Went their with another couple the for dinner. The menu was vast with plenty of good food to choose from. They had a lot of sub sandwich and pizza selection pretty typical of a pizzeria style restaurant. At 5 pm the specials came out for dinner, these offerings were a stepped up from the regular menu. Two people at my table ordered the prime rib and I went with the steak Diane. The prime rib was a queen cut that was huge and the steak Diane was tasty, although sauce was a tad oily. The last person in the group got the Maurice salad, it was gigantic and looked delicious, no complaints from the person who ordered it. The side salads that were ordered at an additional $1.50 to the specials were darn good salads and the dressing was delicious. So all in all the food was on the level, now the service on the other hand was not good. Our waiter seemed to disappear for long periods leaving empty iced tea and Oberon glasses for us to stare at while dreaming of another refill. When our main course's arrived my meal came out a full 5 minutes behind the rest of the table's dishes. Overall the waiter was not good and made it obvious he had a better place to be. I noticed the groups who came in long after us were growing irritated with the bad waiter we were all sharing. I wont hold the bad service against this place when people ask me for a recommendation, bad service can happen anywhere. I always tip 20%, but on this special occasion I left a 10% tip, it wasn't worthy of five!

This place provides consistently 'good' food and the service is usually okay.  They have a little bit of everything on the menu.  There is sometimes a long wait on weekends.  The breadsticks are awesome.  The only thing I tend to avoid here is the salmon (always tastes a little 'fishy').

Waited 45 mins for our food in an empty restaurant only to get my salad without the salmon.  Manager came to our table and said "things happen".  Was incredibly rude and unprofessional, we found out that the owners were out of town at the time of our visit.  I guess it's true what they say, when the cat is away the mice will play.

A great spot for a casual night with family or as a date. Extra awesome bonus? A BIG patio. Only downfall is the chairs aren't the most comfortable.

Tip: Stick with what they are best known for: Bread Styx (with the OMG-it's-so-good cheese dip), pizza and Greek salad. Can't go wrong. Typical prices. Always check the specials menu for special drink prices.

Will not go back. The wait is too long for everything. From seating, drinks and your food the service is never quick. The food is OK - I actually love the nachos, pizza and bread sticks. The burgers are OK and the rest of the menu is not worth any fuss. If you are going with kids make sure to pack some serious stuff to keep them busy.

We like this place.  It is always busy on a weekend night.  It's a family place and decent bar food with 6-7 entrees.

Parking can be a challenge, typically their is parking across the street in the free parking lots behind the Main street stores.  Sometime you can find a spot on the street.

The restaurant is bigger than you think and especially when they have the outdoor seating.  But the main dining room swings around the bar, even though they have 12-14 tables in the bar area.

They menu is pretty large, but it's dominated by salads and sandwiches.  They also can do a decent pizza, but the deep dish pizza is just a square round pizza.  They always have a couple of dinner specials.  They have wide selection of bottle beers, not many draft beers.

The wait saff is young and not that experience and on a weekend they are busy, so sometimes is can be a little bit of a wait.  Just order the pizza sticks, with the cream garlic cheese.

Very mediocre food, mediocre ambiance, great beer list, horrible horrible service. Not much else to write.

Their french dip is advertised as their house specialty. It is bland and ver salty. Meehhh.

Hopefully this place goes the way of Cinco Lagos, out of business. Need some more credible restaurants in the Milford area.

My husband seriously could not get over the stroller policy.  I find it funny and yet, kind of ridiculous.  Don't take yourself so seriously Milford House!  We enjoyed some apps and then sandwiches.  My phigrinder was blech.  Not much filling, Meat was DRY DRY DRY.  The chicken noodle soup seemed to be a big hit with my friends.

I went here recently with a group of people, and it was a disaster. The food was bland and humdrum, and My kid was charged full price for one tiny little salad, our waitress said "Oh we don't have a house salad", Liar!  The refills we practically had to beg for on our drinks, it was ridiculous! NOT a good experience...The wait-staff here is always incompetent however.

Not bad. We went during the art fair, so service was really slow (as to be expected) and it was really uncomfortably packed. Based on the food, the food was alright. We both got grinders and they were decent. Nothing spectacular, but not half-bad either.

We just left this restaurant and, save for the chicken noodle soup, will never return again.

