I can't say I've ever had a good experience with this place. Â I've been three or four times, usually on their $2.50 pint nights. Â The food has generally been disappointing and there beer is pretty bad. Â Just go around the corner to Laht Neppur if you're looking for better microbrews, or just about any other restaurant for better food. Â I haven't heard good things about this place from other locals, so I'm pretty sure it's all tourists who keep this place afloat.
Review Source:Well.... I was quite disappointed.
I came into this restaurant with an open mind. From the outside and from the first walk in, I was expecting a great dining+drinking combo experience. To some up my feelings, it was definitely "Meh."
We had the option to sit either at the bar or at the restaurant side; we chose the restaurant side so that we could get a bit more of an intimate experience without all of the raucous.
The menu options seemed endless and amazing, and the one thing that really popped out at me was the Spicy, Snappy, and Sassy chicken sandwich; it was definitely none of the above. The chicken itself was bland, the supposedly "spicy" sauce tasted like nothing with a hint of cheese, the buns tasted & felt stale, and the best part of the sandwich was the lettuce which had a great green color with a really good crunch. It came with fries which were really mediocre.
My meal didn't come with the choice of soup or salad which I was quite thankful for because, somehow, the salad was not good at all. Although my sandwich lettuce was good, the salad lettuce wasn't good at all.
Awesome potential, poor execution.
The waitstaff was desperately attentive for a hopping Sat. night. We were quickly seated in the bar. I do not recommend sitting where you can see into the kitchen. The window in revealed 3-4 staff visiting without much initiative to get moving. More than half of the patrons were on their cell phones despite the fact they were accompanied by friends- not sure if this is reflective of the dark ambience or the clientele or the generation. The nachos were heaping with fresh toppings but the chips were soggily disappointing. I recommend visiting for lunch when there is more natural light and a larger crowd.
Review Source:As far as beer goes- We had a pitcher of brew 22 and walla walla wheat. Â Both were pretty tasty... the beer depending on the season and batch can be pretty good but it's def. a hit or miss. Â Their fish tacos are SO good... But I am choosy when I eat here because some of the food is not good at all...
Overall though- The owner intends well for this place, but typically the service is not good at all and the food is average...
I wanted to like this place since after 2 straight days of wine tasting, I was ready for a cold draft beer. Â But unfortunately on a Saturday afternoon ( Approx. 2:00 p.m.) they were out of my two beer choices. Â So, needless to say my food experience was going to have to make up for my annoyance of settling for water. Â I had the Zesty, Snappy & Sassy Chicken sandwich and fries. Â The sandwich was not good at all and the fries were average at best. Â In the future, I will locate Andreas Kitchen and get a burger and fries.
Review Source:Horrible service. Â Still waiting on my beverage, ordered there special beer, they were out, ordered the next popular beer they were out. Â It's 8:30 on a Saturday and they don't have beer????, Â its been 20 minutes and still no water or beer. Â If we weren't with a group I would be out of here. Â I'm thirsty.. Â still no beer. Â 25 minutes in, went I got my own beer, served the boys their dr pepper and sprite myself, wow, worst service ever.. Â ordered a chef salad, guess what still no salad...this is one of the worst experiences. I hav ever had in a public restaurant. Â I try not to write negative reviews, but they earned it. Â Maybe they had a bad night.
Review Source:This place only had 3 beers on tap when I was there on a Sunday night. Â I had the IPA and it was too malty. Â It almost didn't taste like an IPA. Â
We sat at a booth and the light was too bright. Â The hanging lamp was almost in my face and that made me want to leave quickly. Â My friend had dinner and it didn't look very good. Â We wanted chili but they were out that night. Instead she got salad and fish & chips. Â The salad was just iceberg lettuce, sad shredded carrots and a couple strings of purple cabbage, it looked like a Denny's salad or a cheap grocery store premix. Â
As I am writing this review, my husband remembers that he went there on a separate trip a couple of years ago and they didn't have a single house beer on tap. Â Only Budweiser and maybe Corona.
In any case, it's nice that there's a non pretentious place in downtown. It'd be nice if they'd try harder.
I was in town for business and as is my usual practice, I try to visit the local brew pubs wherever I am. Â Given that this was a Wednesday night and school was out for the summer, the place was pretty dead, just a handful of people. Â I bypassed the "please wait to be seated" sign, hailed the bartender, and grabbed a table. Â I called ahead to make sure they had free wifi. Â I just wanted some dinner, a beer, and a little web surfing. Â I wanted to try their award-winning Brew 22 but they were out of that and all their other house brews except their IPA, so I ordered an IPA. Â The IPA was a good, hoppy IPA. Â I ordered fish tacos, which appear on the appetizer side of the menu, but are really a meal. Â The fish tacos were very good, real fish, not Mrs. Paul's fish sticks. Â The tortilla chips on the side were bland, straight-out-of-the-bag kind of chips. Â This is an OK place and worked for me for what I needed.
Review Source:The beer's not great, and it has more of a dive/college bar than a brewery. Â I'm usually a fan of listening in as the bartender fights with her friends/customers at the bar as it would have provided better entertainment than the muted TVs and bad music. However, when it's so bad I can't get her attention long enough to get another mediocre beer I tend to get annoyed. If this is the scene you're looking for the Green Lantern may be a better choice.
Review Source:I'm sorry, but if you're going to call yourself a Brewpub, you should probably have good beer. Yes? No. The beer's not too good here. I've been in three times, convinced that my palette was off. Nope. Good palette, bad beer. The service reminds me of the wing joints I went to in college: friendly but shallow. The deck is nice, but it would be better with a good locally brewed beer. I like the onion rings and actually had a half way decent house salad. But I just can't get past the bad beer. It's just not right.
Review Source:We were visiting Walla Walla for the first time for the big wine release weekend. Â Because we were novices, we did not make dinner reservations ahead of time at the handful of good restaurants in downtown Walla Walla. Â This is what led us to Mill Creek (we tried to get into Backstage Bistro across the street but they were booked the entire evening) Â Upon arriving at Mill Creek, we realized it was more of a college sport bar than the usual brewery feel that I have become accustomed to being a Portland, OR native. Â The beer was mediocre and the food was ok. Â If your desperate, it will do the trick but its definitely nothing to write home about
