The bartenders are great, the drinks are stiff, the prices are low, Mootsy's is my favorite dive in town. My friends and I have had lots of good times here and there are always cool people to talk to. Plus it's right across from the Satellite for a perfect transition from late night to morning ;)
Review Source:Loved it! Â It was a hole in the wall place and loved it. Â Live band Thursday night. Â It was loud as hell but still had a blast. Â Had a great selection of beer. Â Loved the crowd, and as another poster rated it is full of locals. Â And that is the shit! Â The locals make a place not some college kids that have no idea.
If you get a chance drink a Koa Stout
I've seen Mootsy's all my life and it seemed like a bit of a trashy place until I first stumbled in. It was a Wednesday and they had $1 PBRs, an open pool table next to a very decent jukebox. The gin and tonics are stiff, along with the other drinks. They've got 8-10 beers on tap, for decent prices.
Mootsy's looks like a quintessential downtown bar, a little dirty (just enough to be fun), dark and with interesting but not intelligent decor. There is only one pool table so it can get boring after a while, but it's the perfect place to stop by on a night of bar hopping.
Plus there is a delicious taco truck right across the street that is open late Thursday-Saturday.
It's dirty, it's loud, it attracts the locals, should I go on?
We came here because a guy we just met, who just moved into town, met a neighbor doing laundry. Â Said neighbor is in a band and was playing tonight. Â Also, this random guy and I had mutual friends, so it was a good group of us. Â We got to meet the group playing, sit up on a couch on top of a pool table. Â Considering how tall everyone in this city seems to be, that was perfect for me.
This isn't the place to go when you want to talk to people. Â It seemed like they have a good selection of booze, beer and hard liquor (I feel like I need to specify this in Washington).
Parallel park in the street. Â It's Downtown so it's kind of hard to find parking...and it was a Wednesday night. Â Lastly, don't leave any valuables in your car, one of our friends' car got broken into and had some things stolen :(
Mootsy's is a wonderful hole in the wall. Strong drinks at a cheap price. Great crowd for a Spokane dive bar. Great music on weekends, which sometimes includes the up and coming touring act. At one point in time they did poetry readings, but not sure if that is still happening.
Become enlightenend at Mootsy's!
Moostys has a storefront on Washington that sells pizza and another store front on Sprague that is a bar and night club. The night club works very hard to bring in local music acts and the beer is pretty cheap. The place has booths big enough for groups of 4 or 5 but it can get extremely loud when they bring in music. There is a sort of cool mezzanine level with eclectic furniture that probably should be burned. Its looks out over the small main stage and is a nice place to feel like a low budget VIP for the indie scene.
