Sawdust on the floor, cheap pitchers of local beer, peanuts and good pizza. Pure awesomeness.

All the other reviews sum this place up. All I can say is that this was our favorite bar while we were in Kalispell. We dank the night away and when as with drinking came the hunger, so we ordered a pizza. The pizza wasn't the best I have had. The bartender was awesome. This place housed every age and group and everyone seemed really nice and friendly.

It's not fancy, in fact it's extremely rustic, but no visit to this area is complete without experiencing this historic, Kalispell landmark.  Hey, it's not just for tourists though, I can't think of any of my local Montana friends that would ever pass up an invitation to meet me for a beer at Moose's. It's actually a very eclectic crowd, occasionally you will even spot actors and actresses throwing back a cold one at Moose's. From the sawdust  (not sure why there's sawdust, there's no dancing) and peanut shells that are thrown on the floor (on purpose) to the names carved in the walls and tables, Moose's never fails to provide us with a good experience.

Moose's is also known for their outstanding pizza.  Any one of their delicious creations will  satisfy your pizza craving.  And for you GF folks, Moose's offers a Gluten Free crust, so even you can experience what everyone is talking about.

When is the best time to go to Moose's?  Hmm, let's see, after coming out of the park, after a day on a raft, after fly fishing, after a hike or backpack, after skiing, after a day on the lake, after a golf game, after work.  Do you see where I'm going with this?  Anytime is a good time visit Moose's.

There's no parking on the street, so go around to the parking lot behind the building and enter through the the door in the back as well.  Walk down a hallway and then sit at the bar in front of you or turn to the right and get a table or turn to the left and order a pizza...I suggest the sauerkraut and Canadian Bacon as a topping.  No, I'm not kidding, the combo will not disappoint you.

You'll need to order you beer from the bartender as they don't have wait staff.  What ever you decide to buy, you're going to need cash as they don't take plastic.  They do have a cash machine inside though.

If you're a tourist and you bypass a visit to Moose's, you've done yourself a disservice.  Go...have fun!

You know how people often say California girls are super hot, but they be crazy and such?

KC is gonna let you in on a little secret. Mrs. KC's modeling career started at Moose's in Kalispell. Some agent from Ford Models was vacationing in Montana with his family, gnawing peanuts, drinking cheap beer and shoveling pizza when he spotted a ten.

Your mileage may vary at Moose's. If you don't spot a beautiful woman, you will, however, be in one of the greatest bars in Montana. Don't sleep on their pizza. It's great.

Okay.... I am just saying that anyone who does not give Moose's at least 4 stars is flipping crazy or they ordered incorrectly.  I absolutely love the combo with some pineapple and jalapenos added to it... and I cant get over that crunchy cornmeal crust. It is a true Montana treasure.

used to be GREAT!!! Now, ..........the old cash register is gone! They serve beer with fruit in it...........crap what is next, drinks with little umbrellas????? And the juke box now has  hip hop. And gone is the horn. (and you should know what that means......
A classic example of giving in to the tourists and leaving your roots behind. They ahve gone mainstream, and it is sad.

This place is awesome!!  I love dive hole in the wall places like this.  Every time i hear the Toby Keith song "I love this bar" I think of Mooses.  This is a total saloon type feel to it.  Dark, dingy, people carving stuff on the wall, animal heads on the wall (some that have been lit on fire it looks like), 6 inches of old peanut shells on the floor...pretty sweet!!  Not to mention they have awesome beers on tap for like 2 bucks a pint or 10 bucks a pitcher, I had the Blackfoot IPA which is my all time favorite IPA.  The pizza is great but did take a bit to come but thats what the peanuts are for.

We are in Kalispell for a month, while my husband is working, so I figured we have a chance to do some experimenting with dinner. Everybody and I mean everybody from here has told us to go to Moose's to eat.

We went in on a Friday night at 6pm and they were packed. I had read the reviews that said, instructions would be nice when you walk in. I thought I knew what was going on, after reading a few yelp reviews that said order and pick a seat. Not so easy coming through the back door. The window is directly to your left when you come in the back, but the bar is really close to it, so it is hard to see what is going on. So, we circle the bar and see it. We headed through the crowd back to the window and I kept hearing people say they are going for a table.

