Great lunch here.  The service was a little slow, but we were a larger party (9 ppl)  I really enjoyed the food.  Would definitely go back!

Greenhouse has definitely gone downhill. I think they're keeping the "greenhouse" theme with the high temperature inside the restaurant. The fried calamari was comparable to Gorton's fish sticks and their pulled pork sliders were beyond bland. To top it all off, my server brought me my check without a pen. Sorry, Greenhouse.

I came here for lunch yesterday while on vacation, and it was...underwhelming.  Service was excellent (and being from Memphis, that was a nice change!), and they have a great patio, but the food was just not right.

We started with the bruschetta, which was unlike any I've ever had.  Instead of chopped tomatoes and herbs with crostinis, it was....well, kind of like pizza.  Somewhat toasted white bread, topped with tomato slices and cheese, served with tomato sauce and pesto on the side.  Not at all what I expected, and not in a good way either.

I had the smoked salmon sliders for my entree, and they were similarly disappointing.  The cream cheese was overwhelming, the hunks of tomato and cucumber didn't add anything, and the salmon, rather than being those wonderful slices of lox I was expecting, was shredded and had some kind of odd aftertaste, like it had come out of a can.  Imagine canned tuna, but salmon.  Eww.  The small handful of flavorless tortilla chips on the plate didn't do anything for me either -- salt, people!

For some reason, I decided to continue the train wreck and order dessert.  A brownie a la mode -- how could that go wrong?  Well, it was tiny, served in a cutesy Mason jar (complete with the lid on the plate!), and um, a la mode implies to me that the brownie would be warm, and this was not.  There was a little heat way deep in the middle, but that may have been residual from the oven, where it was slightly underdone.  But somehow kind of dry on the outside.  And the scoop of ice cream squished in on top of the jar made it hard to get a spoonful that included both brownie and ice cream.

Finally, everything was very overpriced.  The boyfriend paid for our party of four, so I'm not sure what the grand total was, but given the food we were served, it was way, way too much.  Sorry to say, I can't recommend the Greenhouse at all.

Stopped by before we went to see a band perform at the Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios.

I ordered the Spicy Black Bean burger with mashed potatoes. TO DIE FOR. Seriously, try it.

Wonderful outdoor dining experience. Can't wait to go to UNT!

Stick with the burger menu...SO WORTH IT!!!! The burgers were amazing; not too hot and juicy as ever. The only downside was the waiter we had was in a foul mood- not rude but definitely needed a 5 hour energy lol Other than that, the patio seating is awesome and the prices are pretty good. 2 people; full meal with 4 drinks about $30. Go hungry!!

Popped into Greenhouse for lunch for my first visit.  I was in search for an organic and or vegetarian spot in Denton.  I ordered a side salad to start - it arrived with the house dressing instead of the mango strawberry vinaigrette.  The server was very nice, apologized and brought me a new salad with the correct dressing.  It was fresh and delicious.  Ordered the Mushroom Cakes with Sundried Tomato pesto and Sweet Potato fries.  I had envisioned a veggie version of crab cakes but my vision was no where near accurate.  The 'cakes' were more like pieces of a lukewarm veggie meatloaf.  The pesto topping and SP fries were fantastic, however.  Also the 'cakes' had a distinct flavor of cumin (I believe) which is a flavor that I don't care for.  Wifi is fast, seating is comfortable.  LOVE the landscaping around the patio.  Oh, and portion size of the entrée was huge - enough for meals.  I'll be back for sure to try other vegetarian items and checkout the bar.

The patio on this place is just perfect on a cool fall day. We went because we were in town for a festival and they had a number of vegetarian friendly fare.  I had a delish butternut squash soup that I am still craving. My entree on the other hand was a cornbread dish and it had some spice in it that just made it uneatable. I love exotic food too, but this was just overpowering and weird tasting. My husband had the black bean tamales however which were quite good.  Cheap weekend themed drink specials - very nice. A cute place I'd go to for some soup or a drink, but mostly to sit on their little side patio and enjoy a pretty day.

