I actually really liked this place which I can't say for a lot of the bars around Tahoe. The beers were great and at a fair price, the service was friendly and attentive, and there was some excellent, albeit loud, live music when we were there. Great way to meet some locals.

What a great place with an awesome beer selection and tasty food.  Might i recommend the pretzel and a pesto turkey sandwich. Love this place.

40 Outstanding craft beers on the wall...... Kristi knows more about beer than anyone I've ever met. Staff is "tops'.

A must visit when on the North Shore of Tahoe & coming SOON to TRUCKEE,CA.

We found you guys by total accident on a trip through Tahoe. We had hoped to hike, but it was too snowy, and if four years in Chicago has taught me anything, it's that too much snow means it's drinking time.

I have never seen such an eclectic and spot on selection of beers. I wish I could remember what that one sour I had was, because it was the best sour I've ever had. Their game sausages are locally made and ever so delicious. The patrons are sweet and enthusiastic about the joint. The bartender we had was friendly and informative and a total sweetheart. I would go back in a heartbeat if I could.

Outstanding curated selection of 40 beers on tap.  The bonus:
    - They let you taste a few beers to help narrow the decision making process.
    - Good happy hour deals
    - Very good vibe.  The patrons like to talk about beer as much as the owners.
    - They have one nitro tap for a stout.
    - For those of us not used to the altitude: for the beers that normally come in full pints, you can get a 1/2 pint for $2 less.

They grill up game sausage from Village Meats in Incline Village: <a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mellow-fellow-crystal-bay-2?select=7Yx_EP3QRD6Pa8_KxiPKxA#WxbtyNk1rClLb6QaX9PrvA">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>
The Venison and the Elk were both great.  They also had Jalapeno/Cheese.

The only thing I don't recommend: the warm giant soft pretzel: it's regular bread in the shape of a pretzel: <a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mellow-fellow-crystal-bay-2?select=7Yx_EP3QRD6Pa8_KxiPKxA#ZvpVMzrECzC9ul_4o-QhgQ">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>

Beer selection here is awesome. A+ for that. I'm not from the area but my friends and I were in town and looking for a place to watch some NCAA tourney games and I'm so glad we came here. The barista was so great - super friendly, patient, and accommodating even though we were a huge, indecisive group. She even let us all try our beer before pouring us a whole pint. They also had no problem switching channels to the UCLA game for us (our alma mater!). We also ordered a sausage platter - I can't remember which meats we had but they were all different meats you wouldn't get anywhere else (bison, elk, ect). If you're in the area and looking for a chill place to hangout and grab a beer you gotta come here!

Friendly barkeep took my weird preferences (stout, ciders, lambics) and put together a nice sampler of a pear cider, a beer that was fermented with dates (?), the Campfire Stout that tasted like a smore, and a Flemish Red with a sour flavor.  They all tasted great alongside my Jalapeno Jack Bockwurst with spicy mustard.

Boys 5 and 8 were happy playing Pictionary, Jumbo Jenga (played with 2x4s), and Cornhole (bean bag toss).  They weren't thrilled about the cheese on their sandwiches (Grilled Cheese / Turkey) as it had kind of a gouda/Velveeta-ish flavor/texture.  So yeah, maybe switch to something less fancy for the kids?  (Actually I wasn't thrilled with it either.)  They didn't mind eating chips/cheddar popcorn instead of fries.

    Oh and to "balance" the meal how about sliced apples with caramel dipping sauce?  Sure.  :-}

I agree that hamburgers would be a nice addition. If you're going to call yourself a gastropub, it'd be good to expand the gastro- part, since you clearly have the pub part dialed.

As others note, the place has a great chill local vibe, but the locals were cool to these frequent out-of-towners.

Got the turkey cranberry apple curry mayo sandwich...like Turkey day all over again and so delicious.  Don't love that the bread is toasted because it tears up the roof of my mouth, so next time I'll ask for un-toasted.  Love the laid back atmosphere and obviously a healthy selection of beers for those that drink, which I don't, so I like the selection of sodas.  It's awesome to have a good food option up at the casinos...only wish they were open all night so I wouldn't ever have to debate a corn dog at the nugget at 4am.

Everything is good at Mellow Fellow's

Mellow Fellow wins major points in my book for being one of a few bars on the North Shore to actively court locals instead of just out-of-towners. With Trivia Tuesdays, charitable Wednesdays (a portion of proceeds goes to local good causes), and inventive game nights like Connect Four and classic Nintendo tourneys, there's almost always a good reason to stop by the Fellow.