The place is typical bar dark, nothing crazy like some reviewers said, saw dust, yes, dirty, who can tell it is all covered in saw dust and the lights are low. You can carve up the walls and tables, the locals were right, the seating is padded picnic tables, even the booths have the bench seats. It took 30 minutes to get the pizza and it was pretty good.

The crust is thin and crisp, plenty  of cheese. I don't want to say it fell flat on flavor, it was not a bad pizza, but it was not something I'd go back and do again. We had added tomato and garlic to the pizza, but for some reason it just seemed flat, not like cardboard flavor flat, but just something missing. I was not disappointed, either, so that says something. My husband was not impressed with them at all and he was the one that wanted to go for pizza.

We got two ice teas and they were 50 cents each, so that was a rockin' deal. I did notice walking out a lot of people had soda cans on the table, that is the first time I have ever seen that in a bar. I would have thought soda might be on tap, since there were a lot of families with kids in here.

I usually refer to Moose's Pizza as slime on a shingle. Cardboard crust and cheap ingredients. Go there once for the 'atmosphere', but not for the pizza.

This is an institution and well worth a visit.  However, it does have its limitations.  The pizza was good, but not great.  It took over 40 minutes to come and the place was not crowded.  I think the Widmer Hefeweizen keg was flat.  The beer had little taste.  It is clear people were having a good time, but i think i will experiment a bit before coming back.

OK, here's my big admission...we didn't go inside. We were chickensh*t tourists and we opted for the drive-up pizza window. But the pizza window really delivered! In fact, it delivered gluten-free crust pepperoni pizza that knocked our socks off. Except our socks were in our hotel room. Next time we will be brave enough to go in and engage in the peanut shell tossing. Next time...

Decent pizza but I like the missoulian sandwich. Good brews on tap n yeah u can toss your shells on the floor, just remember it's cash only. Moose's received an A+ rating from the health board.

This place is all about the experience.  If you are looking for a cozy intimate date, then you're coming to the wrong place. If you're looking to have some beers with some fun friends and/or family, then this is a great place to meet.  This has been a place I've been visiting for years, and it's always great to bring newcomers to the area here as part of their sightseeing places.

The pizza is delicious, and now they even offer a gluten-free crust, which is great for me!  They have a good selection of local beers on tap and the peanuts are a must have.  For those who like their pizza spicy, ask the bartender for the Sriracha sauce behind the bar ;)

Moose's fucking rules. It came recommended by a family friend, so we stopped here on our way to said friend's lake house. (Ooooh, swank.) I'd heard tales of cheap, good, local beers in Montana, but I didn't really believe it. Moose's offered plenty of Montana beers on tap.

We tried a Blackfoot IPA, Big Sky Trout Slayer and Moose Drool, and one other really great IPA I can't recall. Two bucks each, y'all. Two dollars for a beer, ain't that wild?

You can buy a cup of peanuts for pretty cheap (would be rad if they were free) and spit the shells on the floor. I really love that. I'm not generally a fan of taxidermy, but the heads on the wall here fit just right. The vibe is fairly intimate, with lots of dark wood. They also serve pizzas which are said to be pretty good. The bartendress was just a little bitchy, which was perfect. Really.

If I lived in Kalispell (what a dream), I would be here on the regular. Like, every day, town drunk status. I loooove it.

Could not have been happier! Here on business. Wanted a cold beer and a place to watch the RedSox game. This is exactly what I received. Cold Smoke on tap, fantastic Pizza, and friendly people! As usual, Montana Style! I will be back!

A genuine crowded local bar, with cheap cold beer and not so bad wine.  Peanuts to shell and toss on the floor, already covered with sawdust.  Families and folks of all ages, concentrating on drinking that cheap beer and enjoying the evening.  No room for pretense, and the bartender wouldn't allow it anyway.  A must-see.  They even had Cold Smoke drafts for $2.

If you're looking for a dive bar, look no further. Classic "saloon" all the way, from the saloon doors to the peanut shells on the floor. It's dark, it's dingy and it's delicious. Pizza, that is.