I was at Greenhouse with a large group.  We ordered simple dishes and got mostly pretty good food.  I started by ordering a glass of Full Moon Pale Rye Ale, brewed by the Real Ale Brewing Company ("handcrafted ales from the Texas hill country").  It was a fine beer and certainly nothing like the similar-sounding Blue Moon Belgian white, which comes to us from the craft and import division of MillerCoors.

As an appetizer, I chose the black bean soup, which turned out to be watery and bland-tasting.  Well that was a mistake!  My main course was a pulled pork sandwich, which came with cole slaw inside the sandwich.  However, the sandwich was served open, so I was able easily to eat the pork and the cole slow and ignore the bread.  The result was A-OK.  (I was inclined to ignore the bread because I'd already eaten a bunch of rolls while we were waiting for our food to come out.)

Overall, I'd reckon this to be a 2.6-star experience.  I'll round up to three stars but came away with a vaguely negative impression of the operation.

I really wish I liked this place. I keep trying, and every time I wonder why it's not better. The beer selection isn't great, the beer is a bit expensive, and the food just isn't good. The menu seems like it should be interesting, but the food is bland. Oh, and the service ranges from average to atrocious.

NOT GOOD! After a 40 minute wait to get a table, we waited a further 40 minutes to get our meal. When the meal finally arrived , what was supposed to be a sandwich made with toasted sourdough bread was essentially  a soggy bread sandwich with a couple of pieces of lunch meat inside served with soggy fries. Yuk... Needs Gordon Ramsey help!

Greenhouse in the past year has been very hit or miss for me.. There are times I go and the food is fantastic, but then I go another day and order the same exact thing and it doesn't taste good what-so-ever.
Recently I went and had one of their soups, it was some chili soup? I forgot the name, but it was entirely too bland. It tasted awful, no one at my table wanted it. My friend ordered a hot coco and it just tasted like they barely poured a pack of hot coco into water. We weren't expecting anything extravagant, but it didn't even taste like hot coco. I ordered the stuffed chicken and that was bland too.. The past few times I've ordered chicken, the chicken has had a funny chemically taste. The first time I thought it was the grill, but the last time the chicken was fried and still tasted funny.

The salads and dressings are always good, but I'm more reluctant to go to greenhouse with all of the inconsistency lately!

Greenhouse is always hit or miss for me. I honestly don't know why I keep going back, it's definitely not the service! The service has always been awful. I guess it's because I'm hoping it will once again go back to the quality of food that it had when I first moved to Denton.

Most of the food items still sound great in theory, but lack in actual delivery. Luckily, there are still  a few safe items, such as the Parmesan Tilapia, grilled chicken, and black bean burger. With that being said, even those items have definitely gone down hill and people are noticing. More and more people that I talk to say that they'd rather not waste the money. Oh yes, that's another thing... many of the items are way over priced.

Overall, if you're in Denton, there are way better options that satisfy 100% of the time with a lot better service and cheaper prices. Sorry Greenhouse, two years ago your rating from me would have been much better.

Greenhouse is the good old standby. Need a good meal? Greenhouse. Want to stop off at a nice bar for a tasty cocktail? Greenhouse. Want a burger? Greenhouse. Need a nice place to take the parents? Greenhouse.

On Foursquare, I've checked in over 60 times. That's all you need to know. Highly recommended.

After spending some time perusing the mix of reviews for Greenhouse, I decided I'd add my own two cents.  I feel like a lot of what I read is what I hear from people I take here; it's either really great or really bad.  I myself have never had a bad experience here, yet I cannot seem to convince Ami to come here with me and it sounds like a lot of the Yelp community's negative experiences are hers as well.

I've really stuck to the same few things on the menu and they come out consistently great.  I'm a huge fan of the black bean burger and I have converted quite a few burger fans to it as well.  It's a flavorful black bean patty with avocado ranch on a bun.  Simple, yet it always blows my mind.  If you get a dish that comes with fries, switch to sweet potato version; they are amazing!  I have mine with a side of ranch because the ranch at Greenhouse is great.  I know, it seems weird that I'd put a plug in for a restaurant's ranch, but anybody who enjoys a good ranch knows what I'm talking about.  Top it off with a beer and you've got a great meal.