The staff is above-and-beyond approachable and knowledgeable, too. Don't be intimidated by the impressive row of ever-changing taps; the bartenders are more than happy to counsel you and give you a taste to help you make up your mind. And don't forget to ask for your locals discount!

An assortment of board games and comfy couches encourage lingering over a pint or two. In my mind, there's no better après ski destination (even though the closest resort is a 20-minute drive).

The food is not fantastic, though the cheese platter is decent. But I'm happy to overlook that one caveat just for the pleasure of having a place where I want to be a regular.

A fantastic bar. Very chill, friendly place with top-notch brews (and a lot of them at that!) at very reasonable prices. A lot of local flavor here. Also they serve delicious homemade sausages! We had pheasant sausage with the most AMAZING homemade honey-mustard I have ever had (and I don't even like mustard--that's how good it is!). Bottom line, drink here!

Ambiance: Came on MLK weekend. Super chill spot to drink amazing beers and chat with knowledgeable bartenders that can recommend a beer you are looking for based on your preferences.

Food: I thought the sausages and chips hit the spot and didn't make me feel overly greasy or stuffed, which was what I was hoping for. If you're not in the mood for sausages, maybe check out the other options before relying on getting food here.

Beer: Very well rounded in their choices of beers, from Double IPAs to barrel aged beers to tasty light beers. They have some standard taps, but the uncommon, special taps are what made me feel warm and fuzzy about this place.

You can get Sierra Nevada PA and Lagunitas IPA anywhere close to here, and they are excellent beers, but if you're into trying meticulously chosen craft brews that aren't sold everywhere, I would definitely recommend coming here.

This place has got an awesome brew selection, however the food is lacking. I think I was expecting something more pretzel like with the pretzel buns and pretzels. The pretzels definitely lack the chewiness of a regular pretzel, it tastes more like bread with a slight pretzel taste, I mean it's good bread, but I think its misleading to call it a pretzel. The sausage selection is really unique, the venison I had was ok, I've had better.

But aside from the food, this place is really ideal for chilling with friends over some good microbrews. There's something different everytime and there's something for everyone. They have cornhole available as well as pub quiz on Tuesday evenings. The people who work here are awesome and friendly. I definitely love the vibe and love the drinks. $1 high life during football games, but really the other beers are so much better!

This place is AWESOME! When visiting my friends they took us to this joint and we had such a fun time! The beer list is so extensive and lots of great choices on tap. The food is also really good and also lots to choose from - different chip flavors and cheese. My husband got sausage and they cooked it right on the grill there - smelled delicious! I also love the beer patio - there is a huge Jenga set to play with and also a bag set - fun entertainment! Fun place to just chill and hangout :) The owners are super nice as well.

Another great place for the locals!

Beer selection is wonderful, food is fabulous and service is fantastic. The folks who ran the place knew their beer and were friendly. Definitely a place you want to visit with friends and try a couple of brews.

The extent of my time anywhere near the lake ended about 15 years ago. We may have lived four hours from some of the best skiing in the states, but we preferred to stay home.

Fast forward, I'm 26. I like to do grownup things, like drink good beer after going on a hike. Even better, I like eating venison sausages with honey mustard and sauerkraut while drinking said awesome beer, while getting the shit kicked out of me in what my boyfriend calls "cornholeing." I'm convinced he was just trolling me with a dirty word, but whatever.

When I'm back in Incline, you'll probably see me here. Also, if you know anyone at Russian River Brewery, tell them to give them all the Pliny because I'm sick and tired of driving to Oakland from Reno to get it.

    PS: Cornholeing. Heh.

We've been in 2 nights in a row. Mellow Fellow has been GREAT both times. The bartender does an excellent job. Not like some places where new people tend to stand around waiting for service while the bartender chats it up with the regulars. We had the same bartender both nights and she was very friendly yet very professional. And she really knew her beers.

Which brings me to my favorite part of the MF - 40 craft beers on draft. Yes! They had an excellent selection of mostly American micro-brews. They did have a few Euro imports on, as well. And the selection provided an excellent variety of styles. Ales, stouts, porters, pale ales, IPAs, barley wine, kolsch, seasonal (pumpkin), Belgian dubbel, and on and on.

And while you're drinking, they have several things to entertain you. They had a cornhole game setup out front in the beer garden area, plus a homemade Jenga set, made from 2x4s. And inside, a real boar bristle steeltip dartboard.

They do offer some pub food, too. My hot Italian sandwich was delicious.

AND.... they are very dog friendly! We had our dogs with us and kept them out with us in the beer garden when we were playing cornhole, and even had them in and lay down nearby when we were inside playing darts.