Don't grab a seat (if you can find one) and expect a waitress to saunter up and take your order. It's self service baby, so walk your ass up to the bar and select one of about 15 draft beers - most of them priced at $2 a glass or $10 a pitcher. Be sure to grab a dish of peanuts to add your personal touch to the floors of sawdust.

If you have time, you can carved your name into a wall, ceiling beam or picture frame. Moose's has been here since 1957 and I'm sure if you spent some time looking at all the signatures and carvings, you could find a few that say "I'm going to Woodstock" and "Vote for Nixon" just to show the staying power of this Kalispell "signature spot." Even the seat cushions have been carved into and/or written in.

Order your own pizza in the back and they will bring it out to you when it's ready. Just be sure to tell them which table you're sitting at and someone will bring it to you.

If you're looking for fancy wood-fired oven pizzas and a glass of Malbeck, go back to California or the East Coast. If you're looking for a fun place to enjoy some cold beers from local breweries in Northwest Montana, enjoy some tasty pizza and hang out  with friends, be sure to stop in at Moose's.

Moose's definitely has their niche. It's a bar complete with LOTS of Montana local color. Don't look too closely, though. It's actually disgustingly dirty but somehow charming at the same time. Where else can you throw your peanut shells on the floor and have ice cold $2 beers? And I noticed that the bartender hand washes the glasses old-fashioned style in the 3 rinse method. They don't have a dishwasher at the bar.
Hmmm....the pizza. Tastes good when you're REALLY hungry and nothing else is open. But it would never, ever hold up next to any kind of quality pizza. So, in summary, Moose's is fun to go to for beer and people watching.

We arrived here on a quest for pizza and that's what we got. To be real, this place is dark, has a dirty, inside-of-a-gerbil-cage floor, carvings on the wall, and little to no service. It wasn't really clear where we were supposed to order and I felt a little overwhelmed when I walked in. But after my eyes adjusted, I enjoyed the oddly perfect coexistence of family-atmosphere and bar-atmosphere, and once our pizza arrived (about 40 minutes after ordering) it was goddamned delicious. Of course, I was so hungry by then that I would have eaten a shoe, but I think it would have been good in any case. Didn't have enough cash for beer, but I think they had a pretty good selection.

Saw all the reviews and had to try it. Took awhile to find the right door and when we did we were a little scared. We ventured in and grabbed a booth. There was sawdust and peanut shells littering the floor. We grabbed some beers and peanuts. The peanuts cost the same price as the beer, but that is because they have cheap beer. An there is a good variety.
As for the pizza it was not so good. This is more of a dive bar and a good one. But not a place to dine.

Being from San Diego, my girlfriend and I knew we wouldn't blend in with the locals, but decided to try out this local hot spot anyways.  Our bartender was pleasant to us and the service was great.

I was floored when two pints of locally brewed amber ales came to total of $4.  That price is amazing, especially when compared to prices in San Diego.  The beer wasn't as good as some other locally brewed beers I've had in San Diego, but it was definitely good and worth drinking.

The pizza was great too and reasonably priced. I could certainly do without the sawdust on the floor, but if you're into good pizza and good beer, Moose's Saloon is a must stop if you're in Kalispell, MT.

I've never been to a "Saloon" before and I always wanted to walk thur those little swinging doors, just like in the movies. Unfortunately, there was a real door two feet from the swinging door, so the experience didn't quite meet my expectations!

Wasn't sure what to expect as this was my first time in Montana and I obviously wouldn't "blend in " with the locals. I found the people friendly and the pizza was incredible, that coupled with cheap beer prices made for fun time.

    Highly Recommend.

Its funny to read other people's reviews sometimes...

Moose's pizza is not your typical pizza. And thats why its great. Its not the slimy floppy pizza people call "New York" pizza which is never quite as good as you'd get it in New York subsequently...

It's also not the deep dish pizza known as "Chicago" pizza. Nope. No-sir-ee

It is a piece of dough that is completely covered in whatever cheese they may have laying around along with however flippin' toppings you want on there. Yes, its a crispy crust, its also a cheesy wonderful mess that will not disappoint you, unless you're not firing on all six cylinders...

Go here, eat here, drink here, and love it. You can thank me later...

    Also, new bathrooms!

