Though the pizza is very flavorful, I can't bring myself to give this place any more than 2 stars, as my first (and only) experience with it was poor. Plus, the is crust a little chewy for my tastes and they waste WAY too much space at the edge of the pizza. The outer two inches of the crust is nothing but a breadstick.
As for the experience... the pizza is expensive... as in $30 for a large pizza. The website doesn't show how much the pizza costs, and when I called in to order a pizza, they didn't tell me over the phone how much it would cost. Then, when I got there, despite the fact that there were four employees hanging out up front, they made me wait until some other designated employee on take-out duty came out to help me. Some employees hanging out up front were complaining about the customers at their tables while I was standing there. When the take out employee finally came out, she told me the price so quietly, that I didn't understand what she said until she ran my credit card and I was handed a receipt for $33. Why on earth would a single pizza cost $33? Well, for one, I specified mozzarella and parmesan cheese, which they didn't tell me were counted as chargeable toppings. I assumed their website listed the available cheeses because it was a choose-your-own-cheese kind of thing. Nope - it turns out they charge for the cheeses. This makes me wonder if their regular pizzas come without any cheese? Seriously, who charges extra for mozzarella and parmesan cheese on a pizza? As for the other toppings - Â and these were just regular toppings, not the premium toppings - they cost $2.45 per topping on a large pizza. To make matters worse, I opened the pizza box and found a total of like 10 little mushroom pieces over the whole pizza. For $2.45, I expect more substance than that.
I was looking so forward to trying this place because they have such a great selection of toppings and specialty pizzas that are right up my alley. Normally, I am willing to pay extra for good quality ingredients and great taste, but between the skimpy toppings and bad experience, this place just isn't worth the price.
I enjoyed it.  But, $70 for a family of 4 is a pizza record!!  Granted, poor ordering on our part, 3 small pizzas and a pretzel for the little one plus a beer.  It was enjoyable but not sure $70 good.  Our friends fed their family for under $40 so make sure to share unless you want pizza sticker  shock when the bill shows.
Review Source:What's not to love about Mellow Mushroom? They have an impressive beer selection, the best pizza crust around and topping combinations that will never bore or disappoint. Â
If you're a standard pepperoni pizza kind of person, this place is good, but you'd be missing out on what makes this place awesome. Â Try any one of the specialty pizzas for a unique and tasty experience. Â The Thai pizza might be my favorite non-traditional pizza I've ever had. Â
Go on a weeknight when it's a little slower and sit in the beer temple  - it's probably not as cool as it sounds, but give the place some credit where credit is due... they have a beer temple.  Enough said.