Finally, unlike many pubs of this size and style, the MF was clean! I don't know if they allow smoking or not. Being in CA, probably not. In the 2 nights we went, we never saw anybody smoking.

All in all, we loved the Mellow Fellow and look forward to going back any time we are back in the Tahoe City to King's Beach to Incline Village area.

This was the most fun I'd had at a bar in years.

Mellow Fellow is a totally laid back bar that feels like you're just hanging around someone's house. 40 types of beer and some food gives you plenty to work with, and the back patio is perfect in the summer.

I brought a group of guys through there for a bachelor party, and we had more fun than we did at the casinos. Oversized Jenga and a bean bag game kept us entertained as the $1 High Lifes kept us going strong. Plus there was a great staff that was very friendly and knowledgeable.

This is the perfect place for low-key North Shore, and I really hope they do well so I can return in the future.

Side note: Does the boarder run right through the building? If it does, they should point that out, like at the CalNeva, although I'd imagine it's hard to get a liquor license in two states...

Stopped in last night with a group of friends. I'm kind of a beer geek so I felt right at home here. The young lady that helped us was great and  knows her beer. She even gave my buddy a bad time because he is is a Newcastle fan, it was awesome. We drank a wide variety of beers and shared some very tasty grilled sausages, bison, elk, venison were all awesome. I highly recommend this place and will definitely go back next time I'm up that way.

This place is a lot of fun.  Awesome amount of beer on tap. First time I saw the taps, I knew I was in heaven.  Friendly staff who really know their stuff about beer. Hoping for TV's for football soon (Crossing fingers!)

I'm SO happy these guys are here! Great place to relax, have a beer, sandwich, chill with friends. The staff is so friendly and helpful. I'm hoping they expand the food menu, but what they do have is super yummy. And the extensive variety of excellent beer MORE than makes up for it.

p.s. I'm a recent convert - from wine to beer. My two cents - if you think you don't like beer, you're probably just missing out due to a lack of beer education. This is a great place to learn - tell 'em you're a newby and ask for a beer flight.

Friendly staff that knows their beer.  $10 beer flight is the way to go if the 40 taps are a bit overwhelming.  You can pick any four on tap.  Haven't tried the food but the beer is top notch.  Looking forward to going back the next time I'm in Tahoe.

Awesome local bar! Best selection of beer on the lake! Good food, good people and good prices. Definitely a place to stop into if you want to see what Tahoe is all about! The friendly inviting environment is set by the owners and carried on by the patrons.

So glad that we checked this place out. The staff is very knowledgable and friendly. The beer selection is truly world-class. We suggest getting a flight to experience some new-to-you brews. And locals are honored with a small discount. Very happy to have this addition the the stateline scene. Extremely close to Kings Beach and not far from Incline either!  Oh, almost forgot...  dog friendly too!

    These guys are AWESOME!

First, they are getting vegetarian sausage in as a menu option. They truly listen to their customers and care about your experience! Yay!

Second, they are so friendly. I've been here several times at this point, and they know me by name. They are always smiling, having a great time....and it's obvious they care about the beer.

Finally, the taps are EVER CHANGING. They got Dogfish Head Palo Santo on tap, and I about died. This week, they got a huge selection of Belgium beers, too.

Also, they now offer beer shots. Go inside and inquire ;)

Tasters: Four 5-oz tasters of any beer you want for $10!

My husband and I stopped in the other night to this new tap house and loved it!  It's about time someone added variety to stateline on the north shore. The beer selection was awesome and the owners were a wealth of knowledge and super friendly. There is ample seating both inside with big couches and tables or outside with picnic tables. They have a wide selection of games to play.  As of now no tv's but possibly one in the future...if so I know where I'm watching football. Awesome place to stop in and stay a while. Definitely stop in and check it out!

Stopped here wit the family on a Saturday afternoon.  Great beer selection, very nice folks behind the bar/counter, and I really hope this place makes it.  They had everything from a Shipyard Hefeweizen to a Mammoth Nut Brown Ale on tap, with lots of IPAs and other options on tap.  When I was there they didn't quite have 40 beers on tap but the selection was very good and so was the service.
The things that weren't so great was the extremely limited menu.  I personally didn't care about the dearth of vegetarian items but I do agree they need to get some salads and at least burgers on the menu.  Sausages can't be the only thing served.  But, I had the buffalo sausage and it was excellent.  The kids wanted burgers but settled for the 1/2 turkey sandwich.  They also wanted fries but had to settle for chips.
I really look forward to this place growing into its own and expanding the food menu and staying for a long, long time.  I highly recommend that you go patronize this place if you like having a great beer.