One more thing... kids in bars is a Montana thing... some of the best food is in bars, its not like they're there at 10pm or anything... get over it!

Kalispell, a city which I will always feel fortunate to call home, mainly because of its surroundings, lack of Lunchboxes Per Capita, and people.  Although by no means was I, or ever will I be considered a Montucky native, this town will always have a special place in my heart.
The spot known as Moose's is one of the greatest indoor sites I have encountered during my six year tour of Montana.  The combination of its nostalgia, people, picture perfect staff, quality of food, and service provided, is flat out five miles past ridiculous.  I know it is hard for a reader to believe that there is good Pizza outside of Italy, New York, and Chicago; but the slices here at Moose's will not disappoint.  Hell, if it does, put it on my tab;  then go find the best pinecone the beautiful forests that surround Kalispell provides, and shove it, way up your butt "the non-nice way" (assuming there is one.)
Over the years, I have never had one bad experience at Moose's.  Regardless if I'm with family, friends, employer's, or just on a solo pizza pickup mission, this place is very admirable.
Thank you Moose's and thank you Kalispell, you're all supreme.

In Kalispell there is an establishment that embodies our idea of a western town: rough around the edges, but warm and accepting once you get to know the regulars. That establishment is Moose's Saloon.  Equipped with swinging saloon doors, just like the old days, when you enter this dimly lit saloon don't be alarmed at the crackle under your foot; that's just peanut shells and sawdust.  While you wait for your pizza to be brought to your table you can peruse the numerous carvings that have been made into every nook of every exposed piece of wood or enjoy one of the saloon's many libations while watching 'the game.'

We ate our first pizza at a table and enjoyed it.  Not much to report about the pizza - it was good.  Afterwards, we found two seats at the bar and were met gruffly by the bartender who abruptly took our order, served us and then put our money in a cash register that looked as if it was the original register of the saloon.  By our second round, the bartender had warmed up to us and we had found ourselves engaged in a lengthy conversation with a local, who the bartender had introduced us to, who was also a fan of Philadelphia sports teams.

All in all.  Come and enjoy the pizza, but stay for the atmosphere.

This is my kind of place. We went to Moose's strictly because of Yelp. We had just spent all day in Glacier and now we were Kalispell for the night and desperately wanted a place to kick back and have a great time. Moose's was the answer. From the outside this place is quiet and kind of misleading. But when you walk in it's a pizza party beer bash Montana style. There is sawdust and peanut shells on the floor and the whole place is wooden with people's initials and names carved into the furniture and walls. There wasn't a single inch of wood that hadn't been carved into. Even the picture frames were marked. The staff is very friendly as I found out when I asked how the operation works.

First you choose your seating. Then you go up to the food window in the back and place your order and pay for it. There is a seating chart posted at the window so you can tell the server/cook what table to send your food to. Third, go to the bar and order some drinks. They have endless beers, cocktails, and most non-alcoholic drinks you can think of. When your food is ready a staff member will bring your food over but you have to get your own drinks each time. The bar is where you get the peanuts for the tossing.

The prices at Moose's are rather cheap, maybe because I'm from California, so it definitely feels like you got your dollars worth. The atmosphere is fun and loud and there are plenty of TV's with all the games on. There are lots of locals and slow-pitch softball teams chugging pitchers of Moose's Drool. Iced Tea's were .60 cents.

We had a blast and next time we go to Glacier it will be set in stone to make stop at Moose's.

At first, we thought this place was a joke.  Then we figured it was, but a joke of a different kind.
    ~
Walking down the streets of Kalispell, looking for anywhere to get a drink, we came across this place.  How many "saloons" does a city-boy like me ever come across in his lifetime?  ( 0 if I am lucky).
    ~
It's set along a busy street in the town of Kalispell, but inside the swinging doors (gosh just like a REAL cowboy saloon!) the place has not changed in a hundred years.
    ~
Every single inch of woodwork in the place has had initials or death threats carved into it.  Sawdust on the floor isn't put there for ambiance.  The cash register is 150 years old at my best guess - and at first I thought it was a prop - but the bartender used it all night to ring up patrons!
    ~
The people who frequent the joint are beyond scary.  We saw a family of 3 eating here - who brings a kid to a bar/SALOON for dinner!?
    ~

    WELCOME TO KALISPELL!!!!!

