I have to admit that the food was amazing, however the service was absolutely horrendous! They have a wonderful atmosphere; great chefs, great busser-gals & busser-boys, however the service was atrocious. Â I have always been, and will always be about great customer service, and due to the poor waitress staff, we will NEVER return to this restaurant. There was no personality, a lack of caring and consideration, and our orders came to the table wrong, with no attempt to correct the problem. Â We ate our food, paid our bill, and left as quickly as possible (without even asking for any bill corrections). Â What an unfortunate circumstance for this restaurant and potential future business. Â Funny enough this is the first review that I have ever written, only in hopes that the restaurant owners will see the poor experiences had at their restaurant and have the motivation to correct the issues. Â This was a shame, as we had heard some very positive experiences (as well as a few negative) from this restaurant, however we like to base our opinions from our own experiences and not others, but unfortunately this was an incredibly negative experience that will prevent us from returning in the future. Â I hope that the owners are able to turn it around soon for their own sake.
Review Source:Eat in the bar and be happy...that you are alive!..avoid the dinning room...some of the coffin escapees are a bit daunting...the demographic in this town is fifty to dead...more so here...about seventy to dead is their customer base...but they are pretty high in the bar so what's to worry?...the pan frites are a knockout...and the liver with onions is very good...a real slice of the old life here....
Review Source:This restaurant was the one restaurant we were told to go to in Sun Valley. Â The servers were great the food was great. Â The Hostess was a nightmare. After we had finished our dinner and paid our check she came to our table and told us to leave there was another seating! Â Our bill for 7 was over $600. Â When we said we had never had this happen at any restaurant in the world she said she didn't care. We had been there for 2 hours and 5 minutes. Â Our reservation was at 6. Â We had 4 courses, which in a nice place takes time. Â If she had been polite and said they were busy we would have been gone in 5 minutes. Â We will never eat here again.
Review Source:I had heard many good things about this restaurant, so had high expectations. Â I left semi-satisfied.
The ambiance: Â Nice decor, classy, but a bit upper crust.
The service: Excellent. Â The servers were polite, attentive, and warm. Â Food came quickly.
The food: Â good in general, but mediocre considering the price and comparisons to other great french restaurants. Â My dish was a cream pasta with artichokes, smoked salmon, tomatoes, and artichokes. Â Quite good, but very small portions -- and not worth $28. Â The hubbie's dish was trout with sides of broccoli, carrots, corn, and some kind of rice pasta. That dish was somewhat disappointing-- the trout was done well, but overall plain and unimaginative. Â Decent but not great.
Dessert- apple tarte tatin with ice cream. Â This one came out pretty well.
Overall? Â Glad that I tried it, but was quite expensive for what it was. Â Will probably not go back again.
The proprietor of the restaurant is an extremely friendly French gentleman named, appropriately enough, Michel. Â Michel is visible during dinner service, and is quite charismatic.
I had never been to Sun Valley, and the plan was to go to Michel's for dinner before a night out in town. Â My experience at Michel's was very good. Â Not flawless, but very good. Â The atmosphere was terrific. Â The restaurant and the patio outside are both extremely comfortable to be in. Â We were outside, and there is a nice fountain with lots of great ambiance trees. Â
The wait staff was knowledgeable and on top of it. Â The food was really good, with the one exception being the reason I decided to take off one star. Â I had never had escargots before, so I decided to have them at Michel's. Â Now, I am a relatively adventurous eater, so it is not that I am somehow put off by the thought of eating snails. Â It's just that I was expecting them to be more flavourful than they were. Â They came in kind of a garlic butter, but it tasted more like a bland pesto without the cheese. Â In other words, it needed more seasoning. Â I imagine that it would have been really tasty in a drawn butter like one would have to dip lobster into. Â This was an unsalted oil, I believe, as opposed to butter. Â It lacked the taste that I was expecting.
All around, everything else was terrific. Â The wine list is great, the food overall is wonderful. Â It's just the escargots that made me wish I had tried them in France for my first time.