We walked in and the AC in the front room was out and it was stifling. We were greeted by no welcome at all and simply were asked what our drink order was.

The chicken noodle soup was delicious, however. Totally homemade.

I ordered a grinder sandwich and it was way too bready with awfully chewy/rough roast beef. The fries were good. I asked for a side of ranch and, upon receiving the bill realized she charged us $2.50 for a small side without ever inquiring if that was ok.

We ordered the cream puff sundae for dessert and I asked our waitress if it was delicious...her response? "it's ice cream, hot fudge and a cream puff...so If you like that sort of thing..."

Now I was a server for two years and I always try to give my servers the benefit of the doubt but this woman was just not good at all. She was clearly annoyed but when you have a table that all orders alcohol, order an appetizer, entrees and dessert, you know your ability to get a good tip is very likely...I can tell you that she definitely paid for the side of ranch because it came off her tip!

If this is a restaurant option for your family, order the chx noodle soup to go & get the hell outta there!

Came here with my girlfriend, been meaning to try for a while, the menu is huge and priced very good, the food proportions are more then generous. The service was good and thier patio is awesome.

Why only 3 stars then? The food was externally bland. We both had poultry for our entrees . It tasted like chicken cooked in a pan then sauce was drizzled on in at the end. I probably come back for a drink, but the food did not impress me or my GF.

The place looks huge and nicely laid out.  However, they were packed.  No problem.  It happens.  We didn't want to wait and ate at the bar.  Not a huge liquor selection but still its a local place.  I'll let that slide too.

Then we get to the food.  I had the french dip which seemed like a popular choice as it was featured on the menu.  Unfortunately, it was really dry and lacked a good beefy flavor.

Three strikes and you are out.  Wasn't impressed.  Nice staff made it not a total loss.

Milford House is one of my parents favorite restaurants, so I have been there no less than a dozen times. I REALLY tried to like it. I have eaten many items. Pizza, fish, pasta, salad, grinders, burgers, sandwiches, specials. Some have been decent, others manageable, and a few times I didn't eat more than a few bites. This place is popular and has a nice atmosphere. Clearly there are many who like it (my parents included), but when mom asks me to meet her at Milford House I try to make an excuse and fry myself an egg.

We went here for lunch a few weeks ago for the first time. I had always wanted to see what it looked like and try it. The food was fair but not great by any means and I was a bit disappointed in the atmosphere, I thought it would be a bit nicer. Probably will not go back again anytime soon.

The Milford House is a great place for homemade food served in generous portions at a very fair price. My go to items include the Greek salads, awesome breadsticks and the walleye or steak  They also have some great daily specials.  The bar area while small, pours a great drink at a reasonable price. The Milford house is a great place for families and has been run by a family who really cares for thier customer and community. Oh and it has a great corner location with a wonderful patio out front.

I have been eating at Milford House for around 3 years now, and I can safely say I haven't had a bad experience.  This restaurant is in a great location, right in the heart of downtown Milford. The interior is spacious (except the bar area is tight) and clean, and during the warmer months there is a large outdoor seating area.  They have a big menu of reasonably priced food.  The quantities are large, and the quality is good.  Service is usually friendly and prompt.  I have tried a number of restaurants in downtown Milford since moving to the area, and I would put Milford House at the top of my list!

Like anywhere else with such a varied menu, you need to know what to order at Milford House. The salads are awesome. The Kris's Salad with the house honey celery seed dressing is my favorite and my husband's favorite is the Cobb Salad, but they have a lot of different choices. I have never cared for the pasta or pizza--I think the pasta is very plain and greasy, and the pizza has way too much cheese for my taste.
Try to eat here during off times--the parking lot is TINY and at night, the parking lot across the street gets full, too.

This is the place to order their Strip Steak!  ALWAYS GREAT!  I know, I have ordered it 5 times and it is always great.  Also, their side salid with the steak is the Largest around.
If you look at the price of this meal it is the BEST in Milford.
Sometimes this place is super busy but it is because of their great food.
    Keep up the Great Work!
This is my Best Rated Place within 50 miles!

