I thought I'd drive to Lewisburg and go to Dari Twist but I saw this restaurant and decided that I should try it.
First, I got some odd looks when I walked into the dining room. Â The waitress walked over after a moment and brought a menu and put it down as if it was a lot of trouble to wait on me, and then, asked if I wanted something to drink while deciding. Â She then informed me that they had Pepsi products. Â I asked for a Mountain Dew and then, started to look at the menu choices.
She returned quickly and asked if I needed more time, so I asked for an Italian Steak sandwich, which included chopped steak, banana peppers, and pizza sauce. Â I also asked for fries and ended up with the natural cut fries.
She took the order to the kitchen and was friendly with the locals. Â I guess I didn't rate friendliness. Â After a few minutes, she returned with ketchup and mustard. Â A few minutes later, she returned with my meal. Â Both times, she was indifferent, as though she was serving a dog at a kennel. Â She said the right words, but it was obvious she wasn't meaning them.
The sandwich was great and at $4.10, it wasn't expensive really. Â The natural cut fries were soggy, as though they had thawed and were sitting there in water before they fried them. Â Some were dark red, some dark brown, and others were light brown. Â None of them tasted good, especially for $2.75.
When she left the bill, she never asked whether the food was good or not, and didn't question why about 98% of the original fries were still there.
She saw me preparing to go and went to pick up a coffee carafe immediately. Â Maybe, it was coincidence, but she'd been standing, talking for minutes until I moved away from the booth.
The food was worthwhile but being treated like that stunk more than a skunk. Â I probably should have returned to the booth and removed half the tip.
An American treasure in western Ohio. Â The jumbo fresh breaded pork tenderloin sandwich is huge, wonderful and inexpensive (($4.95). Â Fresh cut French fries and homemade fresh breaded onion rings are equally good, Â The restaurant is clean and the staff if excellent.
So, get off the interstate and stop in for one of this country's top sandwiches.