There are a few things to note that I think are key to your enjoyment of Greenhouse.  The Southwest Chicken taco are good, but greasy.  Don't say I didn't warn you.  I did not enjoy what I tasted once from Ami's Parmesan Tilapia, but my dad swears by it, so it seems to be a preference in taste.  The chicken stew they sometimes have is killer and I'd eat a vat of it if I got a chance.  Finally, sweet potato fries.  I've mentioned them twice, I think you get the picture.

Okay allow me to vent for a moment. I have eaten here four different times and eaten four different things. I've gotten the burger (just so-so), the blackened chicken (hated), the quesadillas (no flavor), and finally the Taco Salad, which I loved.
I really like the amount of options they have on their menu, but the food is just alright, and kind of boring. I don't get why everyone in Denton deems is buzz-worthy and amazing.
    Service kind of sucked too

    It's hit or miss.

If I wanted to eat crap, I would have just saved the money and eaten the excrement my dog leaves on the sidewalk every morning during his walk. I would be just as disgusted, but at least I would still be fifteen dollars richer.

Now that I have your attention, I should say that the food my friends ordered were well-received (I came with around ten of them, and they were all pretty happy with what they ordered). Our waiter was really nice and attentive. So why only 1 star? Because the food that I myself ordered was THAT bad. I ordered an appetizer and an entree and they were both terrible. Perhaps they were the only two bad items on the menu and I just happened by sad accident to have ordered them both. Well to that I would recommend to the good folks at Greenhouse to remove those items. Immediately.

CALAMARI: Since it was Wednesday, it was half-off appetizers night with the purchase of an entree. I didn't know what appetizers on the menu were good, but since calamari is usually a safe choice at any restaurant, I went with that.
Fast-forward a few minutes, and the waiter places a plate of what looks like mozzarella sticks or fish sticks with dipping sauce in front of me. Given the shape (almost too-perfectly cut) it was probably frozen and store-bought. Not cool. Not to mention, it didn't even taste good. The calamari was so tasteless, which gave away even more that it was probably frozen, its flavor long gone. The dipping sauce was described in the menu as a 'sweet and spicy southwest sauce.' Well it certainly wasn't spicy, and if it was sweet it was too tasteless to tell.

CURRY ZUCCHINI CAKES: The restaurant is called 'Greenhouse,' I'm not sure why. I thought it was because their veggie dishes must be pretty good. But it was so gross! They were two squares that actually looked like cake (you know, the dessert) and had the consistency of cake. I honestly thought they would have the feel and look of crab cakes--you know, where you can see chunks of zucchini and veggies in it. But it was just some brown thing that, by appearance, could pass for banana-nut bread.
And, to add insult to injury, they topped it with sour cream and a plum sauce that didn't match the other, much less the actual zucchini cake.
Oh yeah, and the sweet potato fries that came with the zucchini cakes were lukewarm and a tad soggy. It was clear that it had been sitting for a long time.

As good as the atmosphere and the service was, I really really disliked the food so much that I don't know if i'll come back.

I'd say Greenhouse is an essential "Dentonite" spot. It permeates that bohemian, eccentric, strummin' my sitar kind of feeling - and I don't mean in an annoying way. It's a becoming restaurant with a free-spirited atmosphere, and the menu is pretty unique and diverse.

Start with Chilean Blue Mussels for an appetizer (they're piquant but light), or have a set of gourmet sliders (smoked salmon, sun-dried tomato, or pulled pork). There are various options for your main course, and I mean VARIOUS. Grilled steak, burgers, chili, tacos, pizza, seafood, vegetarian cuisine, sandwiches, desserts, etc., and each dish is galvanized with a touch of decadence - nothing on this menu is routine. For instance, I had the fish tacos which were made distinctive by the addition of a fabulous jicama slaw.

The drink menu at Greenhouse probably deserves its own review. There's an astonishing number of original signature cocktails (think drinks inspired by fiction novels and jazz legends), and an immense wine and beer list. Enjoy your selection of  inspirited drinks and foods on the quaint outdoor patio, which will be perfect for the forthcoming fall weather. Greenhouse is unusual in the best way with its fancy, fresh food and casual aura. Go see and be merry.