The 1st time I eat at the Milford House was in the Mid 70's, when it was a small place with great food and drinks! It was one of the places we would go to often and was away pleased. I moved away and time pasted and I ended back at the Milford House, it is now the start of the 2000 and the place is on changed the food is great and so are the drinks! Time marches on and it is 2008 and the place has gotten bigger, much bigger and you can eat outside! I came in to the same old place but was moved to the new room and part was outside, well OK the food was good not great as in the past and the drink where the same. Oh no I have seen to many places get big and soon get gone!!!
Well I'm happy to report this is not the case for the Milford House it is alive and doing well and once again the food is great and so are the drinks!
Remember to eat well and to live well, and please no chains!

Don"t ever get carry out from this place unless you want it to be wrong!!! After the 4th or 5th time,  I finally stopped doing business with them. The last time The girl at counter assured me the order was correct, after i told her my carry out is always wrong here. When I ordered a cobb salad with no onions , got home & guess what it was buried with onions!!!!!! Went back & the girl said " she didn"t hear me say no onions!!!! It is glorified gordons food service, bar food so not really missing the place since I stopped going. Cheap so I guess you get what you pay for!!!!!

If you want a good pizza, dine in here. I have heard people call it bar pizza, but I would use that term as a big positive. When you are tired of Jet's or just want a good pie, give it a try. If you dine in, get the round; if you're doing take-out, get the deep dish.

The other things I have tried there have been ok - burgers, steak and cheese sammy. Nothing to write home about... But it's a good place for a beer, and the service has always been good on the bar side. Cute and friendly :)

I grew up in Milford, and whenever I go back a greek salad and breadsticks are a must!  Their carryout entrance is very convenient for me, and the staff is always very friendly.  My greek salad was packed with tons of fresh ingredients and it's almost impossible to make it all the way home without breaking into the bag of breadsticks.

I highly recommend that you stop there, whether it's for a quick carryout meal or to dine in.  I've never been disappointed with anything there.

We used to come here every weekend, but lately the service and food has been going downhill. Final straw was yesterday, ordered a burger well done and it arrived burnt, about inedible. Asked for it to be taken off the bill, we didn't have another half-hour to wait for another dish. Incredibly, the "kitchen manager" would only take off half the price. I insisted though, and got it completely taken off. This is very bad business practice, since we (used to) spend a lot of money there.

We arrived for lunch today and it seemed moderately busy.  There were several empty tables but we were told there would be a 15-20 minute wait.  Once seated, a sweaty, flustered waitress greeted us.  She seemed completely overwhelmed and super busy.

Our orders were not very complicated.  Two of us got soup and salad and the other two each got a cup of soup and an entree.  We waited FOREVER with no attempt made to serve our soups or salads.  Finally, we got a hold of our waitress and reminded her that we were still waiting.  She said she would check  the kitchen.  Probably 20 more minutes ticked by with no sign of the soups, salads or anything.....  We asked to speak to the manager.....

Funny, not 2 minutes later, our salads and soups arrived.  She explained that they were swamped with customers and they ran out of cups for the soup.  She had to serve them in bowls instead.  My minestrone was just OK, nothing special, and the beans were not cooked all the way thru.  My son's & mom's chicken pot pie soups had not ONE piece of chicken to be found but they said it was flavorful. Our entrees and salads arrived shortly after.  The greek salad was really good.  The dressing was one of the best I have had.  My son's cheeseburger was super dry.

The bill finally arrived and I did not look it over before paying.  I noticed afterward that we were overcharged. Now we had to wait for the Mastercard card transaction to be voided and re-rung.  That took another 15 minutes to figure out.  Uggh.

This was the most disorganized restaurant I have been to in a long time.   I suspect that there was a problem with the waitstaff on this particular day.  They seemed way understaffed.  I was really surprised that the manager NEVER came over to our table after we asked to speak to him.  He decided to hide behind the bar instead.  Not good. I would not go back to this place again.  There are many other restaurants to explore in downtown Milford!

My friend, who lives in town and I came here for dinner on a Friday night. With the words Bar & Grill in the name you might think it was just that. Actually they have an extensive menu. The interior is bright too, with large windows overlooking Commerce and Main Streets.

We had her hungry four year old in tow and they were very accommodating; switching the penne noodles in the kid's pasta for spaghetti noodles with meat sauce. We ordered that right away while we pondered our choices. In the end we ordered an eight piece deep dish pizza. It was very good, except the feta cheese topping on top was burnt. It was way to much pizza; we were full after two pieces each. So, for the value it was really like four meals worth of food.

