Greenhouse has definitely gone downhill. I think they're keeping the "greenhouse" theme with the high temperature inside the restaurant. The fried calamari was comparable to Gorton's fish sticks and their pulled pork sliders were beyond bland. To top it all off, my server brought me my check without a pen. Sorry, Greenhouse.
Review Source:I came here for lunch yesterday while on vacation, and it was...underwhelming. Â Service was excellent (and being from Memphis, that was a nice change!), and they have a great patio, but the food was just not right.
We started with the bruschetta, which was unlike any I've ever had. Â Instead of chopped tomatoes and herbs with crostinis, it was....well, kind of like pizza. Â Somewhat toasted white bread, topped with tomato slices and cheese, served with tomato sauce and pesto on the side. Â Not at all what I expected, and not in a good way either. Â
I had the smoked salmon sliders for my entree, and they were similarly disappointing. Â The cream cheese was overwhelming, the hunks of tomato and cucumber didn't add anything, and the salmon, rather than being those wonderful slices of lox I was expecting, was shredded and had some kind of odd aftertaste, like it had come out of a can. Â Imagine canned tuna, but salmon. Â Eww. Â The small handful of flavorless tortilla chips on the plate didn't do anything for me either -- salt, people!
For some reason, I decided to continue the train wreck and order dessert. Â A brownie a la mode -- how could that go wrong? Â Well, it was tiny, served in a cutesy Mason jar (complete with the lid on the plate!), and um, a la mode implies to me that the brownie would be warm, and this was not. Â There was a little heat way deep in the middle, but that may have been residual from the oven, where it was slightly underdone. Â But somehow kind of dry on the outside. Â And the scoop of ice cream squished in on top of the jar made it hard to get a spoonful that included both brownie and ice cream.
Finally, everything was very overpriced. Â The boyfriend paid for our party of four, so I'm not sure what the grand total was, but given the food we were served, it was way, way too much. Â Sorry to say, I can't recommend the Greenhouse at all.