The Greenhouse is a place I had been once before, and I was a little disappointed but my father liked it well enough that we decided to go on his visit here. My opinions changed.

I found out that Greenhouse and the Loco Cafe across the street have the same owners, so I know Loco is good (I'll review that) so Greenhouse does have some great standards to live up to. Shoot, have breakfast and lunch at Loco and come to Greenhouse for dinner.

I had a green chile burger on this visit and DAMN, was that a good burger. Granted, I have yet to visit New Mexico and have a true green chile burger, so I have no comparison, but this was a burger well worth having again. Green chilis, swiss cheese, sweet bacon, a green chile mayo and a beautifully cooked medium burger, dripping with juice. And some pretty good handcut, skin-on fries. Also a nice Red Hook beer was on special and worked well with the food.

Very mellow atmosphere, my daughter loved the fish tank. It was even nice enough to sit outside if you wanted to.

I've been for dinner several time and it always meets my expectations. Recently I had lunch there and had the club sandwich.  It was delicious.  I was most impressed with the side of veggies.

I would recommend you try the Greenhouse.

The service left so much to be desired that it is hard to look past that.  Our family ordered pretty standard stuff, a couple of burgers and two kids meals.  Although our orders all arrived at the same time, two of our meals were completely cold, while the other two were piping hot and fresh.  So disappointing.  We had read so much about the sweet potato fries, but unfortunately, they were ice cold and soggy.  Again, I was terribly disappointed by this.

That said, the burgers we ordered were very good.  But with the subpar service and the cold food, it is hard to say I'll be back soon.

I usually come here during happy hours for their drink specials.

I love the ambiance this place gives. Plus you can never go wrong sitting at the awesome bar.

Last time I was there I had the Parmesan Tilapia. One of the best tilapia I've ever had, probably because it was boneless and was served with a delicious potato basil soup (the soup was so tasty I had to order a second bowl).

My friend had the ceviche and he said it was really tasty as well.

This place is becoming my weekly hangout spot.

Like others, my only complain is the lack of staff.

Greenhouse is definitely a different type of place, compared to the other restaurants in town. I definitely suggest trying at least one thing on every part of the menus, and you'll find that one thing you'll keep coming back for.
The biggest complaint it seems is the lack of staff on occasion. True. Greenhouse has been known go have a lack of staff at some times, however everyone does their best. At the same time, be smart: if it's a gorgeous day, and you want to sit on the patio, after noticing that the patio looks pretty full, and still sit there, don't complain about waiting because you see how busy it is. Same goes for if it's graduation, mothers day, valentines day ect... Make a reservation, or wait 45minutes. These waits are because this place is popular. So be smart.

The salads are wonderful, especially the harvest chef salad with tuna.
The burgers are large, and the kitchen has a tendency to overlook a little, but they are pretty spot on with temperatures.
The vegetarian menus is great. Being healthy, and filling, you can't go wrong there.
The appetizers, all vary. Some are larger, some are not. Just remember that they offer complimentary bread, now you have to ask for it, but they have it.
The desserts are ever changing flavours with always something new to try.

The bar area is one of the best bars ever. A full bar with great bartenders that can make anything you want at pretty good prices, compared to the competition. Look out for drink specials too.

As far as atmosphere, it's all going to be a matter of where you are.
In the main dining room, listen for Frank Sinatra, gypsy kings or old school Cher. In the bar, listen for some bluegrass, rock and roll and occasionally some Elton John.

There's something for everyone at this place, so go and make your own assumptions.

Can't go wrong with the burgers, appetizers, or salads.    They really do a fine job of catering to healthy diets with a separate gluten-free menu and plenty of lighter foods on the regular menu.

Also, they feature local live jazz performers in the bar area on Mondays and Thursdays from 10-midnight.

    Great place.

Denton is not exactly full of restaurants where one can enjoy a nice, quiet patio meal.  Greenhouse is one of them.  Sometimes though, its a bit too quiet as the servers disappear for extended periods of time... not a big deal if you really just want to sit back and relax, but it can be annoying if you're trying to flag down a server asking for drink refills or wondering where your food is.