I was happy to savor a Bell's Oberon Ale. All the cool places serve this fine Michigan beer. It is the perfect beverage for a hot summer night.

The place got busy as the night went on. I am glad to see a local business doing so well. If I lived in Milford I could see being a regular here.

I was at the Milford House on a Thursday evening and it wasn't too busy when we arrived.  The hostess seated us in the back and we asked to be moved to the front bar area with the big booth that looked so comfortable.  They quickly cleaned off the table and sat us there.  So far, so good.

I ordered the walleye salad with crumbled bleu cheese and dried cherries and mixed greens which sounded good. "Mixed Greens" I took to mean a spring mix.  It was actually all iceberg lettuce.  Am I becoming a salad snob?  no, I just don't like the taste of iceberg lettuce.  The walleye was very bony and not really tasty.  The combo for this special was French onion soup which I substituted with fries, just because of the beef stock.  The fries were overcooked and greasy and came with a side of ketchup. Sorry, I don't do ketchup.  I'm ok with there being a bottle on the table but to bring it out as a side?  no.

Service was very spotty.  We first asked for another minute to look over the menu then our server didn't come back for another 15 minutes. We ordered bread for an appetizer and it was forgotten until we asked about it when our mains came.  My fries were also forgotten.

The price wasn't too high which was the only redeeming thing about this meal.  I would rather pay a little bit more though and have the same high quality ingredients I use when cooking at home.

Maybe I was just too tired from a long day and not looking forward to my drive home, but I left this place in a bad mood, and still hungry because I didn't eat much of my meal.  The next time someone asks me to go the Milford House I'll say thanks but no thanks.

Love this place, the food is excellent and both times I've been here I have had great service. The dining room is very open with lots of windows, and also expands in the summer time to offer outdoor seating, which I think is also very nice for a restaurant to offer. The Milford House can accommodate lots of people and even sitting in the bar area doesn't seem to be too bad.

I would like to add it's Smoke Free and that from the outside the name is actually Milford House Bar & Grill. Another reviewer had classified this as "Regular Bar" food, it is far from "bar food" with choices ranging from Roasted chicken and Pasta's to Pizza and Grinders to ten different salads and it's all great food.  My wife likes the selection of wine as well. They also were nominated for the Channel 4 "Best Pizza" Award in 2009 !!
Try their Ice Cream Shop next door after dinner.

This place is so good that I bought a shirt.  What started out as a very tiny bar on Commerce has expanded to include the entire corner onto main street, including a very comfortable enclosed patio and outdoor seating area.  I started out with breadsticks fresh and hot with just the right amount of seasoning, mixed with excellent homemade ranch, and a Perriez Punch.  Next up, an incredible French Dip with real au jus.  Roll was perfect with a very nice serving of meat and cheese.  I was also eying several of the other grinders, including the Texas Turkey Grinder that the wife got.  We have now been here several times, and will continue to visit on a regular basis.

The outside facade of this place fooled me.  A few weeks ago I saw the beautiful corner location with attractive art deco awning and the outdoor seating and decided I HAD to try it soon.  So, last week my wife and I went and I was expecting too much, I think.

The outdoor presentation of the place looks MUCH fancier than the menu and inside actually is.  My wife took one look at the menu after we sat down and said "Huh.  Looks like regular bar food", which I had to agree with.  Nothing at all spectacular and nothing like what I expected before walking in.

The inside was a bit dirty and bar-like..more casual than I expected.  We sat outside on the patio in the evening and the sun was blinding all the patrons since it faces west (which is tough during summer dinner hours).

I can't actually review the food because we didn't really eat any.  After looking at the menu we decided we'd have an appetizer and drink and go somewhere else for the meal.  I ordered a house wine (which was really bad, but cheap..so whatta ya expect?) and we got the spinach and artichoke dip.  It was basically a huge bowl full of cheese that happened to also contain spinach.  Delicious but probably the highest calorie thing I'd eaten all week.

Would we go here again?  No.  Was it horrible?  No.  I think there are better places in Milford including the place we ended up (which was "The Bar" on the south side of town).
