pappar, with a finger of Coors. I pretty much pounded the first one and greatly enjoyed the olive, pickle, and meat stick that they include in the drink.
  
  Here's where it gets kind of... bad.
  I ordered my second Bloody Mary and the bartender (friendly though she was) hurriedly made it and didn't include an olive, pickle, meat stick, or my finger of beer. When I asked her about it she said she would just knock off $1.50 rather than just reaching behind her and grabbing them out of the little plastic holders on the bar... I mean seriously, I could have just reached across the bar and thrown them in my cocktail myself if they wouldn't throw me out for doing that.
  
  The meat raffle was a nice touch, but this definitely isn't somewhere that I would go back too unless I somehow heard about a gourmet food they are serving, which doesn't seem very likely.

  We stopped by Maxx for breakfast on Sunday and it's your typical greasy spoon. The service was excellent, the atmosphere is nothing special.
  
  The breakfast menu consists of the usual suspects: omelets, pancakes, french toast and your basic egg dishes. I decided to order the breakfast sandwich with scrambled egg, ham, and American cheese on an English muffin. The sandwich was good, but it seemed really greasy. The portions are generous. I couldn't eat my whole sandwich and barely made a dent in the hashbrowns.
  
  I can't attest for the other items on the menu, but the people I dined with really enjoyed their omelets and breakfast scrambles. The pancakes are nothing special.

  we went here to see a band called Ovation play the music of Prince! the band was Great ,the bar was cool with good food I had a Burger that was huge and tasted real good seen a guy with a porterhouse that had to be 3 lbs it was 2" thick and as big as the plate and even looked good next trip i guess I think it's a good bar with good bar food and I will go back again!

  Visited here today during the Vikings game. They had good drink specials $2 taps, 2-4-1s and free pizza at half time.
  
  BF and I shared a nacho and a bacon cheeseburger. The nacho wasn't very good, though I find restaurant versions rarely are - never enough cheese and too many toppingless chips. Burger was ok, tasted fine but it was a pre-made patty (my burger nemesis!)
  
  Go for the food and drink specials, the meat raffles and bar bingo.