Speaking of food.  Greenhouse serves some decent grub.  We've usually stuck to their 'gourmet' burgers - their portabella or lamb burgers are both decent - and they have good sweet potato fries to boot.

Maybe not the top of the list, but Greenhouse is a solid option.

This place only gets 3 stars because of slow(short staff) service and getting my order wrong, but I'm kind of glad the order was wrong.  The food turned out great.

Appetizers were ordered for the table, so of course, I had to try them all.  The queso was pretty good, the jalapeno bottle caps are SPICY, so if you can't handle spice, I don't recommend them, and the calamari was pretty good.

The waitress recommended the black bean burger bbq style, so I followed her suggestion.  It came out as just a regular black bean burger, and it did not disappoint me.  I loved it, and it came out hot and fresh.  I LOVE their sweet potato fries here, so if you want a substitution, I highly recommend the sweet potato fries.  I love local chain restaurants, and I loved that Denton mostly has mom and pop restaurants that aren't located everywhere.

I also tried a friend's salmon wrap, and it's pretty tasty.  Their speciality drinks are really good here, I recommend anything with ginger vodka in it, it was good.

I love this restaurant, so if you don't mind the slow service and wait, come here.  If you have a bigger party, I recommend making reservations in advance.

I've passed by the Greenhouse many a time and wanted to try it based on the inviting patio space and the sign alone. We happened to go on a night that was quasi-cool and rainy (yay!) so no al fresco for us. Entering the restaurant, I was pleased to see the friendly/earthy vibe in the interior as well. It was a Saturday night so as walk-ins we chose to sit in the bar area rather than wait 30 minutes. (Note the Greenhouse does allow smoking in the bar area--which based on the name of the place surprises me--but fortunately it didn't seem like anyone was actually puffing anyway.)

The menu has diverse offerings that all sounded great but I wasn't really wowed by the food itself. I got the black bean tamales. I was really hungry so ate every bit, but the black beans were very dry as was the tamale itself, basically it depended on the queso covering (which, lets face it, is velveeta) to cut the dryness and blandess of the rest. I did appreciate the dollop of guacamole and the mango/onion salad served on the side.  I had gotten the side salad to start and though I like the cumin dressing the lettuce itself has obviously started to go off, yuck. My dining companions got salad for entress, one ceasar with chicken, the other quinoa. Neither of their salads looked that great to me. My friends are not to type the complain but I can hardly say they ate them with gusto and both left quite a bit on their plates. They did enjoy however the fresh bread brought beforehand.

Our server was very nice.  I'll certainly give the Greenhouse another shot and would go back in nice weather for the patio.

    Pretty Awesome.
The greeenhouse can be whatever you want it to be:
You can dress up and sit down for a romantic night out or you can enjoy some cheap shiners and jazz music at the bar.

    My tips:
    - Sunday wine day. $3 house wines of all varieties, and it's good stuff too!
    - Fries. THE BEST FRIES IN DENTON. Yeah, I said it. At $2, you have to try them.
    - Ambiance. My wife and I sit outside on the patio and watch the lights from the downtown square while we enjoy some wine. It's amazing.
    - $2 beers on live jazz nights: Monday and Thursday after 8pm.
    - Service. The people that work there are generally knowledgeable and helpful. If you can sit in her section, Kingsley is the best!

Don't mess with sitting in the restaurant area. IMO, it's way more interesting to sit in the bar area or outside.

Give the Greenhouse a shot! You deserve it.

    The outside looks so inviting.
The idea of live jazz music and a full bar gets my heart racing.
They offer a varied menu of local classics.
With no idea of what they are doing.

I was disappointed. They have a great  idea, location, and staff, but the food is beyond terrible. They need to edit the menu in half and offer healthier options with local produce, cheese, and meats. Also, I read some of the other reviews of this place. If people think the taco salad is healthy, I disagree.  Velveta is not real food, and should not be used.

Best to go just for drinks, but unfortunately there is smoking in the bar.