Moose's Saloon has a reputation as a must try experience if you are in Kalispel.  It is not fancy - well, actually it is a dive.  No outside signs, no markings on the doors, just a brownish red building sitting on Main Street.  But we had to try it - and there was a playoff game, so we combined three of our favorite activities - beer, pizza and sports TV.

We finally found the right door, and entered.  It is small, crowded, dimly lit and something crunchy was on the floor. WTF.  After finding an open table and crunching over to it, we discovered that you could buy peanuts for $1.50 and throw the shells on the floor.  That sounded like fun, so we waited. No waitstaff - all orders were placed and picked up at the bar (except pizza).  So we ordered pitchers of beer, and peanuts, and happily littered the floor along with everyone else.  And yes, they have Moose Drool on tap - a local Montana dark beer that goes great with pizza and peanuts.

We ordered several different types of large pizzas. They are ordered at the pizza window, and they deliver to your table.  Not great, not bad - but better than average.  By the end of the game, we noticed that all the pizza was gone - so it must have been better than we thought.

Fun place - and we will return on our next golf trip there - even if it's only for the Moose Drool.

Oh, and by the way, they do have a Moose head on the wall!!!

My family and I came here while on vacation based on the strong reviews listed prior.  We figured if several people thought the pizza was good, then it must be good!

The place has a wonderful old-time charm.  The walls were lined with relics from the past: Western Union telegrams dating back to the early 1800's and pictures from prior decades.  There was sawdust on the floor, and a bar located in the middle of everything, and you could tell it was just a cool place to hang out.

We decided to split a 1/2 deluxe, 1/2 Mexican pizza along with a cup if peanuts between the four of us.  The pizza arrived in a fair amount of time and we were ready to dig in.   The deluxe half didn't look all that great, while the Mexican half looked kind of refreshing, with a pile of fresh lettuce, tomatoes and salsa on top.  Unfortunately, the pie really wasn't all that good.  I'm sure locals will disagree, but as respectfully as I can, I have to say the pizza at best reminded me of a mediocre frozen pizza.  The crust was thin, but tough, with a gritty, cornmealy feel to it, and I can't say the slices were bursting with flavor either.

I came in with high expectations that were quickly dashed after my first few bites.  If you're looking for a cool atmosphere, you're in the right place...and maybe the sandwiches are good (we didn't try 'em).  I'd do yourself a favor and skip the pizza, though.

Best pizza I've had west of the Mississippi. And it's a bargain - I bought a small one to go (for the next day). Booze selection - awesome. And it comes in a Goblet. I walked in, slightly disoriented, and asked the bartender what beer on tap he likes. Turns out, he doesn't drink beer. I immediately fell in love with this place. Also, I fell in love with Moose Drool here. $2 for Moose Drool in a Goblet.

Order your pizza in the back. Tell them where you're sitting and they bring it out to you.

Local favorite for lunch or dinner.  Sandwiches are great, but they are known for their pizza.  Do not wear sandals, flips flops or any open shoe as the floor is covered in sawdust.  Feel free to toss peanut shells on the floor.  I grew up in Kalispell and Moose's is an institution.  I have brought people from all over the world here who also agree the food is great and laugh at how cheap everything is.  Always busy around lunch and until 9ish at nights during the summer and weekends.

Backdoor stop in Kalispell.  There is something so liberating about tossing peanut shells on the floor...like you're takin' it to the MAN!!  Chalise served beer and peanuts(darn good peanuts I might add), sawdust floors, decent pizza, etc.  Wish I had tried a sandwich.

First of this place has serious character.  Sawdust on the floors no waiters... it's AWESOME.  The locals are friendly and the beer is cheap only $7.50 a pitcher!  The pizza was awesome as well and reasonably priced.  They even have personal pizzas for picky eaters (my gf only wants veggie pizza even though she jacks mine as well).

But if ever in Kalispell this stop is a MUST.  Place your order from the window by the bar and make sure to get some peanuts.  You can throw your shells on the floor!  The juke box is one of the new internet juke box's and has all the latest and greatest songs.  They only serve beer and wine but have a large selection of beers on tap.
