Miss Kitty's Saloon

Stopped here on the way back from Fire & Ice and couldn't figure out how I missed it the last time through here. I have no idea how the clientelle is later in the day or at night but I was the youngest person in there beside an Illinois state worker and he was no spring chicken either.
   Simple country bar that you can enter from either end with probably about 15 stools and a well-worn formica bar top, a couple low dividers between the bar and the two 7' pool tables, and the two larger windows at the ends of the room covered lest any light gets in.
   There was in fact a color photo behind the bar with the Gunsmoke cast and a sign reading," gentlemen, no shoes, no shirt, no service, ladies no shoes, no shirt, free beer." This is obviously a wholesome family spot and I felt right at home.
   Not a lot of different beers or hard liquor but reasonably priced. The folks at the bar were genial and while they didn't take out a second mortgage on decoration it was clean. If you're going looking for ladies be advised, at least in the A.M., that they'll be closer to retirement age than collegiate highjinks.