I really enjoy coming here for any occasion really. Depending on the night that you go it can be really dull or really busy and I have had service that reflects both. Regardless of the poor or excellent service the food always makes it up for me. I cannot say that I have had food that was cooked improperly , and I have been here many times.
This place is a great spot for vegetarians and meat lovers alike, personally I love my meat but some things to mention that I get regularly are the sweet potato fries, sooo worth the extra dollar fifty and the portobella mushroom burger...mmmm yummy. And an excelled appetizer to check out are their spinach and artichoke dip ( without chicken) and the reason why this is so good is because of the mango salsa...yum.

Greenhouse just has an adorable vibe to it. On top of the ambiance of it, their menu items arent boring and the staff is generally very nice and accommodating.

Their sweet potatoes fries make me say UHH. They are so good with the perfect amount of salt to them... And the homemade tortilla chips with queso and salsa are yummy too. I have tried pasta, burgers, and salads and never been disappointed. Great place for a casual meal in Denton.

Yuck Greenhouse!! I had the worst hamburger there last night. They asked how I wanted it cooked and then I'm almost certain they gave me a frozen patty. If it wasn't frozen, then they cooked it way ahead of time then recooked it so the meat became this flavorless, grey blob that not even green chilies could cover. It tasted like it was cooked too long on a dirty grill. If you read my other reviews, I am rarely/almost never this harsh on a restaurant. But seriously, this food was terrible.

On top of the nasty, grey burger, they gave us a side salad with brown lettuce. I understand how when you are at home and you are like, oh damn, I've got to use the rest of this lettuce because its not going to be good tomorrow; so you allow some curly, brown lettuce to be thrown in. But this isn't acceptable for a sit-down restaurant.

Service was not great. There was only a handful of tables and I'm pretty sure our server forgot about our food for a while. Whenever a waitress says that your app or salad or whatever came out at the same time as your meal and blames it on the kitchen, that usually means to me...I forgot to get your salad earlier and I just realized it. I was a waitress for a few years, I know the drill. And she only came by once to refill our drinks so I sat there with an empty glass and a burnt burger taste in my mouth.

Maybe this was an off day for Greenhouse. But it makes me upset enough that I had to spend 35 bucks for fast-food quality dining. If I ever find myself here again, it will be a liquid dinner at the bar. Despite the crappy food, they have good drink specials.

This is not a place for green thumbs or botanists. Maybe it's supposed to be in tribute to UNT's color or the owner is Green. It's more a restaurant than bar and on certain nights (jazz nights) it's more bar than restaurant.

They are daily specials which can sometimes be totally kick-ass. Wednesdays is half price appetizer per entree. HOWEVER, I think they made the portion sizes smaller the second time I went and it was very disappointing. tsk. tsk.

Mondays (I think) and Thursdays are jazz nights and live jazz bands play and it's pretty bumpin' sometimes. I enjoy a good jazz band and a good yazz flute. However, this place seems to draw crowds that really like to smoke, so be wary about needing to smell nice afterward. If you like to smell like smoke, you just arrived to your destination of hopes and dreams come true.

To reiterate on the restaurant and bar duality. This place freaking closed at midnight on Sunday when I wanted a drink. How dare you, Greenhouse. Your misleading name was already enough, but you still reject me on the nights I really need you? It's like a relationship waiting to turn into a marriage.

    Summary: "Yay" I'm a fan."

This is my first time trying greenhouse and it definitely was a winner. The price is great and the quality of the food matches the price.

I had the pleasure of trying two entrees here. I had the portabella mushroom sandwich with the smoked poblano  sauce inside a nicely toasted bun. The mushroom was grilled to perfection. It had a very nice texture which was a great accompaniment to the smokey poblano sauce.

I ordered the sweet potato fries as my side. It is crispy and crunchy just like how i like it. Unfortunately i have low tolerance towards salty fries and it was a tad too salty for me. Nevertheless the sweet potato fries were still good.

I also had the beef burger. Nothing special, just a simple moist burger without cheese but still delicious.

I'd definitely give other items on the menu a try!

This was one of my favorite restaurants when I lived in Denton and the place my boyfriend and I would go when we felt like spending a little more money on dinner than say, a Hot and Ready.

Every dish I had was always great but my favorite thing at Greenhouse was the chimichurri cheesecake. It was amazing! Basically they filled some pastry dough with a cheesecake filling, fried it, and then covered it in cinnamon and sugar and topped it off with a raspberry sauce. We ordered it once and were so addicted to the sugary stuff that every time we came back we would each order our own portion.

No wonder I gained weight when I lived there.

How did I not know about this place when I lived in Denton?? Oh, right. Because I was a poor college student. Apparently it's been at this location for years, tucked away just a few blocks off of the Square.

Greenhouse was so nice to accommodate our large group during homecoming weekend, as no one else would take us. Sixteen of us KKG/UNT alums packed into the bar area and they were super sweet about squeezing us in. It really made us feel welcome.

We started off with the chips and queso while everyone parked and arrived. The queso was small -- but then again, I suppose this isn't a chain Mexican food joint where everything is in obese proportions. I didn't try the fried ravioli, but the girls around me raved as we munched to keep our bellies from rumblin'.

A few of us ordered a drink, but for the most part we tried to detox and hydrate again because we knew what kind of night was ahead of us (*cough* Tavern). I had a glass of the Hob Nob Pinot Noir, and at $5.50 a glass...hell yeah. That's a steal in my book.

I ordered the caesar salad with portobello mushrooms. The dressing was spicy (chipotle caesar, I would have expected that it have a kick) and added a unique twist on a classic. I wish the mushrooms would have been bigger though -- most portobellos I know are ginormous and these were like the peewee squad.

Chase, our server, did an amazing job and really deserves a high-five for putting up with a bunch of drunk alums on homecoming weekend. When I venture back out to Denton (aka, I'm broke but we want to go on a day trip), I'll definitely keep this place in mind. Great date spot or dinner with close friends kind of place.

The Greenhouse is my favorite "date place" in Denton.  The food is delicious, and it is pretty cheap for what you get.  My wife and I like it so much that we had our rehearsal dinner here.

Each meal comes with soup and your choice of 2 soups de jour, the vegetable of the day, awesome bread, and the daily variety of mashed potato.  I've had many of the soups and I'd say there's always one of the two options that's great (there is a vegetarian and a non-veg option, and sometimes the veg is bettter, sometimes the non-veg).  The potatoes are usually mixed with some kind of cheese (cheddar is very common).

My favorite entrees are the Ahi Tuna (get it rare), which comes with wasabi aioli, and the stuffed chicken, which is the opposite of health food but very delicious (breaded chicken stuffed with cheese).  Also good are the tacos, and some of the vegetarian items (they are a very vegetarian-friendly restaurant)

For dessert they have a creme brulee (too lazy to look up the accented e) of the day.  The best that I've tried is orange.

The Greenhouse has a full bar and the usual Texas beer selection.

The Greenhouse is a special place. I went there today alone for the first time in over a year.
I ordered one of the Monday specials for an appetizer which were sliced deep fried jalapenos s'erved with ranch avocado sauce. They were OK. Couldn't really taste the jap flavor..

I had the avocado tacos which were fantastic as always. The chips were a tad stale, but I didn't come for those.

I have been to this restaurant many times in the past and always have amazing food. I experienced very poor service only once-when it was very busy and we had to take outside seating.

I'm giving it 5 stars despite it's misgivings because this is a gem. Period.

As a side note, their fish is always killer. I've tasted the beef and I'll agree that it's nothing spectacular.

A good place for a date and some fun drinks.

I've given Greenhouse a few chances and am really not impressed.  It's supposed to be the "nice" place in Denton, and it does have a decent atmosphere but the food and service are awful.

Most of the meals that I've had at this restaurant basically taste like very low quality home cooking. The burgers and sandwiches were served on slightly stale, small, 99 cents-a-bag, hamburger buns from the grocery store. I would say that if you're going to go here, stick to the tacos. The southwest chicken tacos and vegetarian tacos were decent, although the tortillas were also slightly stale and low, cheap, grocery store quality.

The service on every occasion has been terrible. Expect to wait anywhere from 10-20 minutes for a requested drink refill or just to see your server's face again.

I don't recommend this restaurant unless you're just wanting to sit in the bar and have a drink. I do, however, recommend that if you want a second drink, to go ahead and order it as soon as you receive the first.
